Here is a shot from ground level.  Clearly the lens is distorting the horizon.

first of all that is obviously not the same camera.
second: don't believe what any lens shows you - do it yourself... do the high jump and know for yourself.

erm you said would this convince you and you posted a picture. of course people are going to think you are referring to the picture.
and no you wont convince anybody and neither will a high altitude jump. mainly because only a few people have done this. in fact many more people have been into space because its safer.

ill save you 100s of posts now and ill give you some advice; dont bother trying to convince anyone here that the earth is a globe. its a pointless task.

No no no,
few people have done the 35-40km high jump, but there are many more who did 25-35km high jump. And you can do that fairly cheap. What you see below is not a FE.
I've got a few more photos, but I am wondering why none of the FEs tried this. It is something they would all look for: a cheap way (as they all claim to be poor and not having $$ to fund serious scientific experiments) to prove their point.

NASA is not the big bad wolf the FAQ makes it out to be.
They are just getting it wrong.
If you from birth raised to believe in a spherical earth...
it takes years to overcome this.

open your mind, and the Zetetic method will show you what real Truth is.
No, scientists work in NASA, and they are more scientists than believers in any case.
Had they discovered they were wrong (or any other, say, IRANIAN scientists) they all would not keep it secret just to please USA's conspiracy schemes...

Man I did expect shallow answers however, not this shallow - when I said "would THIS convince you" I didn't mean this specific photo... Jesus!
I meant would a high jump from an altitude similar to this convince you, AS, there would be no distorted lens there, it would be you on your own witnessing the Earth beneath you. Even with, say, how messed up your vision was, you would not be able to spot all the continents, apart from, obviously deducting the Earth was in fact round and a globe...

So, considering all the crazy replies I read on this site I think the cheapest way for an FE-er would be to do the high jump.
IMO it doesn't have to be as this one from the outer rim... Something a little bit less than 40kms would do as well.

(Apart from this you fail on the distance between argentina and australia, but lets not bring that up again since you are not unanimous about FE map...)

Nasa does not get it wrong, the existance of either Pseudollites or satellites proves that Nasa knows what it is doing.
If there are pseudollites then it's Nasa's conspiracy, if there are satellites then it's RE.
Simple as that, in any case - Nasa knows if the Earth is flat or round.

I'm going to come out and say that I'm not an FET proponent. I'm a physicist and it flies in the face of, well, basically everything I know. I'm not here to make fun, I'm not here to incite anger, I'm here to ask what specific evidence would you, personally, accept that would shun your beliefs in FET? If someone proved to you that the moon were actually ~240000 miles away instead of 3000, would that do it? If someone were to take you into orbit and you personally saw that you could only see ~1/2 of the planet's landmass in one go, would that do it? If neither of those, what would?

Thanks for your time.

I think that a trip into space would do it for me.
how far to space?
would a mig travel be enough?
for 10-15k, you can have your answer...

Flat Earth General / Re: Endless flat earth beyond north and south poles
« on: August 12, 2012, 07:21:25 PM »
well this is easy, come where snow starts, (during summer) rent a snowtrack or whatever, keep the wheel\handles straight to north, and soon after you will reach pole (you don't need a compas), keep going and you'll end up on the other side...
Not really an expensive experiment as well... All you need is some warm clothes, some food, snowmobile and some gas...
and remember, do it in summer...

Flat Earth General / Why NASA and why space exploration
« on: August 12, 2012, 07:12:39 PM »
So, why do you accuse NASA and space exploration to be the secret project so USA's and other big space programs could drain money for secret purposes?
I mean if I was to create a project to drain funds I'd figure out one that is less likely to be busted.
For example: none of us knows how much does finding new cures for diseases cost? Take HIV for example, seems to me that since the 80s doctors from around the world have been working their butts of to find a cure, and nothing happened yet.
Why not include HIV, Cancer, Ebola, various types of plague in a top secret project that would just drain funds and only figure out cure or medical relief the moment public started to doubt them?
I mean, we now know approximately how much effort had been made to control or cure some of diseases, but back then noone could tell. People expected cure for HIV to be found by mid 90s...
And all that remains fuzzy, and hell of a lot easier to control and conspire about than a gigantic scam such as space travel and round earth...

So, apart from my ideas here, why do you FEs consider the space exploration and RE to be the "weapon of choice" for NASA and others? And why are they risking so much with such a huge thing to control?

Flat Earth General / Re: When did the conspiracy start?
« on: August 12, 2012, 06:59:03 PM »
The purpose of NASA is to fake the concept of space travel, which includes satellites.
WOW, what a statement.
If NASA launched/set up "pseudollites" then, sureley they must have known the Earth is flat. Or else they would just launch "normal" satellites as they expected Earth to be round so the normal satellites would circle around the Earth... This undoubtably leads to us to conclusion that NASA in fact knows the shape of the Earth.

So, how about NASA/USA's top enemies -  such as Iran or North Korea, what interest do they have in supporting Nasa's false theory about RE? Do have in mind that Iran is a very religious country and they would not mess with God's will had god made Earth flat, they'd admit that...
Both of these countries (Iran and N.Korea) have their space programs, maybe not as advanced as NASA, but they exist... on the other hand they are not investing in their space programs (that much money) like NASA is accused here.
If FE was true, every nation would laundry a lot of money through space programs...

Flat Earth General / Re: Independent Evidence of Apollo Missions

Quote from: Tom Bishop
These people are no more trustworthy than the hundreds of people who have signed up to this forum claiming to be astronauts with personal experience that we are wrong. Indeed, we have NASA administrators, astronauts, rocket scientists, dozens of professional astronomers, and multiple Neil Armstrongs!

Is this your form of a source? You quote yourself to try to prove a point that has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation? Any 13 year old can come on here and say they are/were an astronaut. Not every person has the knowledge to build and operate a directional antenna (as you yourself have clearly demonstrated). These people did independent (see: by your self) to try and listen to the apollo transmissions. I haven't read the cited material, but I feel they did it either to prove it to themselves because they had doubts, to show people that it actually happened, or even just for fun. Your arguments are invalid and childish. It's like someone saying they don't believe the holocaust happened because no one showed them the bodies, someone just told them they'd seen the bodies.
So what else is new on this forum?
Every time you face them (FEs) with facts they stop replying or just keep trolling...

Flat Earth General / Research
« on: December 15, 2011, 03:45:09 PM »
Has any of the FE'ers ever asked for money or investment in their research? Seems to me all you guys do is talk. And you are not hiding, so why not ask for funding. Maybe not governmental money, but for example rich non-governmental organizations? There has to be someone out there willing to undermine the GREAT conspiracy (let's call it that way for a while, shall we?)
If you were be given funds for a single project of proving FE, what would it be?

Flat Earth General / Re: Maps
« on: December 15, 2011, 03:41:20 PM »
Australia is at least as long as Russia, I see.
Even if it was, you still have roughly 13000 miles from Australia to Argentina. Lets not water down the thread, I'd like FlatEarthers to find me an explanation why their distance is 13000 miles. Could it be that a part of conspiracy is the fact that they secretly made passenger planes that fly at speeds of around 1000mph in order to make up for the distance gap? If so please provide proof of such findings.

Flat Earth General / Re: Maps

Only to be replaces by other inaccuracies.

Such as?  Less image quality?

Same mistake, different places.
Please show us the FE map that doesn't have this problem. Again, he's a great RE map: http://www.amazon.com/WARDs-Natural-Science-Est-Seasonal/dp/B000VKTO5G/ref=sr_1_27?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1323987645&sr=1-27.

Sure.

Alrighty then.
According to flight and boat times and measurments, the distance between australia and argentina is roughly 6000 miles by a RE map.
A rough estimation of this map and distances it would have to be at least 13000 miles between Australia and Argentina. Seeing that we all agree that both Argentina and Australia actually exist and that it is quite easy to confirm the 6000 mile distance, how do you explain such a huge difference (almost 7000 miles)? Remember it's easy to fake southern ice wall as a continent by doing 8's, as all you have to do is make the trip as long as it proves RE conspiracy, however, it's impossible to fake shorter distance, or to cheat FE by this map you provided. Not to mention you'd have to fly across most of the land (not above sea)... which is what you don't do in real situation in order to reach australia/argentina from one another.
And by this model, the shortest trip goes over the north pole. Please find me a single airline that does this 13000 mile trip where you get to see the north pole and waste twice as time needed?

Of course they didn't measure, they just threw a figure that felt appropriate. 30 40, 100, 3000 miles, who cares, it's subject to a change when needed, as is the shape and arrangement of the continents on a FE map. When you need faster travel times from Australia to Argentina then those continents are to be viewed by maps that correspond to given issue.
If on the other hand you don't need to travel as fast as RE-ers do between Argentina and Australia then a more disc-like model is ok. If you need to measure boat speed then you can't do it as those boat-speedometers are primitive devices and plus the Earth is wobbly and has some 50mph ocean currents that you ride in order to get to and from Australia (to Argentina) in order to match RE boat travel speeds.

is it too much to ask for you fe's to post a map? If you are going to be posting links to 25 page threads then you can as well post a map here. So please do it. I'm curious. And then lets go from there.

Flat Earth General / Re: Maps

so, I'm back and I still see no decision on a FE map.
How can we argue your theories if you always leave room to change stuff when you are cornered?
In any case, there are several maps that I have seen here, you have to believe in one of them, as, saying the Earth is flat doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't present us with a graphical representation of FE.

With the new "alternative" maps now in focus, could you FEs please post all the maps you have, and decide the model you want to go for.
We REs can't dispute your maps if you are going to be changing them every once in a while...

Since you believe in FE, it would be fairly simple to come up with a single model, right? I mean I don't see no "alternative REs models"... There is only one, round Earth :)
And since we live on ONE earth, there should be only one FE model...

I've said that the earth's shape is not being hidden. NASA is mistaken about portraying the world as a globe in its fake space missions. They believe that the earth is a globe. It's not.
Tom, hi,
how do you explain the difference between Argentina and New Zealand distance which is by RE 6000 miles (and proven as such) as opposed to FE that is roughly 15000 miles, at least according to your FE map model?

http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=49558.msg1216816#msg1216816
As I said in that thread, the "new" map doesn't answer my question.

54
Is any FEer going to reply regarding the distance of 40.000km? Seems that you guys have been avoiding this purposely as you don't have an answer to Theodolite's question.
Apart from that, I still don't see the distance between Arg-Nz (by sea) is even remotely close to what it actually is (6000 miles).

ALSO, the map you provided in this thread - please make up your minds, what MAP IS YOUR OFFICIAL MAP??
As you claim the Earth to be flat, lets see your real map?

Flat Earth General / Re: Nasa as a hoax

Apparently so.  From what I have read, all of the space agencies are satanic, they are all part of the conspiracy, and their only goal is to deceive people in order to steal funding from their governments.  I know, it does not make sense, but what here does?
Now go and do some research and find out how many space agencies are there, how many had there been like 30 years ago, and how many countries are in the world?
What good does Italy have for example? I think that many of you are unaware that there are only handful of space agencies that are launch/spaceflight capable.
Not to mention Argentinian space agency that is far from any space exploration and we know Argentina always wants to be against whatever US is pro.

« on: September 26, 2011, 03:05:59 PM »
I do not believe in speed. There is no such thing. Drunken physicists have been measuring an imaginary quantity. The only comprehensible measure of movement is acceleration.

Perhaps you should try this defense next time you get pulled over for driving over the speed limit.
WIN!
Congrats :)
