So I've been trolling around this site for a while and have some questions.

"Why is there no serious interest in putting this question to rest?"

Why the endless debate? I mean if suckers voters are willing to shell out billions in an obvious puppet show of historic proportions, can't some smart advertising people trolling around here get a campaign going to fund this?

"What are you serious people afraid of"

Being wrong? I personally lean towards a flat earth, but not because I want to. (I have my own motives.) I'm a trekkie and this would seriously put a wrinkle in my hopes and dreams. But I think this controversy under-girds most everything else that people contend with and chiefly that of religion. I'll leave the religion alone....for now.
So what if it's wrong? I look at evidence and in the three years I've been aware of this as a serious question I've traveled deeply through the questions that are held against authoritative institutions. I just had my last doubt moved into the category of 'inconclusive.' Everything else is already there. The only catch is that in order to see things from either POV, I need to adjust what is possible and suspend the 'why' and 'how.'

"Why is it not possible to answer this?"

I dug through here and found several ideas that would solve this question so we can move on. One idea was an expedition using a hot air balloon. LAUGHABLE. Wouldn't it just follow the prevailing winds and the goal of finding and possibly crossing a barrier be improbable? How about this: in 1937 a zeppelin visited the north pole with several teams of researchers. I checked the docs and flight path and the true north pole was not visited. Points for the attempt, but obviously a dog and pony show. If that tech can be used then why not now. The cost of these things comparatively low against tech needed to get there->find the wall->get over it-> travel for any appreciable distance->return with proof. Except for one change. A FLEET of them. five or more. Because as it is said in the Army, "two is one, and one is none" and "more is better." Launch from all axis or from one continent but in line-ahead. Cameras on everything. Live. With Jeraldo. NO GO's, contractors, or institutions, individuals contracted and selected from a larger pool trained for that task only. Like a civilian NASA.

"Who would believe anything that is done?"

I wouldn't. Unless it is crowd funded and human crewed. NO drones!!!. So here's an angle, but I'm not too sharp on the economics. These things are being developed buy the aerospace industry anyway. They were a contender for a heavy lift system for the military. Get there firstest with the mostest and setup a cargo line specifically for these routes. The maiden voyage would be this expedition, then taken over for commercial use. Build one in every country sort of like 2012.

"What would happen either way?"

ha-ha! That's the scary part of this. Getting it done is not like landing on the moon or anything. But, really then what? Not much would change. Every controversy would have to be crowd debunked. If Peter Theil and the seasteading movement were smart, they would do this first and kick the struts out from under the rickety system that runs this world.

Oh, wait, yeah... they don't really want to do that either.

So who's got skills? Who's not afraid to fall off the edge of the world? I bet it could be done within 24 months. If hydrogen(no, I've never heard of the LZ129) were used then the bags, frames, controls, engines, and avionics would need to be procured/manufactured. Look up natural gas and see if that's a viable fuel and available in Antarctica.

Why would anybody in their right mind want to spend time and money proving something know to be fact for centuries?

It's far easier just to ignore you delusional flatters.

Now why hasn't some flatter become the most famous explorer since Columbus by simply sailing to the ice wall with a camera?

Why hasn't any flatter become the next Newton or Einstein by proving something as simple as sunsets being possible on a flat earth?

Why hasn't any flatter drawn a map that works on a flat earth and become the most famous cartographer ever?

Why has not one person in the millions that are in the conspiracy ever blown the whistle on the global deception? 

The haven't because they can't because the earth is not flat.

Seriously, I believe that only three or four members here truly believe the earth is flat. Most of the others just like to argue, (or debate, if you like that term better).

To the argument that the world is round, period. So you're here to convert anyone that is wondering or thinks it would be a worth while endeavor to explore the possibility. OK, I suppose that is a valid point, except that doesn't really solve anything. Your not answering anything to the effect of a massive cover up. You're not assuaging any fears that there might be a larger answer for ALL the phenomena and we as a civilization might not like it.

Again, what are you afraid of? You think it's going to hurt something to overfly the poles? I'm not afraid of being wrong. I'm more afraid of not ever going out there to try. I am hoping the world is round. Because it means I can stop wondering of something bigger and nastier is out there.

So stop playing the lottery and dating because those are statistically unwinnable also. I won't be here long, don't worry. Just long enough to give teamwork, sharing, and validity a shot. Maybe 6 months tops. Then I'm off to my own plan. I have my own goals in settling this improbability. And before you get all wifey again, I'm pretty capable mathematically and conceptually I can follow the threads of why there's a debate between Tesla and Einstein. I've found counter points every major proof I can find; otherwise I would not be here asking.

A lesson I've learned in life is that you pay attention to the crazy ass Didacts more that the professionals. Its a lot more entertaining!

It's some 40 kilometers wider at the equator compared to diameter at the poles.

You won't see this small a variance in a photograph.

Prove it is round. To do so you must give us a full understanding of the universe and our place within it. Not just parrot what you have heard on TV. Sure, you can look outside and give us plenty of reasons how the globe model works. But there can be many roads that lead to the same destination. Many roads you have not considered. Have you considered there is no shape and we are all ones and zeros in a simulation?

Until then, an agnostic approach to the nature of everything is best. Being agnostic is a good thing. It means you will keep looking. If you resign yourself to an answer than you will stop looking and stop learning.

Don't be that monkey content with flinging faeces. Be the monkey that picks up the tool and figures out how to use it.

Proof that the earth is round is easy, very easy in fact.  Any third grader can prove the earth is round.  I will however go over the "round earth 101" class for you since you obviously havent had it.  Proof is in satellite imagery of the earth.  Both still and live action do prove the earth is spinning on an axis as a sphere.  Moon phases, eclipse phases, sunrise/sunset times being different as you head east/west, long distance air travel, season, stars visible in NH vs SH, astronauts prove the earth is round, moon landings proves the earth is round, weather patterns, just to name a few, like I said this is "round earth 101".  I will let this all sink in for you then I will get into "round earth 102" for you.  I know this level of comprehension can take some time you being a pig farmer and all, but I will be patient with you, no worries.

Compared to the flat earth "debate" on YouTube this place is a refuge where, I hope, relevant topics can be aired and discussed.

but I could not handle the abuse that is commonly hurled at any who support the Globe and especially NASA!

But why would anyone backing a globe and NASA want to be here? I can tell you that I don't hang around sites that do not hold my views unless I'm looking for perspective. And then I don't judge, educate, nor berate.

I mean if children start spouting anything weird, is that grounds to jump dead in their ass? Everyone once in a while my kids come home with climate change or how bad America is from their school and I ask until they remember to ask and it goes away. So how did all the piss and vinegar get spilled around here anyway? Wait! Let me guess.... "They started it! <->"

Again, to bring it back home. I see two things that would convince me either way:
First, several ships circumnavigate the continent, then if there is some anomaly overfly the poles en mass. Then we will know if we have to worry about a threat much closer to home or if we just need to stop these idiots trying to call ET.

I mean, if you want proof that either nobody is 'out there' or there is no 'out there' ask yourself this "we are afraid of the russians so we only advance when they advance, why would we draw attention to our impotent little dirt ball that we can't even escape or properly defend from orbital bombardment? ” NASA won't admit aliens on the moon, but they sure as hell will jump up and down screaming we're here and we are weak! I would have them all up against the wall.

I just enjoy this website for the entertainment and education and to  see the different views, perspectives  and so forth  as expressed in the posts on the forums.

For example :
If some flat earther says the distance to the moon is some distance from the earth that is some weird figure, that is entertainment.
Then, knowing what the real distance is and a round earther posts how it was measured by several methods, that is education.

This reminds me of the old quote from Billy Rose about the fairs in Dallas( Texas Centennial Exposition and Cavalcade Of Texas) and Fort Worth (Fort Worth Frontier Centennial Exposition and Casa Manana Dinner Theater) during the Texas Centennial Celebrations of 1936.:
"For entertainment,  come to Fort Worth. For education, go to Dallas."

You can both "come" and "go" to this website for both !
