So, I'm going to argue flat earthers get more dates than globe earthers by announcing they are flat earthers on dating websites for a whole host of reasons:

1) Contrarian can be exciting
2) A non conformist is exciting
3) Believed to be an easy win in that argument
4) Sympathy
5) Arguments are fun
6) People into conspiracies are sexy and fun

Arts & Entertainment / Favourite Superhero & Why
« on: November 22, 2024, 06:19:15 PM »
Who's your favourite Superhero and why?

Superheroes are big business and bigger than ever before. No longer confined to the colorful pages of comic books, they now dominate our TV screens and movie screens.

For me, it's The Incredible Hulk. But, I don't mind Ghost Rider, Superman, Spider-man, Captain America, and Fantastic Four.

I have my reasons, as we all do, which I will give in future posts.

Who was or is, yours?

Flat Earth General / Official Flat Earth Recruitment Video

It's great to see the flat earth society knows how powerful a recruitment drive video can be to boost "flattening" numbers!

I guess John Davis is a big fan of the Honest Trailers approach?  ;)

Anyone watched this tv series?

And no, I'm not talking about the lame 1978 tv series, I'm talking about the 2003 tv mini series and tv series, that lasted til 2008, or 2010.

Arts & Entertainment / John Carter of Mars
« on: November 02, 2020, 02:34:07 PM »
Edgar Rice Burroughs created this character in 1917 in his published book, A Princess Of Mars. This was the first of 11 novels featuring the character, and is science fiction in its early years.

Disney really goofed it up when they made the movie, "John Carter", and didn't even bother mentioning Mars in the title.

I'm really surprised this hasn't succeeded as an absolute blockbuster. From the artwork by Frank Frazetta to the dozens of comic book portrayals, it really lends itself to being an easy winner.

One thing that does intrigue me, is the manner in which the central character gets to Mars in the original book. He goes into a cave while fleeing Apache Indians, goes unconscious, and finds himself separated from his physical body - astral projecting. He then looks up at Mars and then finds himself on Mars. He has a number of adventures there, and then dies on Mars, and finds himself back in his body in the cave.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Sovereign citizens and the magna carta
« on: August 02, 2020, 05:47:51 PM »
Let's talk about an elephant in the room. Let's talk about "sovereign citizens".  Or you may know them as, "freemen on the land".

Before we get into it, chances are this will truly be a "strawman" argument, and yes, the term, "sovereign citizen" is an oxymoron.

1. Does anybody think the term, "domestic terrorist" is appropriate when applied to this group?

2. Does anybody think there is any truth in sovereign citizen ideologies?

Flat Earth General / Day to day Earth mindset
« on: May 17, 2020, 09:24:44 PM »
This is another poll for everyone to enjoy.  :D All I ask is you dig deep, think about the question, and be sincere in your choice of vote.

In your stationary, or travels from point A to point B, what is the more natural or practical frame of mind you find yourself in, in navigating this glorious world?

A 2d one involving North, South, East and West with the sky above, or a 3d one incorporating imperceptible earth curvature all around, and a sky above which clings to that curvature?

Suggestions & Concerns / Site name
« on: June 12, 2019, 04:59:34 PM »
This site and it's openness to debate, detractors like myself, and a heavier emphasis on fun, interesting and engaging dialog, and tolerance of members with poor English, would be better reflected by a slight change of name. It would also distinctly separate it from the less appealing, cold,  overly stuffy, and pompous "other" flat earth society site.

I propose:

"The Well-Rounded Flat Earth Society"

What do you reckon, John?

Flat Earth General / Darren Nesbit's flat earth
« on: May 05, 2019, 10:08:30 PM »
Hi y'all, I recently stumbled upon Darren Nesbit's flat earth earth model, and was curious as to what members thoughts were on it? It's a hybrid, yet, totally individual conception, but really great if you ever thought pacman reminded you of our sun....

I thought it odd I hadn't seen any mention of it here in the forum, especially considering Mr. Nesbit is such a powerhouse influence in the flat earth community?

Flat Earth General / First Man
« on: August 28, 2018, 07:15:31 PM »
There's a new movie about to hit theaters called "First Man". (If someone wants to move this to Arts and Entertainment section, fine, but there's a reason I put it here -Educational)

Flat Earth philanthropist, Mark Sargent, has been very vocal in saying how Hollywood has never made a movie about the first manned moon landing, as one of his proofs, an event so significant to humankind, had to have been faked.

Now Hollywood has.

"First Man" refers to the first man to set foot on the moon, Neil Armstrong.

The movie looks like it will detail every problem NASA tackled in its quest to get man on the moon.

Flat Earth General / Re: Jane's FE Compendium
« on: August 17, 2018, 04:25:49 PM »
Hi Jane,

Thanks fo bringing me up to "speed" with this theory. You can tell I'm new here. I do operate on the kiss principle, but you have overcomplicated a fundamentally illogical idea.

"Universal accelaration" is flawed by it's very definition to begin with. Accelaration means to increase speed, whereas deceleration to decrease speed, otherwise you're talking about a constant speed which is neither accelaration or deceleration. Are you talking about a universal speed force?

From everything you've typed, you seem to be talking about a constant speed.

Secondly, the universe is supposed to encompass literally everything, meaning there is nothing outside of - the universe.

This means everything inside this universe with this "accelaration" force or "speed" force applied, must be moving away from one side of the universe towards the other side, or is moving around in a curvature circular motion, "not up" like in a washing machine on spin cycle. If you're implying everything is moving "upwards" in one direction on an almost infinite multi lane, parallel highway, from point A to point B, due to this constant accelaration, I'm pretty sure we all would have reached the speed of light by now, or everything will crash into the "universal wall." If we are in a washing machine universe spinning around in one direction, we should see stars and planets moving in other directions.

This "universal accelaration" is a flat earth pseudoscience invention through and through.

Mass doesn't even enter into this crack-pot or crack-pipe theory. If it did, the "universal accelarator" would move everything along at different speeds and everything would eventually crash into one another and be flying off in different directions. We wouldn't exist, because our planet would have been quickly destroyed.

It's a bucket of horse manure.

Flat Earth General / Antarctica
« on: August 16, 2018, 05:32:36 PM »
An old friend and past work colleague of mine, now works for the Australian Antarctic Division as a communications officer, in Antarctica.

Australia's involvement is part of the Antarctica treaty. The Antarctic territory itself is divided into land claims by Argentina, Chile, Britain, Norway, France, and New Zealand, with an unclaimed portion still up for grabs. (Perhaps the flat Earth society should stake a claim? ;)

The land mass of Antarctica is mapped with people from these different countries each involved in different explorations and scientific experiments in their respective country's land claims throughout the year. I'm pretty sure there are even times when they actually converge and meet up for different reasons inside Antarctica.

Yet, every flat earth map I have seen, suggests Antarctica doesn't even exist as a land mass surrounded by water on all sides. The flat earth maps depict Antarctica instead as a continuous ring of ice on the outer edge of a circular dinner plate with all countries in the middle?????

I'm planning on visiting my friend in Antarctica, people. A place, many of you say can't, and doesn't exist.

How do you flat Earthers here, explain this?
