Maybe Jolani is too busy being concerned that Israel is carrying out a preemptive defensive annexation of Syria.

Based on past performance I'd say Trump is very likely to sell out the Kurds.  It wouldn't be the first time and now it's completely legal for a foreign government to bribe the president.  For some reason Turkey is really into bribing our politicians.

Trump vows to end birthright citizenship via Executive Order despite it being a constitutional Amendment.  He then vowed to deport illegals and their American citizen families.

So Trump not only doesn't know the constitution, but wants to remove citizenship from Americans.  Because he's just a walking meme.

The first half of the interview is worth watching.  Everything is "concepts of a plan".  I think he's trying to embrace that phrasing as a good thing somehow.  It's clear he hasn't thought of anything beyond the stage of making people at rallies cheer.  It's hard to imagine any of these concepts of a plan improving the situation for the US.  Competent administrators might be able to turn these concepts into something workable.  But competency isn't what Trump selected his cabinet for.

The second half is just grievance and lies.

As far as I can tell we'll probably see 4 years of Trump trying policies that harm the country and then pulling back on them and claiming victory.  Moderate incompetency and some light to medium looting of the country is the best we can expect.

It looks like there's still a lot of chaos.

Turkey is Kurdish Syria.  Israel is invading and bombing southern Syria.  The US is bombing ISIS held territory in Syria.  I can't tell but I think the kinder gentler rebels are trying to drive out the Kurds.  And Russia is getting the hell out of there while they can but not without blowing up some hospitals and schools.  You've gotta do what you know I guess.

Al Jolani, a terrorist according to the US government.

But he promises to less of a terrorist now.  We'll see.

Good lord they've quick.  Hama just fell.  They're on their way to Homs.  If they take that then they'll cut off the rest of Syria from Russia.

Turkey's assisting one of the factions.  There's no proof of this yet but Ukraine might be helping out in some way or another.  They'll sometimes fight Russia in places they don't expect it.

This is sort of what happens when Russia start to run low on everything, the people they've made enemies with are going to take advantage of their weakness.

I am unclear if this is going to be a net positive for the citizens of Syria.

This talk about laws and norms are all well and good.  But an egg mcmuffin costs 2 dollars extra so clearly the rule of law must be discarded.

The weird thing is I'm having a hard time figuring out why it's so boring.  Especially without explaining it in a boring way.

I'm really hoping we get a Kyle Maclachlan cameo this season.

Time zones are a pain.  No more time zones.

Also we should use metric time.  Metric time should get us at least half way to saving 2 trillion.

Everyone wants to end it but no one ever does. :(
Not entirely true

Quote
A May 2024 YouGov poll found 58% of Democrats and 63% of Republicans support making daylight saving time permanent. Of those who supported locking the clocks in a 2022 Monmouth University poll, 44% preferred permanent daylight saving time (the time we observe from March to November).
Seems pretty mixed, which might explain why it has never changed.

Also, what does it have to do with DOGE? (not that they can do anything about it, or anything else for that matter, as it take an act of Congress).  It's almost like they are keep going to suggest stuff they saw on social media.

Are you implying an organization lead by Elon, Vivek and Jewish space laser woman might not be entirely serious?

Hegseth might be out.  Ron DeSanctimonious might be in.

I don't know about this one.  The American people clearly voted for a cabinet with a lot of history of sexual assault.  To stop all the imaginary sexual predators attacking America we need to put actual sexual predators in charge.  I don't think Ron has what it takes.  As far as I know he hasn't even been accused of anything.

I wonder if they'll arrest the reporters on Fox News that called it for Biden or maybe Trump will be merciful and pardon them.

I heard an interesting thought about these pardons.  If this is about Trump's enemies list then why just Hunter?  Is a blanket pardon for Liz Cheney, Fauci etc incoming?

Seems like preemptively pardoning Trump's enemies list might have gone over better.  Not that I'd be okay with that either.

Or you could look at it this way - Thousands of people were arrested and charged and convicted and many of them are serving sentences for their crimes. (only 171 were charged with having a dangerous or deadly weapon)  There are many people who have already completed their sentences. If Trump pardons them, most of them will have already been punished to some degree. I'm not saying I want Trump to pardon them, or that they deserve a pardon, but I just don't think it will matter. Or it will only matter because the media will be breathlessly telling us this is the end of democracy.

On the other hand, Biden pardoned his son for any crime he may or may not have committed over the past 11 years, which seems very strange and makes me think Hunter did something worse that we don't even know about. lol

Also, the Democrats pretend that they follow the rules. That they are the party that respects the law and all that, so it is more of a let down when they do shady shit. Like, we want to believe in them! We know the Republicans are corrupt, because the leftish media tell us they are corrupt all the time. It is a bad feeling to realize they're all full of shit.

Pardoning them wouldn't help them out much individually.  It does send a powerful signal to the country and the world about the way the justice department will work under Trump.

The rationale behind the blanket pardon is the belief that Trump's justice department will be out for retribution.  He's not wrong on this point.  This is what the people he's appointed have said unambiguously.  I would have preferred he didn't pardon Hunter.  But the blanket pardon is hard to argue with given the situation.

This sort of bothsidesism is dangerous.  It's like comparing a Toyota to a Yugo and saying because the Toyota breaks down sometimes that it's just as unreliable as the Yugo which might explode.

All part of the plan.  Trump is above the law.  Now Hunter Biden is above the law.

Joe Biden has sent an unstoppable crackhead with a giant dick to stop Trump!

I sympathize to some degree.  Biden must have felt betrayed these last few months.  As far as abuses of the pardon powers go this is very minor.  It's kind of a nonsense crime unlike the j6 insurrections.  But he still committed a crime and he's a grown man responsible for his own choices.

Now Trump is free to go hog wild pardoning every election denier and using this to justify it.

Trump is absolutely tariff happy now.  He has his hammer and everything is starting to look like a nail.

Trump threatens 100% tariff on Brics nations

It will be very interesting to see how many tariffs actually get put in place, but he's mad for them right now.

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/mexican-president-says-did-not-discuss-tariffs-call-with-trump-2024-11-28/

A strategy seems to be emerging.

Make up an imaginary threat.
Promise an action which would probably do more harm to the US than anyone, tariffs.
Talk to the leader of that country and claim victory while doing nothing.

That's the great thing about imaginary threats.  They're very easy to solve.  I suspect these tariffs won't appear in any meaningful form.
