The Lounge / Some life updates
« on: October 06, 2023, 11:49:24 AM »
So it's been a minute since I've been here so I guess I'll give you guys an update of what's been going on for those who care. For those following my career path since graduating the police academy, I'm now working for a county jail as corrections and I'm in the National Guard as a combat engineer. As far as politics goes, I've shifted more and more left. Finally, for all the shit I've said about the LGBT community being a front to God, some of y'all predicted it but yeah, I realized I was gay and came out about 2 years ago. In fact I'm starting to have serious doubts about Christianity altogether.

The Lounge / I'm no longer a conspiracy theorist.
« on: October 31, 2018, 04:11:20 PM »
As some of you may know and seen, I used to be a conspiracy theorist. I've promoted conspiracy theories such as 9/11 being an inside job, chemtrails, shootings like Sandy Hook being a hoax, etc. Basically I was your mid tier conspiracy theorist where I didn't fall for every conspiracy theory I happen upon but I did believed in some of the more mainstream theories out there.

How I got into conspiracy theories in the first place basically started with my interest in UFOs. My dad once saw some when he was a teenager and that got me curious as to what he saw. I listened to an array of speakers and radio talk show host (surprisingly I didn't listen to Alex Jones. His antics never appealed to me) and still do listen to some for their other content.

What actually started my journey out of the conspiracy thoery community was when I decided I wanted to become a cop. The more I learned about police and police work, the more I realized that they are human like me with the same interests. By the time I graduated from the academy, I've came to the conclusion that police don't have niether the will nor the resources to hoax something like Sandy Hook.

Things came to a head, one day, when I thought to myself "hey, if I only believed that the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax simply due to my ignorance on the subject, what else am I believing in simply due to my ignorance?" That's when I remembered one of the posters on this site linked to YouTube channel called Myles Power in a 9/11 thread. I decided to watch the whole series with an open mind and the series basically answered all of my questions about that event.

Fast forward to today. I've pretty much renounced all of the conspiracy theories I believed in by listening to counter arguments. There are still some things I have questions on, some things that I'm still a bit weary of, and some things I'm still convinced is true. But all and all, you can't confuse me with Alex Jones with what I believe or don't believe.

The Lounge / I resigned.
« on: April 01, 2018, 07:24:48 AM »
Been a while since I did an update, and no, the title is not clickbait and I'll get to it later. But first I'll go over what I've been doing the last couple of months.

In around mid February, I went on a ride along in one of the busier cities in the the county. Right off the bat we did a traffic stop and we had lights and sirens on. No one was ticketed because the printer wasn't working. We did a few more stops and then we moved on to some administrative stuff. We went to the court house and the deputy gave the job of asking for the judge to sign some paperwork. After that we responded to a domestic call. the home owner wanted a friend of his out of the house and because of a legal technicality, he had to get an eviction notice in order to have her out of the house. We then did a mental patient transport where it was a teenager wanted to commit suicide, so we transported him to the hospital. Along the way there was an armed suspect call at a gas station that I want to respond to but we couldn't. the last call we did was to take a report from someone who had his old car engine turned flower pot stolen. We were able to track it down to the salvage yard and identified the suspect to be arrested later.

Then in late February, I did a security detail for a convention center in my county. It was a home show where people would exhibit home services and appliances like garage installations. My job was to basically walk around and be seen and when closing is starting, prevent people from using the front entrance to load the bulky and heavy stuff and instead use the loading dock in the back. There were two that I had to tell them to use the back entrance. One had a podium and the other had a giant TV screen. To be honest I could've let the guy with the podium load out front but I was new and didn't knew exactly what "bulky and heavy" consists of. However the TV screen was a no brainer. Though in both cases I felt kinda bad for inconveniencing them, but it was the rules by the convention center.

The next day after the detail, the auxiliary unit I'm with did some defensive tactics training. Not much to say other than it was a refresher of what I did in the academy with some new techniques thrown in.

Earlier last month last month i did a security detail at the same convention center and this time it was a music field trip for a bunch of school children. Everything went rather smoothly and there were a lot of kids who smiled and waved a me.

And now I will discuss the title. the unit has a minimum amount of volunteer hours that each member is required to fill every month. Most of the details to volunteer for is on Saturday and as some of you may know, I'm a Messianic (Christian) Jew and can't volunteer to work on Saturdays. If it was a set schedule that I can't change then I can do it but I can't voluntarily work on Saturday. So rather lag behind and not meet the minimum requirements, I decided that it would be best that I resign from the unit. Don't worry, I'm leaving in good standing and I'm currently applying for my local city department as a full time officer. the recruiter recognized me from the academy so that sounds good at least. I submitted the city application and finished the 27 page questionnaire that I had to hand write in the answers, I Just need to get the thing notarized. the next step would be the PAT (Physical Abilities Test) course and then I would go in for an interview before going any further.

Hey guys. Sorry for no updates recently. Mostly due to laziness. Anyway I'm going to go over what's been happening the last couple of months.

First off, I need to clarify that technically I'm not law enforcement. I'm auxiliary law enforcement. When I'm not on duty and not with a deputy or on a special detail I don't have arrest powers. I'm just a regular citizen. In fact I'm not even allowed to carry my badge.

Where the first part of the clickbait title comes in is when I swore in, I was supposed to stay to receive paperwork telling me what authority do I have. Well, I thought we were done after the ceremony and left home early. And we wouldn't meet again until the following month. So in the mean time, I was thinking that I was a full fledged cop that works for free on the weekends. I carried my badge in my pocket and show it to friends and told a person that I was law enforcement. Thankfully I didn't try to exert my percieved authority on anybody. When the next meeting came they gave me the paperwork and told me what authority I had. After that, I no longer carried my badge while off duty.

Other things that went on this month was filling out a whole bunch of paperwork including signing that I'll never speak of the Antartic Guard nor the true nature of penguins or you'll never hear of me again. I also had to sign policies online which wasn't all that bad.

Where the second part of the clickbait title comes in is when I had to go qualify with my firearm which is actually mine as I bought it with my own money. I did pretty well. We did two courses of fire and out of 40 rounds for each course, I scored 34 hits the first time and 38 the second.

Then later on in the month I scheduled a ride along with my local district and I was attacked by a dog and pulled my gun out three times.

Actually the dog was either a puppy or a small dog and it jumped up on my leg asking to be played with and the three times I pulled my gun out was the three times we visited the jail to issue out warrents and you can't bring your gun inside. So they provide a lock box to put our weapons in. The whole shift was pretty quiet.

The Lounge / I GOT HIRED.....technically.
« on: November 02, 2017, 06:52:51 PM »
As some of you may know, I recently went through the police academy which for those who didn't follow can go here.

https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=69265.0

Anyway, the last update was me passing the state exam and waiting to hear from the sheriff's office which I applied to. Long story short, there wasn't any empty slots as a full time deputy so I decided to apply for their reserve/posse program. Well, I just got back from the meeting and they said that after I pass my meducal exam, they will swear me in December. The main difference between being a posse member and full time is full time deputies get paid while posse members volunteer during special events. I would still have full arrest powers and have a gun and badge, I'll just be doing it part time as a volunteer. So unless my medical finds some disease that will kill me in three days or something, next month I'll be wearing a badge.

The Lounge / The stages of a round earther hearing about the flat earth.
« on: September 29, 2017, 03:29:04 AM »
I'm currently listening to music so forgive me if this isn't the most coherent thread you ever read.

Here is the stages I went through with the flat earth theory and I would like to see if it's similar to other round earthers.

Stage one:

I first thought only those who lived in the Medieval times thought the earth was flat.

Stage two:

I started to hear rumblings of modern people believing that the earth is flat. My response was a slight chuckle in disbelief and never gave it a second thought.

Stage three:

I started to get flat earth videos in my suggestion box on YouTube. As anyone in my position would do, I scoffed and ignored them.

Stage four:

At this stage, I was getting bugged by all the flat earth videos in my suggestion box, so I finally decided to watch a couple. At this point I still laughed at it, However I decided to let the videos try to convince me.

Stage five:

After finding out that all the videos "Proving" that the earth is flat were either 2 hours long, not long enough to make any solid points, or simply failed in making any coherent thought, I went on some of the forums I'm on to see if anyone could explain it to me. At this point, I'm still skeptical, but still willing to be convinced.

Stage six:

Well, After someone on one of the other forums I'm on linked to this site, I cautiously decided to register, fearing that I would be overwhelmed by flat earthers telling me I'm wrong and I wound up being banned. I came to ask a few questions and to be convince by solid evidence, not to be brow beaten or banned.

Stage seven:

I found out quickly that the flat earthers over here don't really have any answers either by asking a few simple questions. I was still willing to be convinced. I thought maybe some flat earth guru would explain a lot of my questions. So, I decided to stick around and in the mean time keep throwing questions that no one has answered yet. I thought maybe I instead can convince flat earthers.

Stage eight:

After feeling the forum for awhile, I got to know the main members. There are people on both sides that like. I was very active at this point in giving evidences that the earth is round.

Stage nine:

This is where I'm at now. I've slowed down a bit due to life getting in the way. I mostly skim through the threads but I subscribe to as many of them as possible. I skip over posts dealing with math because that's above my pay grade. Occasionally, I see a post worth replying pertaining to the flat earth, but mostly, I've been making friendly jabs at members.

So, that's the stages i went through with the flat earth theory. I'm very much convinced that the earth is round and unless someone takes a picture of the edge or show evidence of the Antarctic Guard, I'm staying with the round earth.

The Lounge / First week at the academy.
« on: February 09, 2017, 09:16:48 PM »
Well, I survived my first week at the Antarctic Wall Patrol...uh...I mean the police academy...yeah, the police academy. Anyway my first day was Monday and the subject was firearms. Didn't got to shoot though. However we will next Monday. Them penguins won't stand a chance. The next two days was intro to the Antartic-uh, I mean law enforcement. And my last day was intro to legal. Who am I kidding, I can't keep a secret. I'm with the Antartic Wall Patrol and they assigned me to a part past the wall that has the exact same climate as my home town. In fact that region cloned my home state in its entirity. Even the people look like the people from my home town with the same personalities.

The Lounge / I'm leaving...sorta...for awhile.
« on: January 17, 2017, 05:57:56 PM »
If you see me a bit quieter than usual in the coming months (not that I've been very active to begin with) its because I'll be in the law enforcement academy. That's right. I'll be able to arrest space cowgirl for exposing the penguin conspiracy once I graduate, apply at a department, and get hired on. The good news is I get four day weekends so I don't think I'll be that all quiet. Just thought to give you a heads up.

Flat Earth Debate / Writing in clouds from NASA.
« on: January 15, 2017, 05:09:39 PM »
We've all seen the photo of "sex" written in the clouds in the picture of the globe. In another forum I'm on a flat earther brought it up to me. I recall someone debunking it but can't recall where I've heard it. So I'm asking for sources or simple logic. Thanks.

The Lounge / Why are there so many illegal threads being made?
« on: November 04, 2016, 10:55:19 AM »
Just recently I got a new thread notification in my inbox advertising "100% undetectable counterfeit money." Of course I reported it and the mods got on it FAST. So fast that I was going to reply saying how illegal it is and I reported it but it was deleted. My question is why are there so many threads like that made on this forum? I remember another thread advertising sex and another advertising something else. I've never seen anything like this on other forums. What makes them think they can get away with it?

Flat Earth Debate / The Bible and flat earth again.
« on: October 30, 2016, 02:07:40 PM »
The last thread didn't go so well. I got blitzed by posters quoting multiple verses that I can't address because of how many they were. This time I making a new rule. Post only two or three verses at a time. I can handle multiple posters doing that at once, I can't handle multiple posters posting ten or twenty all at once. For those outside the loop this thread is talking about Bible verses that indicate that the earth is flat.

Flat Earth General / What makes a true truther/conspiracy theorist?
« on: October 29, 2016, 09:42:23 PM »
In a thread about the lunar landing I was accused of not being a true conspiracy theorist/truther because I believe the lunar landing is real. I don't understand this. I believe all sorts of conspiracy theories. Here's just a sample.

9/11

JFK

Moon/Mars bases

Fluoride is bad

GMO is bad

Vaccines are bad

UFOs are real and are demonic

Reptilians

Barney the dinosaur

So my question is why if I don't question EVERTHING the government tells us I'm not a true conspiracy theorist/truther? This goes along with not believing in a flat earth makes me not a true believer in the literal interpretation of the Bible. Each theory I believe in is based off of evidence. Some have more than others but still.

The Lounge / New theory. Stars create cricket noises!!!
« on: October 19, 2016, 01:00:52 PM »
I've been camping out in my backyard the past few days due to the Jewish holiday of Sukkoth and I heard cricket noises. The thought came to me that I don't see the crickets actually making the noise. And it only happens at night. Not only that but the Bible says that the morning stars sang together and scientists have discovered that stars do in fact make noises. So putting two and two together and the ONLY explanation is that the stars are the ones making the cricket noises. They are also the ones during winter in the northern regions making howling noises that we mistake for wolves. So I need help in funding for my theory so I can splurge on a Lamborghini- I mean,  test my completely solid theory at GoFundME. I need a Nobel prize.

The Lounge / Satellite
« on: September 12, 2016, 04:53:59 PM »
To the round earthers: this song proves beyond ALL doubt that satellites exists (not).

To flat earthers: how can you think that satellites don't exist after listening to this?

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Earth rise on the moon.
« on: September 02, 2016, 02:29:18 PM »
That's right suckas! It's lunar landing conspiracy time! For those who seen my posts for a while would know that I do believe we went to the moon but I believe that there are also lunar bases up there. But that's not the topic of the thread. My question is how did the astronauts could've seen the earth rise if one side of the moon is always facing earth? A flat earther in another forum (not the other site) sent me this video as evidence. The title is very misleading as Kent Hovind in that clip never mentioned anything about NASA.

Flat Earth Debate / Flat out wrong! Part 1
« on: August 24, 2016, 04:24:10 PM »
I'm going to start a series of threads using this guy's videos. Even though he's an athiest and attacks the Bible (not that other athiests would care all that much) he does gives some pretty good points and I don't mind listening to him. He doesn't cuss as much as Red Rhetoric and he looks a bit like Eric Hovind (which I find ironic). Anyway here's the video and once you're done you can show where he is wrong.

Flat Earth Debate / "There are no forests on flat earth"
« on: August 17, 2016, 01:04:43 PM »
Just when you thought you've heard it all with the flat earth they come up with someone even more unbelievable. The theory is that all of the mountains are actually giant tree stumps. From what I've seen the only evidence they gave was that the formations look like tree stumps. I have some serious problems with this and I'm not even a geologist nor botanist (if I've spelled it correctly).  If this is true then where are the fallen logs, root system, and tree rings? Also how can they be supported by physics? What about the tree line where there's a certain altitude where trees can't grow? I'm sure seone in the field could raise more questions but for now I'll post the hour and a half video about it.

I didn't had the patience to watch the whole thing so I found a ten minute video on it.

Whatever you do DON't associate Kent Hovind with the giant tree thing. He had little to do with it.

Flat Earth Debate / Why do you guys say the firmament is a dome?
« on: August 15, 2016, 02:43:50 PM »
I'm trying to figure out where do you guys get the idea the firmament is a dome. I'm assuming it has something to do with the Bible but in Genesis 1:8 God called the firmament heaven and in verse 20 of the same chapter tells us the birds fly in the firmament so my question is what am I'm missing? Or better yet where do you guys get the idea?

Flat Earth Debate / Visions and afterlife experiences
« on: August 11, 2016, 05:03:59 PM »
I'm into Biblical prophecy and I listen to a program called The Prophecy Club and every so often he would play a DVD on the radio about visions and afterlife experiences. Now before getting to my point, this thread isn't for you athiests and skeptics, this is to flat earth Christians. Now to my point. The one thing I've noticed is that whenever they see earth it's always round. I've yet to hear a afterlife experience that someone describes the earth as flat. So if you believe in visions and afterlife experiences even those are against your theory.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / A question on gravity
« on: July 28, 2016, 11:55:20 AM »
This question is assuming the earth is round and gravity exists so don't come in here saying that the earth is flat and gravity is fake. I've been told that there's really no such thing as zero gravity in space. We're all just free falling. I was wondering if that was the case then does that mean the entire universe is falling through something? Or did I misheard and that only applies to orbits?

Suggestions & Concerns / Some suggestions to the site
« on: July 21, 2016, 01:19:56 PM »
I was thinking that maybe you can add a "next page" and/or "last page" button. I find it helpful on other forums that have one or both when a thread becomes long. Also I was thinking that maybe you can disable the "return to sub forum" thing every time people make posts. There many cases where I had to reply to multiple posts and rather than making one long post I respond to one and go to the next one which under current conditions can be a bit cumbersome especially on long threads and I haven't post in awhile.

The Lounge / Your favorite Christian songs
« on: July 17, 2016, 01:21:55 PM »
I thought it be nice for everyone to post their favorite song. Surely PL can't ruin this thread, though you never know. Anyway I'll start off with one that's a little hard core.

Here's a more softer one.

Flat Earth Debate / Satellite dishes in Norfolk
« on: July 08, 2016, 08:36:58 PM »
Been vacationing in Norfolk and I saw something interesting. Across the hotel I've been staying in there's a tv or radio station that is about four stories tall. The hotel I was staying in was nine stories but I was on the fourth floor. Anyway I noticed the satellite dishes on the roof of the station (WGNT) were pointed at a 45 degree angle and were pointed south. According to the flat earth theory satellites don't exist and the dishes are getting there signals from towers. Please explain to me were are these dishes are getting there signal when there are no mountains near by.

Flat Earth Debate / The Bible and flat earth.
« on: June 22, 2016, 09:33:15 AM »
Alright, it's been touched on here and there but no one recently made a thread discussing it. I challenge anyone to prove that the Bible speaks of a flat earth without any doubt and within context. Only use the KJV for reference that way we are on the same page.

Flat Earth Q&A / Where did the Aether came from?
« on: June 09, 2016, 08:41:58 PM »
Long time since I started a thread, particularly one related to flat earth. If Aether exist and is pushing our earth upwards then where did the Aether came from? What's blowing it upwards? Why doesn't it run out of steam? If it does run out when would that be and how can we measure that rate? Now I know this is a dangerous topic since I might invoke the spirit of Jroweskepic but I think I can handle it.

Note to mods: if this turns into a debate please move it into the debate section. Thank you.

28
For simplicity evolutionist also include theistic evolution. As for the thread I would like evidence for macro evolution if you're not too busy arguing about the flat earth. This is probably where friends turn into enemies but I hope it'll just be a debate and not personal.
