There's a reason you have to bump. It's a shit thread! Stop bumping! Your question is answered, let the thread die or GTFO. Either way the thread will die without you bumping it, you may see my second sentence for precise details.
General Douchebag -

this was taken from theflatearthsociety.org homepage...
Welcome to theflatearthsociety.org. This site is dedicated to the discussion of Flat Earth theories. We welcome both skeptics and believers, so please join us.

that definately wasnt written by you was it. and your reply was actually a bump in itself. so thanks for the help. I really want this question answered - and maybe soon someone who has the answer will reply to the thread.  In the meantime though - since you dont have the answer, it is pointless for you to reply to this thread - unless of course you want to help in the bumping... thanks again.

It would be expecting too much to consider the authors of such nonsense to abide by their own rules. The folks who run this site know the "Earth" is not flat as you think of flat. What you are dealing with is a conglomerate of trolls who survive by being confrontational. Attempting, ultimately, to elevate their own status by putting others down. It is quite entertaining if you do not take it too seriously. Oh, whoever deleted my comment regarding the douche's comment - you are obviously afraid of the truth ... <grin> The folks who formerly ran this site actually were intellectuals that I enjoyed sharing ides with. Now … well … see above comment regarding trolls … idots!    :-X

Newton was mostly right about everything (calculus, Newton's Method, cooling) and all that.... except gravity.

I saw Newton playing poker on Star Trek:TNG once ... he seemed like an a-hole ...  :-X

Yes, living is all I have, and I do enjoy living, and yes, I would attempt to postpone my death if I had the option, but I don't fear death. If, for example, I were captured, bound, and lined up on a wall with others, and one-by-one we were systematically killed, I doubt I'd be afraid. I would probably be disappointed that I couldn't live longer or accomplish more (unless I were extremely old and had age-related handicaps, in which death would probably be a nice alternative to suffering), but definitely not afraid.
<snip>
I don't know this for sure, but I would bet if you were bound and lined up on a wall with several others who were being systematically killed one-by-one you would shit your pants, piss on your shows and loose some semen as you got closer and closer to sure death...dumbass...

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Okay. Why don't we just find out?

Or is it more just kind of a fun theory to find evidence for that you really don't care too much about proving or disproving?  I could understand that one, too, perhaps I've been misinterpreting the nature of the enthusiasm.

Oh, tell me what enlightenment should entail, since you seem to know something about it as well.

I don't need to. The fact that you are here is proof of what I wrote…

In the final analysis I don’t see what the big deal is one way or the other. There’s always going to be a group of idiots arguing over this nonsense. Ultimately the point will be made that what is normal for some is not for others, blah, blah, blah – fuck you! Then there’s the “we must be tolerant of others” crowd – tolerate this fuckers!!!!    .;|,,

I’ll meet the few of you who actually have a brain back in one of the science related sections…

PS - yes, I forgot to take my meds this morning...now fuck off...

I practice the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism, actually ... so there is none of that Tibetan tantric tripe.  Zen is all about experiencing life itself, pure and simple, like a hammer to the fore-brain.

Then your head asplode (aka enlightenment).
This is just more bullshit...just like what you accuse your adversaries of. I like when the fundie dude stated "you will probably shit your pants and cry like a baby" when death comes a knockin at your door...pwnd!

PS - look where your "enlightenment" has brought you...to this forum...WOW...I'm impressed...    ::)

I believe he was mocking Gulliver. Because usually, any mention of the indistinguishableness of gravitation vs. acceleration locally is usually followed by Gulliver mentioning tidal forces, followed by something about a closet.

Why people change locally to suit their interests is strange though. In mathematics, you know that subject that people like to use as proof, locally has its own usage. People should instead state what they are doing accurately instead of utilizing their own definitions outside of math.
I have no idea why you can't get it through your thick skull, that anyone with an ounce of intelligence can determine whether the sensation of gravity on Earth is caused by gravitation or acceleration within the confines of a closet-sized room. Since the results of every experiment shows that it's gravitation, FE is flawed and should be rejected.
G, that's not the point. You have been pwned by Divito...again.
PS - I still love you man!

I love you DP.

I agree with your apparent direction in this, although I fear the answers you will get are beyond mixed-bag (too-late). For one thing, no one on the internet can ever really prove anything definitive, which thusly leads myself to conclude (yes, I am seeing this in myself as well) that this is all...a little bit silly. No, not your questions here, just the general patterns that will follow suit.

Yes! No! Prove it! Because this! I am waiting! No! Yes! orly? OLRY! Liar! Conspiracy! What? TITTIES!

I find, more and more everyday, that it really just doesn't matter anymore, one way or another.
Though I consider you a total nut case...I'm forced to agree with you here...

I don't mind correction.
Where is that at? - redundant

Alternatives:
Where is that?
Where is that house?
Where is that house located?
Where is that located?
What is the location of that house?
...

Like that?  You mean why things can be attracted to each other, much like the curve on a wheel allows it to roll.  I believe the answer you're looking for (or the one that I can offer cause I don't know of much proof of the graviton theory) is mass.

Mass is not a mechanism for gravity. Mass is simply a component by which gravitation could be affiliated with. In reality the supposition of mass having connection with gravity does not even work in the RE universe, considering the vast amounts of hypothetical dark matter and dark energy necessary to explain the basic movements of the cosmos.

Quote
The mechanism for UA is unknown, speculative, and entirely hypothetical. It's a fantasy force without a known mechanism.

The mechanism for our "gravity" is not speculative. We can explain why a dropped pen hits the floor without invoking a fictitious fundamental addition to the universe. The mechanism in FE is the mechanical result of an accelerating body. This is the simplest answer.

The root force behind UA may be currently unknown; but that's okay. The force behind UA needs only to use existing forces. To exist, UA does not need to change the fundamental physics of the universe like RE gravity does.

Quote
Which is why, in our model, the Universe is not accelerating upwards.

Actually, your universe is visibly accelerating.

See the Accelerating Universe.

Oh, and while I'm busy making inane remarks, let me also say that I hate your picture...   ???

Too bad TheEngineer hasn't shown up here yet.

Gravity as a force does not exist a la GR.
At least you have represented his argument accurately. I'm sure he'll show up eventually.

it's not a force, stuff just doesn't get "force"; it's caused by something which is gravity, gravity is an effect.  The "mechanism" for gravity has been tested, tested, and tested to phenomenal accuracy, you're upward Earth Acceleration is purely philosophical.  Gravity is physics backed by philosophical arguments.

Please show me where the mechanism for gravity has been tested. We can measure the speed of falling rocks all day; it still does not tell us the mechanism by which it fell. It simply shows that gravitation exists: the attraction between two objects. Magnetism, acceleration, static cling, and buoyancy are also forms of gravitation.

Show us where the graviton theory has been tested as accurate.

I offer no proof, but logical reasoning. You are obviously the kind of person who thinks they are funny, but actually the guy that people laugh at behind their back. This I deduced from the fact that you write like an arrogant 6 year old with a dictionary. You are sitting on here, harassing a group of people who haven't done anything to you. Over the internet.

No life.

And you'ver been here 5 minutes, try reading his posts.
In that case, I rebuke you and all you stand for. Hey, at least you gave me credit for using a dictionary…
