Remember; before you post photos keep in mind that every proponent of FET is a trained photo specialist that can quickly determine if a photo is faked by simply looking at it.
-
to a Zetetic, looks like the lit portion of a disc
thanks for sharing
-
You are on acid if you think that even remotely resembles a disc.
-
that is a a wide angle lens and is quite distorted to be fair.
-
I think that it looks like the lit portion of a disk and I am as sober as Ichy.
-
Man I did expect shallow answers however, not this shallow - when I said "would THIS convince you" I didn't mean this specific photo... Jesus!
I meant would a high jump from an altitude similar to this convince you, AS, there would be no distorted lens there, it would be you on your own witnessing the Earth beneath you. Even with, say, how messed up your vision was, you would not be able to spot all the continents, apart from, obviously deducting the Earth was in fact round and a globe...
So, considering all the crazy replies I read on this site I think the cheapest way for an FE-er would be to do the high jump.
IMO it doesn't have to be as this one from the outer rim... Something a little bit less than 40kms would do as well.
(Apart from this you fail on the distance between argentina and australia, but lets not bring that up again since you are not unanimous about FE map...)
-
erm you said would this convince you and you posted a picture. of course people are going to think you are referring to the picture.
and no you wont convince anybody and neither will a high altitude jump. mainly because only a few people have done this. in fact many more people have been into space because its safer.
ill save you 100s of posts now and ill give you some advice; dont bother trying to convince anyone here that the earth is a globe. its a pointless task.

No no no,
few people have done the 35-40km high jump, but there are many more who did 25-35km high jump. And you can do that fairly cheap. What you see below is not a FE.
I've got a few more photos, but I am wondering why none of the FEs tried this. It is something they would all look for: a cheap way (as they all claim to be poor and not having $$ to fund serious scientific experiments) to prove their point.
-
thats because the fes is more about supporting a fantasy. personally i do not think anyone here really believes in fet. its just a thought experiment. so why bother spending just £1 on going up there and risking life and limb if you already know the answer?

Here is a shot from ground level. Clearly the lens is distorting the horizon.

first of all that is obviously not the same camera.
second: don't believe what any lens shows you - do it yourself... do the high jump and know for yourself.

Sorry Tom, does that mean something?
-
I'm no genius but I assume he's saying that a presumably straight pole appears curved due to distortion of the image.
Bingo.
-
I'd crap myself if I had to do that.

Bingo.
Not very zetetic to assume it's straight, is it? And image distortion was already established many posts agao, and the OP also explained that that was not the intent of his post. Do try to keep up.

But, the camera booms are straight. You should research a topic before you post.

No, the OP said do it yourself, not that it was not the intent. Do try to keep up.
P.S. I see you have not worked on your reading skills during your time out.

Exactly!
And with so many flatout...sorry, flatearth believers, I suppose they could raise money for their cause and send someone trustworthy to do the jump. Tom Bishop would be my suggestion, with Thork on silver medal for the spot, should TB chicken out...

lurk more. tom is a liar and thork will tell you its flat even if he saw otherwise.

This thread proves only one thing: it is that thise document cannot be accounted for a proof of a RE.

ok, but doesnt a lens distort more at the edges? because the earth has more of a curve than the pod does. just saying.

See post #10. At ground level, the horizon has the same amount of curve as the pic in the OP.
-
Here is video from the capsule on the same flight:
Felix Baumgartner's Test Jump - Red Bull Stratos (http://#ws)
Look at 1:33-1:36 in the video.
Look at 2:47-53 in the video
It's pretty clear that the horizon is flat when he opens the door to the capsule, and that it looks curved when seen from the wide angle view outside of the capsule. I do not care what else you think you can explain away. The evidence is right there in front of you. There was no curvature at that height.
-
but ski the fes accepts there is a lit disc at that height or as some say curvature.
-
I would expect to see some slight curvature at altitude. I have said as much. I have seen pictures from high altitude flights that seem to depict this effect. This is not one of them.
-
We need to start calling this "pseudo-curvature" or something. It is getting rather old having RE'ers post high altitude pictures that, even if the Earth were round, would not depict any actual curvature.

it already has a name, its a wide angle lens

Actually, it's called barrel distortion.

cant both be accounted for?
