The Lounge / Check out the stuff Marilyn Manson collects...
« on: August 24, 2007, 11:22:03 PM »
There's an article about Marilyn Manson getting sued by an ex-bandmate, and it includes this excerpt...

From 2004 to 2006, the suit claims, Manson used band money to buy a $2 million home, collect Nazi paraphernalia and to give his fiancee at the time a handbag once owned by Eva Braun [Hitler's girlfriend].  Manson also bought "African masks made of human skin, the full skeleton of a 4-year-old Chinese girl, and the full skeleton of a 17th-century male in a wheelchair," the suit claims.

Later in the article it says,

"The fact that he's claiming that I've treated him unfairly, financially, is really ridiculous," the singer said. "And I would never spend my money on a Chinese girl skeleton. That would be crossing the line. It's a Chinese boy, for the record."

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering.  And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers.  You consider that to be evidence that prayer works.  And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

Flat Earth Q&A / What's wrong with the North Pole being the Ice Wall?

All of models I've seen show that Antartica is the Ice Wall. Why not the North Pole?

Flat Earth Q&A / History of Conspiracy
« on: August 06, 2007, 09:40:47 PM »
From what I've been able to infer, the idea that Earth is round was an urban legend until Nasa and possibly other space agencies discovered it wasn't by going up there sometime before the late 1950's. They decided that if they were going to continue to make money, they had to pretend it was round. And so the conspiracy began. Is this correct? Or is it so well covered up that no one knows?

Flat Earth Q&A / To the FE'ers
« on: July 24, 2007, 03:11:57 PM »
Okay, so because Chaltier doesn't seem to want to grant membership to the FE section, I thought this was the best place to make my thread. To the FE'ers, how did you become a FE'er? All of the educated world except for you guys believe in RE, why did you become an FE'er? I don't really want answers that are like "I know I was being lied to," I want stories.
