(To FE Believers) Some random questions
« on: November 13, 2007, 07:15:52 AM »
Hello.

As my name states, I am neutral, I am not a believer, no. But I don't think your outright wrong.
I mean, what do we know? In my oppinion, earth could be square.

However, that's not the point of this thread!
I just finnished watching the movie about Flat Earth by Pantheon Movies, and I must say it confuses me alot.
Not because I don't understand his philosophy, but because I am unsure if he tries to tell us that he's right, or that Flat Earth believers are complete touched in their minds.
(The purification part in the end makes me think this, he's good at voice-acting a crazed maniac too. No offence intended!)

But so, I would like to ask some questions:

Sun

So, you claim that it circles around, over the earth. Lighting down on us from above. And that the ice crystals (not mentioned in the movie?) reflect the sun, making the illusion of the sun being there 24 hours in one country.

Now, wouldnt it be easier if the sun was just giant, and filled the whole heaven? That way everyone could get light all day. That is not possible if the earth is round.
Now I do know that this is just how it is, but imagine God doing this, why did he not just make it bigger? Then night would not be there.
Just philosophy, if I were god, and my earth flat, I would give it 24hours sun.

Now, what do you think of things like meteors? Where do they come from? And why/how do they break out from the circle above us?

And the tidewater? RE tells us that when the moon moves, water goes up. And guess what, it does! So why do you think water goes up when the moon moves?

I read on Wikipedia that FE believers believe that there are a huge ice wall around the world, so stuff dosn't... Y'know, fall off. And there's a magnetic field that pushes everything around, making the flying-around-the-world illusion. So, is it not possible in any way at all to get to this ice wall? (past, now, future, dosn't matter, is it possible to anything at all?)

That is it for now, I will come back updating if I find new things that seem unexplainable for me, in the flat earth belief.
Thank you for your time.

I have not  heard of these ice crystals.

God didn't do it.  And even if he did, I'm sure he would have had his reasons.

Many come from earth.  Others are just in the path of the earth as it moves.

Theoretically it could be possible.  It hasn't been done though.

So what do you mean about satelites? I mean, we get pictures, all the time...

There was another thing... Damn. Don't you know that feeling, when there's so many things, that you forget them all? >_<

I got kinda lost in your unmatched quote tags, but I think you asked about satellites.

Either they are LTA devices in the stratosphere, or are caught up in predictable aether eddies.

Enough with the 'magic' trolling.

Wow, my quotes was indeed fucked up....

But I'll try again, anyways.

Quote
A: The government prevents people from getting close enough to the Ice Wall to take a picture.

How exactly do they?
Even though I find all this believing in flat-earth very interesting, it seems it's all just there as an attack against the government...
It makes me imagine crazed voices screaming "Conspirazzzzyyy!!?"
But
How exactly do they?

Oh yes, another thing. I saw on National Geographic once about a bomb, and the blast (shockwave?) traveled around the world 3 times... That would not quite be possible on a FE. Yeah, the blast would hit the walls, and go back. But for that to work fully, the bomb has to explode at the centre of Earth, how is this explained?

They really don't have to do much.  People barely ever travel deep into Antarctica.

I'd have to have more information on the bomb, shockwave, etc to even hazard a guess.

Well, I can't tell much about the shockwave anyways, just seemed strange.

They damn better protect the damn wall, if they arent, then why are you FE'rs not out taking pictures and proving us to sillyness?

Oh, and I'm guessing that this wall of ice has been there all the time, aye?
Soooo, how does it manage to keep standing, still intact? I mean, everything else falls apart on earth, vulcans. And when they do, they sometimes create tsunamies.
So, if a big chunck of this ice wall falls down, and into the water, we're basically doomed due to tsunamiage. If not, why?

The icewall is inland.  Well, outland i suppose.

Vulcans?

Anyway, the ice wall is a direct consequence of the subduction of the outbound tectonic plates at the outer ring.
