2 weeks ago in sunday school we looked on Google Earth (if you dont know what that is then look for it!!) I found it very confusing how can they make it round?? It looks so real but it's NOT TRUE IT CANT BE!!!
It came because we were talking about the earth and it seems that the other kids all think it is a sphere??? and I said it was flat and I tried to find in the bible where my mom had showed me where it says it's flat but couldn't find it :-[ and then they took me to the computers and showed me Google Earth.
What do yo think? I still think it is flat (there's no ice walls in google earth, it's stupid(

I'd also like to point out Google Sky. It's the same thing as Google Earth, except it shows the sky. It shows the sky in all directions, the sky over Earth (North), and the sky below Earth (South in an RE'er's case)
-
Dude, Google Earth is just flat pictures distorted to fit onto a round ball. It works because the pictures are small enough that you do not notice the distortion of the picture, where it would be most visible around the edges.
-
even in google earth, when you rotate the land, you can see that its flat and not round.
another win for FE! this time in google earth!
-
No it doesn't, as i said before get a FE map and i may believe you. Noone seemed to of made a flat map in the last...ever. Funny that. If a round earth is a distortion or a map of lies then surely a flat earth map will be seriously easy to make in comparison because everything should slot into place better.
Good to know you have another bible basher in you ranks :P

Annoyingly, google earth actually is pictures from satellites stuck on a digital ball. But then the question is "if satellites dont exist, how are the pictures taken?

they are cleverly drawn fakes.
-
Very clever since they have drawn my road EXCACTLY how it is. The artists must of been paid like unlimited money. Ask yourself this, where did they get access to seeing my garden, all the plants in my garden and all my friends, perfectly exact. MAn fetFTW, you talk utter crap

Or maybe they werent taken by a satellite.

zoom in and tilt the camera angle. you will clearly see the curvature

The only other way I can think of to take the pictures is with planes, but that wouldnt work because you would have to photograph an impossibly large area.

Why is it possible with satelites but impossible from aircraft?
-
because they are higher and faster, they have larger footprint.
-
So it would be more labour intensive to do it from aircraft. That does not make it impossible.

No, you are all wrong - it was pixies who drew it. It was just sheer fluke that it happened to precisely fit a globe in the correct manner.
Thus it is more proof of a conspiracy.

What do you mean it precisely fits a globe in the correct manner?

Sr-71. U-2. Sound familiar?
Besides, most of the hi-rez is limited to fairly populated areas. The boonies are still low-rez for the most part.

Nothing is missing where the folds should be

the higher detail photos are taken from planes, and only some by google
-
Even spy planes could not photograph the entire earth. They are higher and faster than normal planes, but still in a different league to satelites. Besides, that cost a ridiculous sum (care to guess what the fuel cost would be to fly around the world thousands of times? Plus wages, wear and tear, crashes, etc). It would decades, even with every spy plane in the world.

True but the vast expanses of desert still need representation, even if it is low-res. I accept that much of google earth is taken from planes, but only highly populated areas or landmarks. Most of google earth is from companies like JSI (Japan space imaging corperation).

I find it funny that Google even admits that some of their pictures come from aircraft...
-
if you read my last post i just said that! >:(

Cartographers. They do all kinds of maps. SO why not a map of the earth?

Because they are all in on the conspiracy, those that aren't are assassinated.

Pathetic.
Interesting question, do any ancient maps suggest that the earth is flat. Ancient as in the time of the people mapping the Americas after they were found.
-
It is made of satellite images... satellites are real and they stay above the earth like the sun and the planets do.
Don't deny satellites FErs... I am an FEr but I do not deny that there are satellites and space rockets and shuttles.

No, because of course Columbus was the Chief Conspiritor by coming up with the ridiculous theory that the earth is round.

Orbital space flight is impossible - Tom Bishop said so, therefore it must be true.

What about the rest of the pictures? Just out curiosity, who do you suppose took the high resolution pictures of Pyongyang, North Korea? According to Google Earth, the imagery is credited to Digital Globe (a satellite imagery company).
http://www.digitalglobe.com/
A highly placed member of the conspiracy bilking its customers out of untold sums of money, or a legitimate company providing a real service as advertised? You be the judge.

Can someone please answer my question (at the top of this page).
-
What question?

Unfortunatley you seem to have the wrong idea - we flat earthers don't do answering questions, that would make us part of the conspiracy.
-

Sorry, the post at the top of the page was just me arguing an unsatisfactory answer. this is the original question.
-
Ah. Well, either planes or stratellites.
-
didnt i just show planes wouldnt work? and how could STs take pictures if they have a distorting lens in front of them.
-
win for FE, conspiracies!
-
You can see that the earth is round when you look out to sea. End of story really.

Troll? If you honestly believe the bible word for word you are stupid.
-
I don't take fiction seriously. If I did I would be more likely to believe in Harry Potter than Jesus Christ.
Besides, wouldn't it be easier to not make Google Earth than make it and waste the money on plane fuel and shit?
lol, +1.
Yes, of course. Using planes to take pictures of nearly all land on earth would be extremely impractical.
-
Here's an interesting story that may raise some more interesting questions about Google's involvement in the conspiracy: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080908-new-satellite-to-give-google-maps-unprecedented-resolution.html
Google has taken the war over exclusive web content into space. Not directly, of course—the satellite that was recently launched into space on a rocket bearing the Google logo was the result of a joint venture between a commercial satellite imaging provider and the department of defense. In return for undisclosed terms, Google got two considerations: its logo on the side of the launch vehicle, and exclusive use of the mapping images that the satellite produces.
-
Again, can someone answer my question.
-
Okay. The further out pictures on google earth are taken from satellites. Once you get to a certain zoom, they become images taken from planes, thus you can see a lot of stuff in high detail. A lot of people have been claiming it to be impractical, but in many areas on Google Earth, only a certain zoom can be achieved as they didn't feel the need to take such detailed pictures in these areas.
-
That is true and it is why clouds are there in the satelite photos but not the plane photos because the planes fly below the clouds :)
although... that backs up RE :-\ ummm its still flat
-
No, It's not.
