Very well done Rushy! That's the risk!

moooooooooooooooooooo

I see SCG still hasn't learned how to use words. Please stop moo'ing at posters, you're an admin, get a grip.

5
Guys, I think there's some kind of language barrier here, maybe OP doesn't understand that the game is over?

6
I'm not important enough to have been listed as a martyr :(

Hopefully your recent victory in That's The Risk! will give you just the boost you needed.

Well now that I'm clearly alive and non-martyred, maybe I'll be promoted to suspect. I used to play EVE Online, so I'm something of an expert in remote murder.

Everyone else understood what they were saying.

You mean you guessed what they meant based on context, which wouldn't be necessary had they displayed the intelligence not to say something like "Indonesia has no laws" in the first place.

It's a sliding scale though, with places like Colombia at one end, and places like Sweden at the other. There's a rough correlation between corruption and third worldness.

There's a very distinct difference between saying "Indonesia is more corrupt than many other countries on Earth" and "Indonesia has no laws". One is a very possible truth, the other is a hilarious claim that no sane individual would conclude to be correct. It was bad enough for Jroa to imply that Indonesia is in anarchy, but you coming by to say "yeah, Indonesia is basically an ancap paradise" really adds to the entertainment value of this thread.

Like Central/South American countries, Indonesia runs on bribes. You can do anything you like as long as you slip the right people a hefty brown envelope. Hence the government allowing mass destruction of areas that they have earmarked as wildlife reservations.

If that's your standard for not having law, then I suppose laws don't actually exist anywhere in the world.

They don't have law in Indonesia

I was not aware that Indonesia is in a perpetual state of anarchy. Has anyone told the Indonesian government? They probably need to be informed of this.

Are you really sure it takes the expertise of a third party enterprise infosec company to secure a forum homepage? Sure, they'll help you as long as you give them money, but I can't help wondering if this is a little excessive.

15
John, do you mind posting these metrics you reviewed, that way we can review them as well?

16
This thread was not intended to be about intikam, or you, or me.  It was intended to be about wondering why the tfes changes when you type it here.  We explained, then John changed it so it does not do that anymore.  You can make it out to be more than that, if you want.

Ah, if this were really the case, why then did you decide to respond to Parsifal's well done post on the subject with your own addled gibberish?

This thread has clearly been moved in to being about the FES reunification, and as such, any points of interest that reunification might contain. Maybe next time you can try reading the thread before making oddball posts like the one you just spit out.

17
Since this seems to be a point of contention, I'll weigh in, since I was one of the moderators that dropped the hammer on Intikam.

Intikam was breaking rules, a lot of them. Low content posting in upper forums (e.g. one-liner posts filled with insults), threatening to report people to the Turkish police, things like that. It was funny, at first, just a pointless troll. Over time, however, we've learned a very important fact about him: he's being serious. He will actually try to get your information, he will actually try to report it to different groups. Whether or not you get a nasty PM from him just depends on how much he succeeds in doing, not whether or not he tried. While the information he acquired about our posters was outdated or just plain wrong, it still points to the fact that he did indeed try to get it and use it as blackmail.

This might be no big deal to this forum, but it is a very big deal to us. Intikam will target any poster who he happens to interpret as having wronged him, which means basically any forum-goer is at risk at any given time. He's a nutty timebomb and has never once apologized or tried to correct his actions. Intikam is banned forever from our forum and will remain banned forever from any forum I ever have the good graces to moderate.

When 12 noobs jump him, yes, he does occasionally say things inappropriately.  So do I, and I suspect so would anyone.

No,  jroa, not anyone. That's not how normal people react to problems. That might be normal for you or normal for Intikam, but it's not normal for us. This is a forum and you have no reason to start threatening to report people to terrorists just because they said "you're a dumb flat earther".

I would like to voice support for Parsifal's most recent suggestion. I feel this would allow us to benefit from the strengths and weaknesses of both sites.

19
Oh, well darn. I thought the official rhetoric was that the site split because we couldn't maintain the software. Instead, its now because I refused to remove rules when those breaking the rules cried about them.

Yes, John, you being unable to properly maintain your site is also known as a "concern". You see, we were also constantly concerned about the site's only active administrator being unable to properly decipher the English language.

20
You are right. I should go ahead and write the regex to remove all instances. Thanks for the suggestion!

You doubling down on poor responses to concerns brought up by your users is exactly what caused the site split in the first place.

21
I don't see how that is relevant or matters. You are using our services. You find yourself unable to follow the simplest rules.

I was making a point by proving how, if such a link campaign existed, your censor wouldn't have stopped it. Now that I've proven your censor can't do what you supposedly designed it to do in the first place, maybe you can finally remove it so your posters such as the OP aren't bothered by it.

22
It doesn't matter what you would call it. You still find yourself unable to follow a simple rule while enjoying the use of our services.

Take a look at my post history and you'll find that my "use" of your services for the past four years is almost entirely limited to correcting confusion about the site breakup. Much of such confusion being spread by you yourself. My total posts since the site split don't even go beyond an entire page.

23
We did have an avatar campaign, but your censorship makes very little sense against links and words when had but a single thread on the subject and an avatar campaign. Some members did place the link in their signatures, but I would hardly call that spam.

24
It's because a group of members broke off to make their own site, and that site happens to just be named TFES and so the admin of this site wanted to make sure no one can actually link to it or even casually refer to it.

You forgot to mention the spam.  You remember, where people on that site would come here to post links to their site all over in hopes of drawing people away?

This literally never happened.

It's because a group of members broke off to make their own site, and that site happens to just be named TFES and so the admin of this site wanted to make sure no one can actually link to it or even casually refer to it.
Incorrect, as jroa points out, the name was spammed throughout our site which as they knew was against the rules of the time (and I imagine always). Once it has been cleaned up by those who did it, (along with the rest of the spam, profile images, etc) the filter will likely be removed.

Again, this literally never happened, and I know this because your censor is easy to bypass, and if any supposed "link spam" were happening, your extremely incompetent way of handling link censorship wouldn't have put a dent in it.

So now we have two total lies:

1. There was link spam.
2. Your popsicle-sticks-and-superglue string literal censor could actually do anything about it.

www.tfes.org

Oh geez, the censor definitely stopped a spam campaign in its tracks, as you certainly remember happening, and you definitely didn't invent a magical spam campaign in your own mind along with a menagerie of other True Facts™.

Technical Support / Re: Wiki?
« on: September 09, 2017, 06:01:43 PM »
John, you know as well as anyone else here that this entire forum is in the intensive care unit of the internet. It's not quite dead, but it's not quite alive enough to be an enjoyable user experience. It goes down for hours or even days multiple times per month, and simple features, like the wiki, have been anything between completely inaccessible and marginally functional. You could at least recognize that other users are significantly more competent than you when it comes to websites and learn from their experience rather than chastising them for eventually becoming fed up with your sub-par administration.

Last test?

How you manage to put pants on in the morning, much less keep this site on life support, is a great mystery for all of mankind. Bravo.

$100,000 seems like an awful lot, how much do these packages get me?

I'd easily pay $1000 if it came with a boat rental and fishing equipment.

29
Hey look, it's me seven years ago. Hello me.

The lie never stops, by the way.
