The Lounge / My goodbye to rabinoz
« on: August 07, 2020, 12:17:04 AM »
It sad to see him go. To me he was a friend. Even though I never really chatted with him. He was one of the people who motivated me to stay on this forum. Now since he is gone, I don't know if there is any point of staying here. There will be no more wise vs rabinoz. The "WWE" show is over.  You never know what you have until you lose it, and that's how I feel about it. We will never read what rabinoz has to say. Thanks for everything rabinoz.

According to Eternal return theory, we will see each other again. Have a safe trip. I will see you again on August 29, 2016 - the date I registered on this forum.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Eternal Return
« on: February 03, 2020, 05:03:16 AM »
Anyone believes in Eternal Return?

Eternal return (also known as eternal recurrence) is a theory that the universe and all existence and energy has been recurring, and will continue to recur, in a self-similar form an infinite number of times across infinite time or space. Basically, universe is like a cassette tape that plays, stops and plays again. Whatever you do, you already done it before and you will do it again infinite number of times.

The Lounge / The Jim Twins
« on: November 06, 2019, 09:20:31 PM »
What do you think about this one?

Two men who were identical twins and separated at birth first discovered each other's existence in their late 30s. Despite having no knowledge of each other, there were a striking number of similarities between the two. Both of these men were named Jim; one was Jim Lewis and the other was Jim Springer. Both of them had a first wife named Linda from whom they got divorced, and both remarried women named Betty. They both decided to make this second marriage work by leaving their wives love notes around the house. Additionally, each Jim had a son named James Alan and a dog named Toy. The similarities didn't stop there. They both enjoyed woodworking, stock-car racing, driving their Chevys, and drinking Miller Lite beer. They both had vasectomies and had gotten overweight but shed some of the pounds. They even shared the same health problems and bad habits, such as chain smoking, high blood pressure, and occasional half-day migraines.

Suggestions & Concerns / Dear Judge,
« on: August 19, 2019, 09:25:33 PM »
Dear Judicial branch, my topic was thrown into the trash bin recently. The topic that I made was about the special maps that ships have to carry, if the earth was flat. According to global earth deniers, the earth is flat, and if the earth is flat, therefore all the ships have to carry a special map that can navigate them through the flat earth. Recently, an Iranian ship was detained and the question was raised what was on the board. I came up with a theory that the ship had special maps that can navigate through the flat earth. The mods here, did not like the theory, and they moved it to the polluted section of the forum.

Here is the link to the topic. https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=82810.0

Please revise the topic and move my topic back to the original section of the forum.

Also, I did not receive any official warnings as to why my topic was moved.

A lot of people who reject global earth talk about measures and measures only. None of them bring up any topics about the political theater. None of them talk about the administration. Don't global earth deniers understand that if the earth was not a globe, then everything we know is completely inaccurate, including the political theatre? Let's talk about the political theatre. Does Trump really hates Iran? If the earth is not a globe, then whatever is happening with Iran is nothing but a distraction, correct?

The Lounge / Happy Ramadan!
« on: May 06, 2019, 04:08:29 AM »
Happy Ramadan everybody!

Quote from:  https://www.islamicfinder.org/news/spiritual-benefits-of-fasting/
Why is it that Ramadan seems to have such a profound impact on our spirituality, particularly given the physical hardships that it entails? The most distinct feature of Ramadan is that it requires able Muslims to fast the entire month. The fact that this distinct feature correlates with the auspiciousness of the month is perhaps testament to how important and beneficial fasting is. Indeed, the activity entails immense spiritual benefits that lay the foundations for the spiritual uplift we witness during the month. Since we are often unaware of these benefits, this article aims to briefly introduce how, ironically, fasting is food for the soul.

1. It weakens your nafs

The nafs is the component of an individual that compels them towards their animalistic desires. Each individual is responsible for controlling and overcoming these desires. Imam Ghazali writes that physical easements are the source of strength for the nafs, including food and drink. The logical conclusion, therefore, is that depriving the physical body from food and drink would weaken the nafs, and hence its ability to invite the individual towards evil and sin.

Since good deeds enhance one’s spirituality and bring them closer to Allah (SWT), it is quite understandable that fasting entails a great degree of spiritual benefit, particularly with regards to weakening your ability to sin.

2. It strengthens your soul

Keeping up with the first point, weakening the nafs would naturally mean strengthening the soul, since it is the vehicle through which an individual is inclined towards good deeds and hence towards developing a stronger relationship with Allah (SWT). This is why you feel that heightened sense of closeness to Allah (SWT) during Ramadan; your soul no longer has to battle your nafs in the desire to do good, and it is empowered by the fast, hence the increased willingness to do good.

3. It brings you closer to your thoughts and emotions

You have probably felt an overarching sense of calm and serenity during Ramadan. Quite often, even though the raging hunger of a long fast bothers us, we are calmed down by an overbearing sense of peace. These emotions are the direct impact of a closer connection to Allah (SWT). This calmness also allows us to be better attuned to our own thoughts and emotions, since we slowly drift away from the hurry and fuzz of worldly desires.

4. It relieves you of worldly desires

It is quite often the case that individuals refrain from all things that invite them towards sin during their fast. The natural response is that if one is making an effort to please Allah (SWT), one best not infect that effort by engaging in activities that breed evil and sin. We try to refrain from anger and from expressing our base instincts during Ramadan for this very reason, the natural result of which is a sort of deviation from the traditional chase of our worldly desires and aspirations. Fasting allows us to be more cognizant of ourselves and our actions, which in turn makes us more aware of the unnecessary pursuit of material and inconsequential gains.

In conclusion, while there are immense, visible physical benefits of fasting, the spiritual side of the activity often goes unnoticed. Imam Ghazali and others have spent a great deal of time and effort in outlining these benefits for the Ummah, which just goes on to show how the soul is often neglected in our conception of the world. Let this Ramadan be a portal for a great cognizance of the soul and its role in developing our connection with the Almighty.

Flat Earth General / McCarthyism vs Global Earth Denialism
« on: March 12, 2019, 07:46:20 PM »
What is McCarthyism? Basically, McCarthyism was the practice of attempting to minimize the threat of communism by accusing and detaining suspects deemed to be a security threat or disloyal to the United States. Investigations ranged from the federal government, to Hollywood, to the general American public.

Beginning in 1950, they targeted individuals within the United States who were suspected communists. Their witch hunt began at the federal level. They accused individuals, such as General George Marshall, who served both as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under Truman, and Secretary of State Dean Acheson of supporting communism. They targeted the United States Army and, eventually, President Truman himself when they made the decision to remove General Douglas MacArthur from power during the Korean War.

McCarthyism's search eventually trickled down to the ground level as they began attacking artists, musicians, writers and movie stars. Names you might recognize include individuals such as Charlie Chaplin, Langston Hughes, Pete Seeger, J. Robert Oppenheimer and Albert Einstein. They contended that all of these individuals worked within communist organizations and/or belonged to the Communist Party of America. Additionally, their wanton accusations often led to those who were not famous and worked in the private sector being ostracized from their respective profession.

Don't those two theories look very much alike to you?

McCarthy was a Republican senator from Wisconsin and was the leader behind the ethos of McCarthyism. The term was created in 1950 by Washington Post writer Herbert Block.

Suggestions & Concerns / Why was I banned?
« on: July 11, 2018, 06:30:24 PM »
I herd few people from Youtube and this forum who believe in flat earth say that the world is controlled by lizards. My idea states that if the earth is flat, the lizards are from the other side of flat earth. The mods here banned me for 3 days for stating that and accused me for "making shit up"

Is the ban fair?

The Lounge / Taijin kyofusho
« on: July 09, 2018, 06:13:35 AM »
Check this one out. In Japan there is a disorder that involves worrying excessively about embarrassing others. The disorder, taijin kyofusho, occurs when someone worries that his or her appearance or body odor offends or embarrasses others. In Western cultures, where people are taught to be independent, the idea of embarrassing others does not produce large amounts of anxiety; however, in Japan, where people are very conscious of others' feelings, this can truly be emotionally painful.
