Title: Yes, flat-eyed people are idiots.
Post by: MrDebunk on January 30, 2016, 03:49:40 PM
This is the dumbest argument of all time on a YouTube comment. Yes, you heard that.

From OzzelTheComposer (idc about permission to use this):
Quote
As long as you round earthers can admit here and now you believe the ground to be above the sky we are good. In other words those on the top, the North Pole, standing on the ground, are above those on the South Pole, under your ball lol. So then without a doubt, you must admit that the ground on the North Pole is above the sky on the South Pole under the Earth. Admit that where you're standing right now is above the sky and we're good. And no I don't need there is no up or down argument. That's just ridiculous. Even in class they teach you "on top of the globe and on the bottom of the globe." So just stick with this craziness where in your world the ground is above the sky. Nice one geniuses.

Above the sky.

Above the sky.

How retarded is that? Lemme explain what the sky is. It is a 100,000ft blanket over the Earth made of air, and stays gravitionally attracted to the Earth. When you walk outside, sit under a tree, you are in the sky. So are the birds chirping and the leaves falling.

You cannot be above or below something of which you are in. End of discussion.

Oh, and quote that. ^

Both, actually.

There really is no top or bottom to the globe. Or another planet for that matter. It all depends on your point of view. A space craft approaching the earth from the Antarctic side might consider that the the top of the earth.

We have just become so used to tend to think that "north is up and south is down."
I suppose an Australian might think that North America would be "down under" to him.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that most supposed flat-earthers are really fiction writers.

Of course if there are those who actually even think , much less believe, that the earth is some flat disc......Well.....It might be another story.....Whether they were idiots or not, that is. LOL

There may not be a top or bottom to a globe, but there are opposite sides. If one side of a globe is positioned so that it is pointing directly towards the north star, we can call that side the north side. The opposite side then can now be considered the south side. A person or vehicle making a journey from the north side to the south side will end up upside down when they reach the south side. To me, size should not matter. A baseball with an ant on it or a globe the size of the earth with a human on it. I can't see how anyone can argue with that. If you do, please give me an example of a globe not working that way.
