Anyone else do anything for Halloween? I was Abbath from Immortal. Yay for Halloween and black metal!

Sweet.
Personally I hate the American assimilation of culture and refuse to celebrate any American celebrations when I don't live there. If I did live in America I would dress up as my evil twin (I actually have a twin).

You hate it when America assimilates other cultures into its own?
-
Last I checked, Halloween wasn't an American celebration. Blame the Pagans.

I was Hugh Hefner and my wife was a playboy bunny. We met up with my sister, her sister and their boyfriends and went to a block party two of the upscale bars here had. Expensive to get in, expensive to drink and it took twenty minutes to take a piss, but fun was still had.

If you read the rest of the post you'll see that I'm clearly talking about celebrating Halloween in Australia. Not about celebrating Halloween in general. There's nothing wrong with celebrating Halloween in America.
While Halloween may be a pagen festival - as it says at wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween
"Most other Western countries have embraced Halloween as a part of American pop culture in the late 20th century."
Australia definitely counts as one of those countries. 70 years ago nobody in Australia would have celebrated it. Even 30 years ago it would have been very rare. Today it still goes almost un noticed but it's becomming increasingly more common.

Feh. I just handed out candy to stupid kids at my door... most of my friends go to a REAL college where professors actually give homework on Halloween...

But you're still saying that you won't celebrate Halloween because it's American.
I'd dress up like I did every day if I could. Unfortunately, Halloween is about the only day that I'll get people thinking it's cool, instead of just getting dirty looks.

Ah, see, I would have called that "assimilation of American culture."
That's funny. I love assimilation of Australian culture...

Sweet, I was gonna be Nergal from Dimmu, but that kinky spiky leather is wayy too expensive for my taste. So I was the boner fairy, essentially a fairy with a strap on. No pictures, sorry.
-
Haha, that sounds like a quality costume CK.
-
I dressed up as an internet addict. I basically just hunched over my computer all night and it was just like a crack addict who was better fed, never gets laid, and is still just as pale.
-
A guy in one of my classes dressed as Star Wars Kid
(For anyone who doesn't know about Star Wars Kid, go here: )
-
Gnarly, but you shoulda been the drummer with the witch-hat (in the video where they're running through the forest/dancing in some ruins)
Haha. I think that's the video for Grim and Frostbitten Kingdom? So hilarious. I love those guys. I probably will be Horgh next year. Mostly because I am a drummer myself.
By the way, you can't tell in the picture, but I even had my fly open, and anyone has seen the Sons of Northern Darkness promo photos will get the joke, I'm sure.

Nergal? I don't recall anyone called Nergal ever play for Dimmu...
-
Yea good call, I just look, Nergal plays for Behemoth, I was thinking Shargrath, their singer, oops.
-
Ah ha. I gotcha now. We talkin' old school pre-Spiritual Black Dimensions, or after? I have never quite understood the weird gill lines he does now.
-
Post, yea... theyre a bit strange, I was thinking the way he looks on the Progenies of the Great Apoclypse video.
-
Should you really be listening to Black Metal, won't God smite you or something?
-
If God put it on the Earth, and makes is so freaking awesome, it can't be wrong (and yes I realize the flaws... doublethink ftw.)
-
...Or else Satan put it on Earth to tempt you with the brutal satisfaction of the vocals, hypnotizing blast beats of the drums, grinding pleasure of the rythmns, and mathematical ludicrousness of the leads?
-
Nah. I would bet that if there were a God, he'd listen to metal. Country is the satan music.
-
Country is what Satan came up with to torment those true Christians he couldn't sway. Black Metal is what he came up with to entice those he could lead off the path.

What part of doublethink was confusing?

The part where you originally spelled it "doublething", then edited your post to cover up. [/grammar nazi strikes!]
-
What editing... that never happened. Lies Foolish lies.

d00dz? John Cash FTW! Yeah, metal rocks, too! \m/
-
John Cash is a very important exception, of course.

Ooh. I finally figured out what video it's from. Call of the Wintermoon. No idea why I thought it was Grim and Frosbitten Kingdom.

Such a hilarious band. I don't know how they expect to be taken seriously, but at the same time I don't think they do expect anyone to take them seriously.
-
Man, If it was prevolent enough here to actually get involved, I'd totally go as anyone from Gwar LOL!
I disagree with beasty but, I've been seeing less and less of Haloween out here since i was a youngster - this year I didn't see a single person dressed up going around the neighbourhood!
-
Last year, if I had gone, I could have gone as Blind Guardian's singer. I swear I looked a LOT like him! Sadly, I cut my hair in an effort to look slightly presentable, and I look metal no more.

Fracking trolls... at least this kind can be banned, unlike the "FE is n00bs!" variety.
