I've noticed that many peopl hear don't believe Antartica exists. That got me thinking what about penguins? They don't live at the north pole.
-
Antarctica as a continent, doesn't exist. It is actually a ring around the FE.
-
Then why hasn't anyone in modern times crossed it, then flown/come back over to tell of their discovery?
-
Would you believe them?
-
If they had undeniable proof. Seriously, why arn't hundreds of researchers and researcher's pilots coming back with this proof? At 30,000 feet and clear skies, the pilots who get the researchers where they need to go can see hundreds of miles - wouldn't the Ice Wall end before then? If it was hundreds of miles thick, it would take in too much thermal energy from the rest of our earth.
-
Too much thermal energy?
-
We'd all freeze. Either:
1) The Ice Wall would have, over time, taken in enough of the thermal energy to slowly cool the Earth. Is the sun(s) are as small and close as you all say, they can not, through light, provide enough energy to slow this process - either that, or this Ice Wall will constantly shrink and melt due to the addition of thermal energy.
2) The Ice Wall is small enough for it's end to be seen by pilots in the air.
No pilots have ever made any of these reports.
Enough of these pilots would be scientists themselves who would undoubtedly wish to share their findings.
The government cannot constantly silence these scientists with anything but death - the deaths so many scientists would cause a stir in the scientific community.
-
I'm sure you have some math to support this position?
-
Simple physics and heat diffusion is all I need as proof.
-
Woah. People I was asking about PENGUINS.
-
Damn spammers, taking everything off-topic...
-
They are extinct. Those t.v footages are just men in suits.
-
Would you believe them?
That's beside the point. There has not been one claim of an ice ring by anyone who has actually been there.
-
They are extinct. Those t.v footages are just men in suits.
They must do a damn good job. Especially the ones at the zoo, those ones don't even have special effects to help them out. (please note the sarcasm)

Furry midgets in tuxedos? Is that politically incorrect?

My gut says yes. Then again life wouldn't be too fun if everyone were politcally correct.
-
That it wouldn't.

Smaller than human babies? I have personally seen and Penguins held at the St. Louis Zoo. (no, you arn't supposed to touch... whoops! The security wasn't so good in the Penguin exhibit when they first started, and a lot of people got away with cuddling the Penguins. Some kid even stole one for a few hours! (or minutes, not sure)) Yeah, they are real. Very real. No waterproof technology can perform like that. (Kinda squishy too! (as much as any living thing is) They didn't like getting picked up much, though... :( ))
-
Ok. Baby furry midgets in tuxedos?
-
No human baby that small can survive that long. Human midgets don't come out small.
Those penguins are real.
But you know what I love? No one has bothered to counter You can't guard the Ice Wall arguement! Meaning the government can't keep a conspiracy intact with all the researchers out there!
-
Alright so we've settled that penguins are real then, good, clears that one up for me.
What argument was that?
-
I'm sure you have some math to support this position?
Hahahaha oh sweet cake of irony I get to indulge in your delicious tastes yet again.
-
Penguins guard the ice wall you heathen!
-
Well my question is where to penguins in the wild live? They're supposed to be on antartica. But then according to many people on the site that continent doesn't exist.
-
(They also live in South Africa and Argentina, and other locations in Antartica.)
I also find it interesting that Argentina actually includes a slice of Antartica as part of the province of Tierra Del Fuego. A part of a continent that "doesn't exist" and people live on it. Why would a government that would need to be part of a "conspiracy" let people live there?
-
depends on where the species of human in fluffy suits live.
-
I'm a little disapointed, I wanted to hear an FE believer explain where penguins live.
-
They live in Antarctica, where the ice wall is.
-
but their food only lives on the continent. Fish are afraid of the ice wall.
-
They live in Antarctica, where the ice wall is.
Thought you said Anartica doesn't exist? And about the ice wall, how did they shoot the movie March of the Penguins. You would think they'd see the edge or something.
-
Apparently there's Antartica the ice wall, and antartica the continant, floating like a massive island.
-

Oh, I thought the ice wall was referred to as the ice wall, not Antartica... Anywho, no island "floats", Antartica does not float, the large ice sheets that cover it do, at least the ones that extend over the ocean.

No no, you see, that charming bit of documentary was filmed at the edge of the semi-continent-wall thingie called Antarctic. It was too far out for people filming it to actually SEE the wall. Ah yes, the "theory" remains intact.

you knew what I meant. :P Maybe I should start my own site "the floating island society"....islands float, and the governement, trying to protect their blow-up countries, are trying to keep terrorists from finding out and popping the island..
-
Why does the gov't care to not let us know that there is a ice wall and the world is flat. I don't think my life would be any different if i knew. I truly don't care either way, so why are they trying to "cover it up"?

hahaha. I bet you'd get at least 20 people to believe you. Make up some facts, etc and you have a conspiracy site.

oh the makers of the site don't know the answer to that. They just "know" the earth is flat.

Antarctica is not an ice wall,
the barrier of the unlit earth lays very far beyond,
please refer to Lord Willmires map.

Prove it.

Heh. Yep, and none of them have seen an ice wall because it's a made up thing, complete fantasy. Harry Potter is more believable than Flat Earth.
-
no one has ever seen it because it more than likely does not exist and if it does it is not located anywhere near Antarctica.
-
4 years and we are argueing the same things... there is no point in debate here, it doesnt get anywhere

FE should shut the forums down, this isn't about debate, it's about FE not accepting any facts as facts.

Then why hasn't anyone in modern times crossed it, then flown/come back over to tell of their discovery?
You mean, like this?

I think the first person ever to fly over Antarctica was a Brittish colonel who did it in a hot air balloon.

So true. They don't tell us muggles anything, and they have magic. Easy peasy.

Or, maybe, they didn't have as descriptive records back then. And I don't want an explanation. The first person received government honors for going over Antarctica. See http://www.south-pole.com/p0000107.htm (http://www.south-pole.com/p0000107.htm). Was there a conspiracy even then? Has this been going on since the dawn of time? Jeez, even my conspiracy theories aren't that implausible, and I think that the entire world has been ruled from behind the scenes by a secret society since 1948 or so.

They lied for the glory.
-
And what about the scientific bases all over Antarctica?
-
Has this been going on since the dawn of time?
I find this very unlikely.
Then again, some FEers believe that the actual duration of our world history is not more than 500 years old, that Jesus was born 1680 AD and crucified in Troy before it was sacked, that the destruction of Pompeii by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius actually happened in the 18th century and that the Great Wall of China was built in the second half of the 20th century... :o
I'm not making this up: http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=30499.msg854193#msg854193 (http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=30499.msg854193#msg854193)

They lied for the glory.
Why? If there no glory in reaching the end of the world and proving conventional science to be flawed? Why does it make sense to base our belief structure on a 19th century crackpot with a bunch of debunk ideas, and then call all the scientists and explorers who agree that the south pole actually exists as we understand it liars?
-

The man was a genius! Not only he invented a wonder-cure for all illnesses, but also the life-preserving cylindrical railroad carriage! ;)
-
And what about the scientific bases all over Antarctica?
Try getting them to show you where they are on a flat earth map, you won't have much success.
-
OK, there have been OBSERVED and RECORDED Antarctic journeys across the South Pole. People have died trying to reach it and I honestly find it offensive for them that you guys are calling it all a "conspiracy". Let's actually list off the problems Antarctica shows for FEers.
- Countless journeys and bases constructed at the Geographic South Pole. I'm pretty sure tourists (or at least college researchers) are allowed to travel there. In addition, the Magnetic South Pole (the place where all compasses go haywire, which should not exist under the FE map) does exist and has been discovered.
- Others have actually crossed the Antarctican continent and approximated its distances, which do not match up with the FE map.
- Sailors have navigated around the Antarctican Continent. Under the FE model, they would have to go a hell of a longer distance, and in a different direction.
- Somewhat unrelated to Antarctica but relevant to the above, loxodromes would measure differently under the FE model, and RE loxodromes have worked perfectly for the last 500 years (seriously, you guys would get a spark of credibility if you found a single sailor who expressed trouble navigating the world with RE loxodromes).
-
Did the conspiration prevent you from writing number 4?
-
Whoops. I'm a bit new here, so yeah I'm prone to mess up sometimes.
-
And what about the scientific bases all over Antarctica?

That's because a small place on the southern pole of a flat earth map would stretch around the outer perimeter of the world. It would have to.
-
Antarctica as a continent, doesn't exist. It is actually a ring around the FE.
You can circumnavigate the Antarctic continent in a clockwise direction whilst always keeping land to your right. Please explain how this is possible.

The same way that you can trace the circumference of any circle.

If Antarctica is a continent, like is believed in RET, then the only way to travel around it in a clockwise fashion is to keep land on your right. If Antarctica is outermost part of a rim, like in FET, then the only way to travel around it in a clockwise fashion is to keep land on your left.

Thank you, that's what I was trying to say.
So how is it possible we are able to travel around the antarctic continent with the land kept to your right, when on a flat Earth, this would be impossible.
-

Obviously it is because of all of the fairy magic bending the light in a direction that is uniquely useful for explaining a flat earth.
-
Why is this thread not getting more attention? I really want to know how a FE'er explains this.
-
Because FE'ers don't want to answer embarrassing questions.
-
the answer is simple,
As MAster Willmore has thoerized, Antartica is a separate continent.
People live year round there, on the Antarctica pennisula, I think they would know of a giant ice wall.
Whats makes more sense is the barrier (really just a metaphor) is much farther beyond.
It is the point in which our spherical sun no longer shines. What lays beyond is unknown,
and it could be endless... Much exploration is to be had to confirm, but i know very soon it will.

Antartica isn't a peninsula. Other than that, I really can't discern a logical statement from what you posted.

conclusive proof that its a continent thats all

Conclusive proof that it isn't? The burden of proof is on you, since academia has accepted RET and not FET. This is something that every conspiracy theory seems to have in common, the "prove me wrong" tactic.

you just acting dumb or what? did i say it isnt? what have i got to prove? im only agreeing with the statement that it must be a continent and not the ice wall if you can travel clockwise and keep land to your right.
im confused as to why your react to my statement like that

Wait what? You mean you were agreeing? Is that possible? Not even sure if the forum guidelines allow such a thing as agreeing.

yes i agree on what most people know and that the globe i had on my desk as a child was correct

The map that Master Lord Willmore espouses was proved false, IIRC. Also it's supported by Tom, which is always a death sentence for anything you want taken seriously.
