Title: IF the earth is flat then how come i can't see the eiffel tower?
Post by: greatmaju on November 08, 2007, 12:39:50 PM
IF the flat earth is true then how come i can't see the eiffel tower? IF the earth is flat then we can see all of it (if its tall enough), yet we can't??

that and i have been to both dover and calias and yet... no eiffel tower  :-\
that and i can see parths oh the Earth bend. hmmm...

completly of topic. i mean as in if the flat earth existed i should be able to see the tower from where i live, and yet i dont, so it is indeed a round earth. geography proves this.

as i said, i can clearly see the trees outside, or even france from dover.
and then how are there variations on tempreture . easly explainable on a round earth.

The atmolayer isn't perfectly transparent. There's a distance beyond which you can't see because the thickness of the atmolayer obscures it.

If curvature is cutting off your vision, how come the horizon's position changes depending on the clarity of the air (on a foggy day versus a clear one, for example?)

??? i knew it was goingto be a farshot with the why cant i see the eiffel tower. but, still, how do different areas of the globe has a different temperature? or what a bout atmospheric circulation? micro climates?
does anyone have a picture of theis "ice wall" or a diagram?

Oh man, lurk a bit. These are rookie questions.

Find out what we think about the Sun and its movements and half your Q's are answered.

And stop calling it "the globe".

i have lurked a bit but all i see is FE's calling others noobs and saying use search, i would like a piece of evidance here. another thing FE's calls all NASA's photos fakes yet, tom bishop post a link to a photo. hmmm... :-\
so... does anyone have link to a diagram of this "flat earth" or a photo of the ice wall?? (still fake though, i guess)

You newcomers whine at us for asking you to read up on the subject - but if you did, we wouldn't have to ask you to, and you wouldn't ask these simple questions over and over again.

Then again, perhaps our snobbery isn't the best way to boost support. Who knows.

Different heat is pretty bleeding obvious. The sun moves around. It shines more on some places than others. I recommend Earth Not a Globe Chapter VIII (Causes of Day and Night, Winter and Summer; and the Long Alternations of...)

if the earth is flat then it wouldn't shine more on one place then the other.
the more curved the area of land then th colder it is. that explains why the equator is hotter then places near south and north pole.

What?  The earth is more 'curved' at the equator than at the poles.

unexplainable superrefraction via the basic Tenet's of Snell's law is what causes this illusion. It's all in the flat earth literature.

whats wrong with you Engy Baby? Everyone knows the suns rays are yellow and straight. Or sometimes wavy I guess, but I always drew them straight. And the sun wears sunglasses.

No. But light from the sun refracts when it hits the atmosphere, because it's moving from 1 medium to another.

not by much variation. a sun moving doesnt explain the equator and north/south pole.

Well, given that the FE theory holds that the Sun is 32 miles in diameter, the angle of refraction would change dramatically. The theory holds reasonably well in this case.

oh so right now the sun is moving right above me, is it?
what about eclipses?
Or when the sun isnt "moving", the equator still is hotter then the antartic.

Title: Re: IF the earth is flat then how come i can't see the eiffel tower?

The sun going around the earth is an ancient (and, in my opinion, stupid) idea

so... explain eclipses in this flat earth dimension of yours?

or... are they fake?

you are trying to get use killed by saying gravity doesn't exist.
Therefor we will fly off some where and go into a black hole or hit another planet
Title: Re: IF the earth is flat then how come i can't see the eiffel tower?

No, we will not fly off, as the earth is accelerating!

the earth isflying around the sun. the acceleration/speed should mean that we fly of, BUT the gravity from the sun keeps us just in place.

We are talking about the FE, not the RE.  You keep referring to the RE.  However, even in the RE gravity does not exist.

The problem is you're trying to superimpose your "RE" physics (which aren't even correct for the RE model, by the way) onto our FE model which blatantly doesn't work because...well...it doesn't.

That is FEs answers. if it doesn't work with what we are saying then it doesn't exist. hmmm... not that a lot of people belive in this flat earth. which shows that the spherical earth is more believable.

a quick question, if flat earth is constantly accelerating, wouldnt that cause an increase in gravity? if im wrong, feel free to point out why, im no physics major, and i do most of my math with a calculator/on a napkin.

there was a time when people were arrested for life for believing in a round earth.

Just because a lot of people believe an idea, doesn't mean it's necessarily right. Heck, look at Newtonian gravity!

maybe not, but its true. come on, no evidance? none at all untill you go to the ice wall and bring back evidance that i can belive.

If you do that then i will belive in the flat earth. BUT... thats not gonna happen anytime soon.

There's no such thing as a perfectly clear day because air is not perfectly transparent.

It doesn't matter if there are clouds or fog, the air is still not perfectly transparent.  That's why even on a clear day mountains look hazy when viewed from a distance.

it would be less clear on a foggy day

Oh and i sometimes thoguht that the haziness was about the air but mostly my vision, but of course the air isn't clear. i'd never say that it wasn't.
