Atmosphere

So atmosphere is centered around gravity right? Or in the FE situation, the Ice Wall contains it. So then logically there is no atmosphere on the underside of the Earth right? So then what stops the Earth from caving in at the bottom (In other words, why doesn't whatever is on  the other side just break off)?
