Title: New member of FEB ...
Post by: Thork on February 22, 2011, 02:56:45 PM

Gotham is a lovely guy and deserves to be in ... as does EG who has been snubbed again. I am also somewhat bemused that Gotham's 612 posts have been of better quality than my 2200 or EG's 7000. And surprised that threads on shrimp on the moon, harmful moonlight, fish nugding boats etc are deemed more worthwhile than those about industrial flat glass, satellites and temperatures, aircraft threads etc. but I'm sure the Council has weighed all this up.

Good luck to Mr Gotham. I wish you more success in your quest to preach flat earth truths.

And the trolls win another battle... Against themselves?

Sad to see you less, Thork. You were a good troll. Had fun  :)

I'm not a troll >:(

Its mallicious slander like that, that has undoubtedly ensured my contribution to the site is valued so little.

Yeah, well. Your avatar probably isn't helping anything, either.

His avatar is a classic case of satire. Can someone not be a flat earth beliver and also have a sense of humor?

Actually, I think it's necessary...

it is sad that you have to buy your way into being an "official member"

Who is Master Lord Willmire? I can't find anyone on this site by that name. ???

Thork, you need to kick your asskissing into high gear.

Thork's post have partly convinced me, same with EG's, while after reading 5 of gotham's posts I just started ignoring them as he never wrote anything more than "read the thread again, your answer was there" when it was clearly not. Too bad Thork, hope they will appreciate your qualities in due time.

Nah, Thork broke character a while back, that's a no-no for believers.

The large difference between Thork and Gotham was Thork's 'arguments' require a fair amount of research to what he posted.  Anyone can invent bendy light and eternal fractilizing land masses and dino-bird-boat-people theories - but he took real life context and... well I never needed to know so much about glass till now.

BTW - float glass processes are not used for optical quality glass products as there is still too many imperfections.

The process to get Gotham started in Nov '10.  My suggestion is just be patient.  There are believers here that have been here for years and never had access.

I visited the site regularly for years and was never offered it until I was made moderator due to the merge with .net.

One of the reasons I went ahead with gotham despite numerous doubts was by your suggestion.  So I have to wonder why you think you are valued so little here.

Perhaps there should be two FEB sections. The 'FE Old Boys' Club' would remain as the most prestigious forum, and it would be joined by an intermediate forum, an 'FE Creche', for the rest of us who profess to believe FET.

There are already several sections to handle your request.  For the more serious non-FEB members, there are FE General, Q&A and Debate and Discussion.  For the less serious non-FEB members, there is RM.

Please do not misunderstand me. Gotham is exactly the sort of person I think should be in FEB. It needs freshening up, and people who will generate threads in there for the rest of us to debate. I have no doubt Gotham will be a super addition. He is fun to read, interesting and a bit quirky. He is also patient with noobs and a good ambassador for the site. I just don't see how he was at the front of the queue, when EG for example has been rejected twice.

Anyway, I haven't been drinking today so I am not as bothered. The sun keeps revolving regardless.

Personally, I believe that the FEB needs members who will use the forum to encourage debate among the leading FET researchers to help unite the various FE models into one, coherent model that resolves some of the more serious FET controversies (UA, EAT, finite/infinite plane, etc.).

This is why Gotham is a good choice. He starts lots of threads. :) He will get some debate going on in there.

I certainly hope so.  FET is in serious need of consensus on some of the more basic concepts.

I was not aware that EG had been rejected twice, where should I look for this?

Well granted, I have not applied to the  "Zetetic Council" , but I do believe that prior to when it was formed I have pm'ed both Wilmore and Daniel my interest joining FEB. (Not at the same time)

Though Gotham does not engage fully in debate as Thork and EG do, I think he is if nothing else genuine in his professed beliefs. And is this not the point of FEB, to only accept people who believe the Earth is flat?

FET is complex business and I take it very seriously.  I consider myself a problem solver and will become involved in some of the unresolved issues with FET.  I have some catching up to do, but my quest is sincere.

I just became a lot busier during the day for a short time so I wasn't lurking (learning) as much, but my task is to be a questioner, searcher, and solver, as time allows.
