Here is one of many experiments you can do to physically prove that the Earth is round. Do it yourself, and unless YOU are part of the "conspiracy" you can proove that the Earth is round.

-See the round earth for yourself through satelittes http://earth.google.com With Google Earth (I have done this myself) you can zoom on to individual people on city streets and easily see cars). If you live in a city you can zoom in and see your own home. This would not be possible with a flat Earth.

How come no one has taken a picture of the flat Earth yet or some sort of visual evidence? Why aren't there more flat Earth websites? If they are being deleted as part of "the conspiracy", why hasn't this one?

Eratosthenes experiment depends on the sun being much farther than FE'ers believe it to be.

I'm pretty sure he's asking how can you believe the Sun actually exists at the distance you believe it does, being as powerful as it is. You know, the hydrogen and helium fueling.

Oh, hm, I guess that if FEers say it's a lot closer, they might as well also believe that it's not as powerful as RE scientists say it is. The energy output of the sun is computed assuming a certain distance, not derived from first principles.

The FE's don't trust science (which is basically logic, and they don't trust logic either). If you don't trust science, which is the only field that says the Sun exists, how can you trust that it exists but not that the Earth is round? Sure, you can see it, but you can see that the Earth is round as well. The sun is just a giant government-made lightbulb. I'd show you my proof, but the government took it.

No. Logic is simply a tool used in science. As for "not trusting logic", I don't think you'll find any FEers doubting, for example, that if
All chickens are birds
and
All birds have wings
then,
chickens have wings.
They may doubt the soundness of the claims, for example; is the object in question truly a chicken? Or, do all birds have wings? but you won't find them doubting the validity of your logic.
To clarify things for you, when we refer to "the sun", we refer to that big shiny thing in the sky during the day. We are willing to concede that it is not, fact, a lightbulb, simply because the theory does not require it to, besides that is completely ludicrous.

Don't you realize that the assertion that the Earth is flat is even more ludicrous? The Sun (and possibly all stars) could be hyper-advanced technology created by extra terrestials; massive ultra-high-tech light bulbs (with a machine core and chemical outside). As far-out as that sounds, there is nothing to prove for certain it isn't true (wheras there IS for the shape of the Earth); it isn't nearly as far-fetched as "the Earth is flat."

Exactly - it's only 30 or so miles across, it's not really that strong.

Dogplatter, perhaps you should read the link Ubuntu provided, because guess what. There's an entire section devoted to how they proved that the earth was round in about 200 B.C. with basic math principles. Ironically, though the site doesn't mention it, this is also the same basic math (with a few more equations added onto it, but the same concept) that proved how far the sun is away from the earth, what it's diameter is, and why that means how much power it has to emit. Stop being an ignoramus.

Dogplatter, from looking at it with your own eyes you can tell it is larger than 30 miles. Look at the portion of the sky it takes up. Now think of how far away it is. You cannot reach it with an aeroplane or other aircraft. If you take the distance from the ground, the sun/sky ratio, and the size of the sky, there you have the size of the sun.

Wow you guys, thanks for pointing out this error in the theory. According to my ephemeris, he sun's current apparent size is 1888 arc seconds, or 0.0091533 radians -- about half a degree of arc. The ratio of the sun's radius to its distance from us is the tangent of half that angle, or, in this case, 0.0045767.
In other words, if the sun is 3000 miles away its radius must be 13.370 miles, i.e. it's diameter is 26.740 miles (not 32). If however its diameter is 32 miles (radius 16), then it must be 3496 miles away.
We should have been more precise.
