Hiding bibles! Burn her!

When we dumped all our religious nutters in boats and said go make a new Jerusalem in the new-world, we fully expected them to sink/fall off the edge or be assimilated by the indigenous peoples, not survive, regress and eventually become an idiocrasy.

I blame the native Americans for trying to be nice, you can’t be nice to fanatics they’ll always find a way to persecute you for being better than them. Americans you must ridicule these people openly or there will be pogroms.

Her name is Stephanie Stahl Hamilton. When does it say she burned a Koran in an Islamic country? I'm not seeing that in the article. The only reference to the Koran at all actually pointed out how ridiculous it was that other legislators had indicated her actions would have been offensive even if she had done her prank with another holy book, but there were specifically no other holy books in the members lounge where this happened. Which is kind of a problem, in that we're not supposed to be favoring any particular religion or holy book or anything else in state or federal government in the US. But that notwithstanding, you said "he" (meaning she) burned a Koran, and did so in an Islamic country, and I'm just not seeing that.

And sitting in those same secular halls, one of those Republicans asked who's reputation they cared more about - God's or Stephanie's - as if worrying about God's reputation when it comes to running a state legislature should even come up for conversation.

I was making an analogy. >_>
You did see the bit of "like" right?

And yeah, messed up pronouns there.

Nope, I did not ;D I completely skipped the word "like" somehow and it definitely changed the tone of the entire post lol.

Anyway, she was acting childish and doesn't come out of this looking like she made a really great and cutting prank. And all the pearl-clutching "oh mylanta, I done desecrated a bible" is more than a bit much and maybe just get your damn holy books out of the halls of government thank you very much. A stupid prank to point out a stupid hypocrisy that wasn't even an unknown hypocrisy needing the harsh light of reality shown upon it.

Will this help Stahl-Hamilton getting any actual legislating done? Probably not, and it'll probably make it harder in fact.

I get what she did and why, but the fact that her defense is "it's just a prank bro" doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I object to this prank.  It's lazy and weak.

A more committed politician would have turned the stolen bibles into rolls of toilet paper to be placed at the bathrooms of the state capitol.

Then we would have much more interesting speeches to try to expel her.  They could proudly stand before the Arizona government and say when the choice was wiping their ass or serving God they kept the faith.

They should get a grip.

I speak as a devout Christian (and/or other religions, as I am syncretist).

Quote
20 You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as, 21 “Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”? 22 Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. 23 These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.

The "holy" Muslims legit would fixate over the things that deteriorate. Because they are in fact idolaters, fixated on precisely these rules about things, and not at all devout about the God that doesn't pass away. If every last Christian was destroyed, it would not do anything to God's promise of grace. The world might be without knowledge of a message of grace, but it honestly doesn't need either the Bible or Christians.

What is true is that people shouldn't be pulling "pranks" in the House. Seriously, are eight? Grown-ass damned woman and you hide a book you've probly never read, because you think it would get a rise out of people. No, the reason she should be banned from government has more to do with her woeful lack of maturity.

Quote
I get what she did and why, but the fact that her defense is "it's just a prank bro" doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

And suppose some Dems are Muslim (statistically, more of them are than Repubs, with Illhan Omar being an example) and you put a Quran under their seat. "Just a prank" as she calls for ppl's heads (literally).
A prank? No, don't pull crap like that in a professional setting. If it's not April Fools, I'm afraid you have a duty to the country, the same as the president. Or do you think the president is the only one who has to take their office seriously?

As a devout apostle of Discordia* blasphemy is both impossible and an essential goal.

Any god that is so precious that the words and actions of its toys can upset it, is so far up its own arse as to be unworthy of the label, its icons should be dipped in yellow paint, its temples converted to wallaby sanctuaries and its disciples forced to wear their clothes backwards.

I Jura, (Archimandrite of the blistered palm) have spoken.
