I've tried to explain this before, but I guess I didn't make myself clear enough. If the RE conspiracy was orchestrated by the American government to frighten its enemies, then they could easily get rid of this site and kill the people who made it, all without raising an alarm. They have done it before. Example:
After 9/11, the government immediately took down all websites they felt were "unpatriotic", for instance, Whitehouse.org. Few people noticed because Bush manipulated 9/11 to serve his interests: "Blindly supporting me is patriotic". Everyone had been shocked into worshipping Bush, so only a few people noticed he was determined to crush dissent.
We have something similar with this site. Very few people have heard of the FES, let alone become members. The government, if they felt exposing the conspiracy violated national security, would have the CIA or the NSA easily take care of us. They could take down the website with all their hacking equipment, and then kill the top few mods or admins to make sure it would never emerge again. Most of us probably don't know each other in real life, there's no way we'd know without this site if a member was killed.
Afterwards, only the regulars (let's face it: there aren't very many of us) would notice the site is gone. With the possible exception of Tom Bishop, it wouldn't be that much of a big deal in our lives. And almost no one would believe it was the government because almost no one believes in the conspiracy.
I will admit, if, as most FEers claim, the conspiracy is not the work of the intelligence community, but rather a few greedy people at the top of NASA, then they could not shut down this website and my argument is defeated. Contrary to what you see in movies or on TV, having a high rank in the government does not give you access to assassins or Special Ops. However, I am certain I have showed you that this conspiracy, if it exists, is not the work of the American government.

Dissagree.
-
All right, Elizabeth, why do you "dissagree"?
-
Faulty premise. You seem to assume that the powers that control the conspiracy work in the same way as the powers that currently control the US government. The fact is, the idea of a flat earth is so universally seen as ludicrous* that the conspiracy would have no need to shut this site down, as nobody takes it seriously anyway.
*with good reason, of course.

But according to a theory of Tom's, the government IS the conspiracy, and everything is done for national security.
-
The FE numbers are absolutely minimal, almost non-existent. The government would be wasting there time shutting down this site and killing its owners because they honestly thought it was a threat (::)).

But according to a theory of Tom's, the government IS the conspiracy, and everything is done for national security.
Ludicrous.

There's the problem right there. It's insane leading the inept.
-
The point of my thread was to point out that Tom's theory is completely wrong.

So were the 9/11 sites.
Besides, if the conspiracy was solely the United States government, how is it that the other nations of the world have not spoken up? Surely not under threat of Nuclear War, right?
The conspiracy would have to be worldwide to work. And I've said this before, regarding such cooperation, it's nearly impossible to get all the major political powers of the world to cooperate in such a fashion. The only possible way it would work, would be if all the political issues, poverty, etc were all mere cover ups to allow the nations to buy the time necessary to cooperate covertly. And I highly doubt that is the case, what with us just recently executing a major political figure and all. ::)

I can be gay like theengineer.

You only wish you could be TheEngineer ::)

Right, if the gov shuts us down we regroup at FMS and rebuild the site!
-
I think that I (Tom Bishop) am the only active member of the FMS right now.

A alternate forum about a forum... what exactly is the purpose?
-
I reckon Tom or someone will hack FES and shut it down. He will then feel satisfied that he has demonstrated a conspiracy, but will have no space to gloat about it. The forethought required to avoid this hitch is beyond his grasp of course...
-
No, I don't think so.

No, I don't think so.
This is why you have no friends.
-
Excellent, I've resurrected this topic!
-
/move
-
No! I think this thread is cool.
-
..because you made it... But if you keep this talk up it will for sure be moved.
-
Fine. Let's get back to my point.
If this conspiracy exists, it is not the work of the U. S. government, it is the work of some greedy leaders of NASA.
-
back to MY point, if we get shut down, FMS is ready to pick up the pieces
-
There's TRES, too. EVERYONE OFF TO TRES! I'M A MOD THERE!
-
Why would we want to go to RES? Gulliver probably bitches constantly about being banned from here.
But I support FMS. I'm Tom Bishop there.
-

LOL. The Round Earth Society is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. "A society dedicated to proving once and for all, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Earth is round." LMAO.
It's the best demonstration I've seen of the subversive effect this site has on people. ;D
-
Actually Gulliver is never there. It's just that one admin who's there.
-
Is that right? Doesn't matter, my point still remains.
-
Yea, but it's still a fun site.
-
"everyone was shocked into supporting bush..."
pretty sure I wasn't. I've been against him since the beginning, but thanks for the generalization.
-
You're welcome! ;)
