So, I understand. I get it. You think the earth is flat. That's great. But I just don't understand why. Rather, I don't understand why it matters. I read the FAQ. I understand profit makes the evil government men with their big bad wars and guns feel happy. I just don't understand though why the fact that they're saying the Earth is round is upsetting everyone so much. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that they could have said the Earth was flat and still gotten funding. The Earth being believed to be round is not a new thing, people believed this before NASA was in existence. I guess I just don't understand what the Earth being flat effects. Does it affect your daily life, your pursuit of happiness, real problems? I'm not saying it doesn't and by all means feel free to rip this post to shreds, but all I'm asking for is a reason. I want to know a motive besides "money". This just seems so trivial. The Earth is flat, the Earth is round, yeah if it was flat and I'd been lied to all these years it would definitely upset me but I just cant find a motive to lie about something like that, especially something that was widely believed before these supposed pictures of the Earth were taken. Rather, I believe it would have made more sense for them to say the Earth was flat. This was much less widely believed and I have a feeling that if they'd "proven" something like that, they would make much a larger profit off it, because it would catch more peoples interest by completely changing the belief that was already instilled in everyone's heads.
Also, completely unrelated but just curiosity. If the Earth is flat, what's supposed to be on the other side?

They study FET for the same reason that "normal" scientists pursue "normal" lines of research: the pursuit of truth, in general. It just so happens that their version of what is real is very different from the rest of us.
