Sometime in the next couple of weeks, we'll be launching the main site (don't worry -- the forums will remain the same!) and officially opening the Flat Earth Society to new members again. As part of the new website, I've set up a Flat Earth Wiki to eventually replace the FAQ. Because we do get an occasional troll, I don't think Wiki will ever been completely open to the general public.. but I know there are plenty of very sensible, interested people on here who, even if they don't believe in Flat Earth Theory, might be willing to help Wiki-fy our FAQ. If you're one of those people, let me know either in here or by PM. This is open for anyone who's been here for a while and has a decent posting history. It doesn't have to be a big time commitment. Even if you only help with a few articles here and there, that's still appreciated.
It just occurred to me that Flat Earth Wiki's initials are FEW. I smell a new membergroup. The FEW, The Proud.
-
I would gladly help with the wiki. I'll be having some extra free time on my hands soon, so I should be able to contribute to at least a few articles over the course of the holidays.
-
Just in time for my holidays, I'd love to help out.
-
Private Spaghetti here to do his duty SIR!
-
Saddam is ready!
-
I would be happy to help too, I don't post much in the discussion anymore, but that's more due to the angry noobs than lack of interest.
-
I'm in.
-
Count me in as well.
-
I think that what would be ideal is if someone had the tools and know how to create a 3d model of the various FE models showing (among other things) the relative orbits of the sun and moon above the FE. It's something that I've been wanting to create myself but sadly, I don't have the tools necessary. :-\
-
I'll go.

AmateurAstronomer has done something similar to that in the past.

AmateurAstronomer has done something similar to that in the past.
I don't think that he ever modeled the actual expanding and contracting orbit of the sun as required by FET, or a model that would show the path of the FE sun from the surface of the FE (give or take the bendy light/refraction effects required to make the sun appear to rise/set). I think that he had a good start, but I'd be looking for a more comprehensive model.

I am ready, willing and able to help with the wiki.
-
I've gotta say the format for the wiki looks very professional.

I'll help if you pay me

I'm getting this when I try to log in:
SingleSignOn: Token incomplete:password
Backtrace:
GlobalFunctions.php line 450 calls wfbacktrace()
MamboLogin.php line 57 calls wfdebugdiebacktrace()
SpecialUserlogin.php line 311 calls mambologin::authenticate()
SpecialUserlogin.php line 94 calls loginform::processlogin()
SpecialUserlogin.php line 19 calls loginform::execute()
SpecialPage.php line 387 calls wfspecialuserlogin()
SpecialPage.php line 270 calls unlistedspecialpage::execute()
index.php line 203 calls specialpage::executepath()
Edit: Logging in works for me if done from the home page. I get the above message if I try to log in from the actual wiki page. Also, yay, I got a star.
-
I want to help but I'm not sure I'd be very good for it. I could scan for any grammar or spelling errors!
Also, I want a thing that says The FEW next to my name. I'll help with whatever I can for that.
-
I'm willing to help out with anything at all.
-
I just copied the geography section of the FAQ I made into geography for Q/A so far. I'm having difficulty adjusting to wiki code. I'm an html guy.

-
i am ready to help, and i enjoy writing very much.
edit: i can has blue star too?
-
Don't do it, Daniel! They're REers and trolls.
-
Where is the wiki?
-
l'd like to help out. I don't have many posts but the ones I have are all sensible. I'm an RE'er (for now) but apparently that's okay.Thanks, Mike.
P.S I am not a troll. Ask anybody in Debate and Discussion.
-
I am an REer too, but i can easily and gladly argue FE to the death.
also, i am not a troll, nor have i ever been.
-
I'm an RE'er, but I'm not trolling.
-
I'd be willing to help.
-
I dont know if I could contribute anything major, but I would certainly like to help.
-
I can help out if needed, but I'm pretty sure we have enough people as it is.
-
I get called a troll alot but only by people who disagree with me. You guys are probably full but if I get to be a member I am in.
-
I am willing to help. I can work on russian version of this, for example:)
-
I'll help if you pay me
I'll give you 100% of the profits generated by this site in the past 4 years.
Does that mean Gayer is now funding the site for the next 4 years?

Hey, I volunteered to help. Why didn't i get a reply? I would promise to do it correctly and to the best of my ability. Plus, I do have a lot of time on my hands.
-
I ahve decided hat i should be in this group. I can tell people how pretty flat earth is... since i know pretty the best.

If it makes you feel any better, I was ignored too and I was asked directly by Daniel before all of this started. Likely it has to do with my involvement in the IAFEG wiki and site, though.
-
New here and fully prepared to being ignored ;D I can offer some of my spare time helping out on the Wiki. Some areas, including astronomy, magnetism, and topology of the outer part of the Earth seem to require extra attention in the FET.
-
I love being right
strange how nobody has replied ?? Well it's not that strange really. Let's see : -
Wiki - lmao. I'm willing to take bets that this doesn't appear.

Just out of curiosity, how is the wiki coming along? Will it be ready for

If anybody really wants to know, it seems to be coming along all right, there are a lot of pages done, but production seems to have hit a stand still, at least the last time I checked.

Be Original, please.
The FEW as in The Flat Earth Wiki. ::)
-
That is an idiotic comment.
-
Idiotic because I knew what The FEW stands for? I think you've lost me.
-
You are using the slogan of the US Marines. You guys lack originality.

And? This from a dude who can't find a better name than new nerd. ::)
-
Oh look someone grew some balls. I think you might be the first.
-

Who said we were going for originality? The FEW was made a membergroup after the creator of it realized that The Flat Earth Wiki's initials spelled The FEW and like most people it brought to mind "The few, the proud..." It was meant to be obvious.
-
Oh look someone grew some balls. I think you might be the first.
Try hitting the " View New Replies " button. I think you'll find I've replied to a couple of your posts.
-
I wrote my response while you posted yours.

Can I help?

PM him instead, it will be faster most likely.

When does this wiki become open for all? If not finished then fine... not trying to rush, but I am very interested.
-
I just wanted to know, out of curiosity what does "Service guarantees citizenship" mean?
-
I just wanted to know, out of curiosity what does "Service guarantees citizenship" mean?
It's a phrase used to describe the electoral system in Robert Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers. Basically, in the book citizenship is not a right, but has to be earned. Those who serve in the military earn citizenship. It basically harks back to the old Greek systems where to be a citizen you had to be able to provide yourself with arms.

In the next couple of weeks, hopefully. There's a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment to prepare for the Society's official re-launch. Everything will happen at once.
-
I don't know that I'd have much of anything to add to it, at most I could improve sentence structures or reduce redundant redundancies. It's hard to say what I can do without seeing it but I'm willing to help however I can, if you don't mind setting up another account. :)

I don't want to sound pushy but that is the same thing you said in December 2008. Not trying to be rude, I'm just excited for the launch of the site.
-
That's right, you said "a couple weeks" almost a year ago, and "a couple weeks" more than a month ago. I'm eager to see an organized compilation of Flat Earth theories! Don't you have enough to open to the public?
-
Thanks! Enjoying the FEW now!
-
Would it be possible to check out this FEW?
If ya'll need any help, I'll contribute with what I can...if any.
-
The wiki will never launch.
-
The wiki will never launch.
It already has. Well, sorta. There is a link in Tom Bishop's sig, but I'm not sure if the FEW has officially launched.
-
I think it would be a great idea.
-
yes I am ready!
-
Thank you for your response. I am going to check out the place you suggested in Raleigh. It sounds interesting and I would like to know if they are around. Thank you again.
