Forget String theory, Holographic Principle says you might just be a hologram. Interesting stuff, but a long article.

The matrix has you, Neo.

Wow, I love really outside-the-box science like this. if he can prove it then our understanding of physics needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.
-
It makes sense. We currently believe our universe is made of strings, why couldn't these strings just be projections.
-
I just realized something. Our universe is like an mp3. Fucking shitty compression.
-
So basically we're just 3D images projected from a distant 2D surface in the universe...

That's simplifying it a lot. What we perceive as particles and such are just made up of tiny units of projection.
-
So an electron colud would just be pixelation of sorts?
-
More like several pixels.
-
Oooh that's interesting. But I doubt I'm a hologram.
-
I started reading this, but I have to leave. I will have to remember to read this later!
-
My bet is the instrument is just shitty. LIGO is where it's at.
-
It makes so much sense!
In the end we are just ilusions thinking.
Thinking everything including that we have a body and we are alive. In fact we think live and construct life because we have the power to think.
In the other hand is thinking to much that keep us from seing how reality is.
Is not what a Yogi see after so much training in meditation and in stoping thoughts? That it is all an ilusion?
It maybe a hologram and ilusion but it is a very solid reality that we have to learn how to live in it.

I wish I was a hologram, I'm the obsolete animatronic model :(

That's exactly the sort of thing I'd expect a hologram to say.
-
I am a theoretical hologram. Not an actual one.
-
I saw a hologram once.

You know it's never going to work, right? ;)

Why wont gravitational-wave observation work? Oh, we're still playing this game? Ok, hold on...
It wont work because the earth is flat! Noob.
-
Actually, mainly because it has already failed so they are now making an 'advanced' version.
-
Yeah, that's basically it. LIGO will almost certainly not work since it isn't big enough - to observe a gravitational wave you have to have a detector bigger than the wavelength (that's the typical interpretation anyway) and so few events generate high frequency gravitational waves that it'll be virtually impossible to spot them at the levels they are sensitive to. You really need to big orbiting detector made of 3 satellites - is it called LISA? I can't remember. Anyway, I am sceptical of LIGO for that reason, not because "lols I'm an FE'er rofl".
