Arizona House GOP fails to expel Democrat over Bible prank https://www.npr.org/2023/06/13/1182022488/arizona-house-censure-expulsion-bible-prank-ethics-investigation
Summary:
Woman hides bibles under seat cushions.
Republicans explode in fury as they may have sat on it. Considering this to be an extremely offensive act in Christianity. Vote to ban pankster from the government.
Its like she burned the Koran in an islamic country....
They should get a grip.
I speak as a devout Christian (and/or other religions, as I am syncretist).
20 You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as, 21 “Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”? 22 Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. 23 These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.
The "holy" Muslims legit would fixate over the things that deteriorate. Because they are in fact idolaters, fixated on precisely these rules about things, and not at all devout about the God that doesn't pass away. If every last Christian was destroyed, it would not do anything to God's promise of grace. The world might be without knowledge of a message of grace, but it honestly doesn't need either the Bible or Christians.
What is true is that people shouldn't be pulling "pranks" in the House. Seriously, are eight? Grown-ass damned woman and you hide a book you've probly never read, because you think it would get a rise out of people. No, the reason she should be banned from government has more to do with her woeful lack of maturity.
I get what she did and why, but the fact that her defense is "it's just a prank bro" doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
And suppose some Dems are Muslim (statistically, more of them are than Repubs, with Illhan Omar being an example) and you put a Quran under their seat. "Just a prank" as she calls for ppl's heads (literally).
A prank? No, don't pull crap like that in a professional setting. If it's not April Fools, I'm afraid you have a duty to the country, the same as the president. Or do you think the president is the only one who has to take their office seriously?
