Title: brooklyn bridge.
Post by: Jak08 on September 06, 2008, 04:00:53 PM
.... at the top there is one and a half inches more distance between the two main columns than there is  at the bottom , the only explanation for such a precise piece of engineering suffering this, is the curvature of the earth.

Or the curvature of the bridge.

Both of you may be right.

Or wrong.

Possibly a slight mixture of even chunks of both. With a good sauce and mashed taters on the side.

Doubt it.  I still don't remember you which shows exactly how insignificant you actually are.  Why don't you take a .45 cal aspirin for that constant headache you have.

Oh you know you do.  The one that echos your mom and dad telling you how much you fucking suck at life and how they wish they never had you.  The one that echos all the women you've ever been with, laughing at the small size of you penis.  The one that echos all the jerks at school that called you names relentlessly until you thought for sure you were going to throw yourself off the tallest building you could find.  You know, that headache.

Quit trying to convince me.  It can all go away if you want it.  It can be totally silent.  No one picking on you anymore.  No more being hard on yourself for all of your life's failures.  No more sitting around in your old 1992 pickup truck wondering why you shouldn't just drive it straight into the nearest river with you inside.  At last.  Silent.

Don't deny those inner voices.  They are giving you your way out.

What if we speak about the bridge, guys?

Not that this is proof that the earth is curved, but does anyone have the dimensions of the bridge and the radius of the earth at sea level? I would be interested to see if the math does add up.

A couple of inches doesn't really prove much. A recent building project our company was the PM for built a lift shaft a couple of degrees rotated the wrong way and about quarter of a metre in the wrong place. The contractors were promptly sacked.

That's what she said.

dont forget the bridge was built a while ago so it might of sunk into the ground some or it could of been really bad engineering

I agree, any deviation could simply be tolerance in the design.

A couple of inches on a structure that size and on water is not bad engineering.
