Title: FES Community Project
Post by: joffenz on December 07, 2007, 02:28:55 PM
Right, basically the serious debates are't what they used to be. Partly this is because people who join have no idea about the FE theory. The FAQ isn't apparently working either. So, the plan is to create a written description of FET, but not in question form.Of course, it's a challenge for just a few people to create this, which is why it needs to be a community project.

So if anyone volunteer to write some parts of it, or just generally contribute that would be a huge help.

I want no part in helping write this. Only because it bores me. But thanks for asking me specifically. Even if it doesn't look like you did. I know you were talking to me.

The "common" FE view is pretty muddled.   I think it would be a good idea to get a current verison of it like this.  However, I'm definitely not one to contribute heavily since my views differ so much from the accepted ones.

Edit: actually, if it will be included, I will write up a section on tides and the anti-moon as well as the tilting theory.

Are you going to include the different theories on the Flat Earth, or just the generally accepted ones?

Probably the generally accepted ones.

Not bad, but I think the problem with our FAQ is that you can't just give a one line answer for all parts of the theory.  That's why we need it in non-question format.

Hopefully I can get admin permission to get this bad boy stickied. Or even wiki format, for ultimate internet goodness.

Not with all these noobs, it wouldn't. Maybe make it so that there's a post count requirement before you can edit it.

Hrm, what about a section detailing Relativity?  It comes up daily and its a snag point for almost every new person.

I have one written from previously, I can copy paste it over if I get a yes.

It would be nice if it also included some of the information Diego draw brought together in his compendium on the conspiracy.

Yes, but much of what he said was conjecture and speculation.  We don't know all of that stuff for a fact.

Saddam - a few things for your Conspiracy article.

Regarding the deception of astronauts, I've often reference the British Channel 4 reality show "Space Cadets" as an example demonstrating that it's fairly easy to trick someone into believing that they are in space. Astronauts may believe with sincere conviction that they have travelled through space, and know nothing of the Conspiracy.

The assassination of Scott of the Antarctic might be worth a mention as well - I'll see if I can dig up one of my old posts on this for you. (Ok, so we don't "know this as fact" either - but only in the sense that we don't know anything as a fact. How much of an absolutely verified fact does something have to be in order to merit inclusion?)

Perhaps so.  I welcome all points, criticisms, edits, etc.  Now, there are hundreds of astronauts, so, yes, most were probably tricked, but the astronauts who "went to the moon" were probably willing members.  I can't see how they would have been tricked.

Not knowing anything-you're right, we really know nothing about the conspiracy.  What I laid down was meant to be the basics, which most members agree is probably how the conspiracy operates day-to-day.  What might be a good idea is to have a section on "theories", for instance, if the conspiracy guards the Ice Wall, if they murdered JFK or Robert Falcon Scott, etc.

I did a seminar on possible RE-Con assassinations throughout history for my local group - if you want I can draft an article on the subject in due course.

Username: In connection with the Ice Wall Scholar Interpretation thread (the first of many), I'm making a hopefully vastly expanded FE compilation called the Modern Flat Earth Theory Compendium. It will be external to this site, and I've got the layout nailed already, I'm just preparing the articles.

Once it's up, I'll gladly immortalise insightful enough articles and accredit their authors.

Yeah, I was wondering about hosting/domains. How would you feel about collaboration on this front? I'd certainly like to discuss the possibility with you a bit further.

I\'m glad to see we\'ve resurrected this.  We really need a better intro for the FES.  Newbies show up to this website, read the FAQ with its one-liner responses, and come away thinking we\'re all retarded.  And the sad fact is, I can hardly blame them.

I'll give serious thought towards writing a well-constructed paper on the origin of the Bavarian Globe Maker's Guild.

Yep. I've already drafted an inaugural "Flat Earth Geography Lesson" for this new website. It'll serve as perhaps a more digestible introduction to Zeteticism and maybe deflect a few extra "WHY CAN PLANES FLY ROUND THE WORLD"s.
