Disproving Flat Earth w/Distances
« on: April 29, 2024, 04:33:53 PM »
Take the distance around the so-called "Ice Wall" on a flat Earth. It's the circumference of the entire Earth.
However, if you go around the south pole on a globe (where the edge would be on a flat Earth), the distance is 0 meters.

Why is there such a discrepancy, if only one is true?

It can be proved that the globe's model of Antarctica is true by also looking at the tips of South America and Africa.
Flat Earth is FORCED to stretch what would be the southern hemisphere on a globe, since there isn't enough Earth to fully fit a flat Earth model.
Going to Antarctica isn't even needed to prove its existence; we can do so just by looking at the distance between two obviously existent continents.

Ok, then, make the South Pole the center of the globe!

That's fixed, what else ya got?

wdym by make it the center of the globe

If you're talking about flat earth then what about the north pole?

If you're not, then I'm utterly confused by what you mean with "make it the center"

Please don't use obscure abbreviations.

The flat earthers use a projection of the earth onto a plane, where the North Pole is at the center.  This causes many problems with navigation in the southern hemisphere.

Instead, use a projection with the South Pole at the center, and navigation near the South Pole will be greatly improved.

Or, we could use math to modify the calculations, resulting in useful navigation everywhere.  We can call it, "The Globe Earth".  :-o

Maybe I should’ve clarified that disproving the Ice Wall’s existence means that most Flat Earthers are untrustworthy, which probably means that the Earth is round. (I believe in the globe model, by the way)

The ice wall has been properly predicted. It has not been dis-proven by round Earth believers.

Until the Earth shape debate is finalized, the ice wall remains a part of the conversation.

It is sad that people have to use the term "believe" when it comes to science.  This website is pretty crazy.

The ice wall has very much been disproven.  We have people working at the South Pole.
