Recently, a few testimonies à la John Titor surfaced on YouTube where the subject usually says something like “so yeah, I travelled back in time to warn humanity because y’all been naughty and such blablabla”.
The videos are full of inconsistencies, laughable self-proclaimed “scientific facts” and non sequitur arguments. But time travel itself always tickled my pickle and I like watching movies and reading books about it.
Nevertheless, it is my belief that time travel as often depicted in popular movies and comics (think Back to the Future) is simply not possible. I’m not talking about the effects of gravity on space-time as explained by Einstein’s SR. No, I mean: getting into a some kind of craft or vehicle, pushing a few buttons and ... fwooosh ... back and forwards in time with a breeze. The amount of energy needed to accomplish a voyage through time is simply too high and practically unreachable, although theoretically possible according to some theories.
How do you think about time travel? What historical figure would you punch in the face if you could go back in time? What’d you do you of going forward?
