Ships actually recede over the horizon, disappearing hull-first. In a flat-earth model, they should simply get smaller and smaller until no longer visible, assuming that light travels in a straight line.
You can recreate these circumstances with an ball and an toy car.
Travelers going south see southern constellations rise higher above the horizon. This is only possible if their "straight up" direction is at an angle to northerners' "straight up". Thus Earth's surface cannot be flat.
These points are in my mind everytime I read this forum, and I just had to register to ask them.
I want an answer.
I, myself as an scientist with many grades, am open to discussion on these things, and if one can give me enough material to prove his theory, I can easily believe it myself.
But, on these forums, I have seen unsufficient prove or anything of that matter. This leads me to believe that this society has been called into life just for creating arguments without believing their own stance.
I am not here to bash. I am here to pose a few questions and I would appreciate an answer on these.
This leads me to my final point:
The border of the shadow of Earth on the Moon during the partial phase of a lunar eclipse is always circular, no matter how high the Moon is over the horizon. Only a sphere casts a circular shadow in every direction, whereas a circular disk casts an elliptical shadow in most directions.
Answer me, please.
I am always open to learn new things.

Well, since you're a scientist, they're going to say that you are a part of the conspiricy, and you're being payed to support the round earth theory.
And for the ship moving over the horizon, to them it is an illusion. How it is an illusion, they've never explained.

I can't foresee their comments, but I have stated multiple times that I am open to learn new things if I have enough information.

basically they say that water spray scatters the light, the further away you are the more spray there is so the more of it you can't see, and the reason why it sinks bottom first is because there is more water spray closer to the water.
-
What they do not seem to have an answer for is for the corealis effect on a free hanging pendulum, there also do not seem to have a reason for the conspiracy that keeps this under wraps other than "we know its flat they say it aint, therefore they are conspiring against us"
another thing that i have not seen an answer for is how a spot light has shadows (the craters on the moon) and the earth reflecting light onto the moon (can't mind what it is called) they do not seem to have an answer to.

An interesting stance, which could actually be true even though it sounds at least a bit far-fetched.
Another thing I'm wondering is, how can it be, that if the sun goes down and disappears at the horizon in my country, in another country it is exactly above peoples heads. Even if it isn't that high above earths altitude we should be able to see it if we are in an high tower, but we are not.
Since the human mind is always dwelling with new questions upon thinking about a certain matter, I will stop asking them now because 5 questions are more easily answered then 10.

Isn't that sufficient? Unless you can find a better reason for the government to keep telling us that the earth is round if it's actually flat we'll just have to assume that's what it is.
-
Actually, nevermind.
I have read many posts by now and I've come to the conclusion that this is all a joke.
Goodbye all.
-
I'm sorry but it isn't a very good reason. it is a logical point to get to yes, that I know the world is flat, but he says the world is round, thereofre he must be lying.
ok, i can understand that but that ain't the question. the question is WHY IS HE LYING? what can he possibly gain from fooling me?
-
This whole forum is nonsense, people are just here to piss others off.
If you aren't, might I suggest you sell your tv, sell those 1000 movies you've watched in your life.
The earth being a sphere has been proved so many times, and can be seen in so many conditions.
This is ridicolous, and I refuse to believe that people on this earth exist who are so stupid that they believe this.
A very funny joke, however; I recommend everybody here to never visit this page again.

There are many reason why someone would do something like that: money, control, power. Just because we don't know the reason doesn't mean there isn't one.
Once again, I'm not a flat earther, I just don't believe that this is really a mark against the FE theory, as many people seem to think.
And Dr. Bakerfield, I think you, like so many others, have missed the entire point if this forum.

I think Dr. Bakerfield is absolutely right. We should take his lead.
