In Turkish, love is divided into two words as aşk as love and sevgi as love. Like already exists, the Turkish equivalent of the word is "hoşlanmak"  already exists. However, the word love is two different words in Turkish: aşk and sevgi.

I will explain the difference between the two words. The two words I will use here are the same word from your point of view: Love.

Aşk, By definition, Aşk is an interpersonal relationship or deep affection for another being. When defining aşk, it is said that "aşk is blind". A person in love does not see anything else and is ready to sacrifice everything to meet his love. Logic is not sought in love. Usually a chemical process supports this feeling.

Sevgi is a more inclusive word and is used when loving a person or something else. When you love someone, you back it up with reasoning, not chemistry. You like this person because you have similar hobbies, she looks beautiful to you, you enjoy being with her, etc.

The concepts of Aşk and Sevgi are often confused and used interchangeably. These are already the same word in English, and in Turkish, ignorant people use these two words interchangeably.

In English, I love you.

In Turkish:

Seni seviyorum. / Sana aşığım. (aşıkım)

It is possible to both aşk and hate a person.Because aşk is blind, logic is not sought.

You can't sevgi someone and hate at the same time, because you can't love someone with thinking who you hate. You think you are doing this, but the feeling you have is not love (sevgi), it is love (aşk).

Are you going to love us before you even know what love is?
