We're all still alive so far, right? I still feel alive. Am I really here, or do I just think I am?
Are you a human dreaming of being a penguin, or a penguin dreaming of being human?
At least for now, I am the humannest human to ever have humanned. Have you ever seen a penguin stand on its hands like this?

Yes, it should be as easy as going into the Smileys admin area and remapping the missing smileys. And yet, still, I cannot cry. :'(

I'm going to do my best to stand on my hands and make my way to the nearest tavern where I will order a Foster's.

Hello all!
I don't get on well with social interaction so I will be retreating over that hill and pelting rocks at anyone who attempts to approach me. Thank you for understanding.
A hermit-werepenguin, I've seen this once before...

...whether balloons...
Pardon the intrusion, but I couldn't let this excellent pun just float by completely undetected like some sort of Chinese spy satellite

Just think. It took Russia a year to cause this level of destruction in Ukraine.

Mother nature did it in 5 minutes to turkey.
Russia tried to do this to Ukraine, and in doing so, Ukraine might have the same infrastructure damages sure. But, I'll raise you this: Russia's own level of human loss might be on par with the earthquake.

Radio transmissions exist. That is what a satellite receiver is picking up. It's radio waves, not satellite waves. Your language presumes there is a satellite, and that's kind of the opposite of the null hypothesis.

Oh wow, and then there's this:
"Catastrophe risk firm Risklayer has raised its projected death toll in Turkey and Syria from the earthquakes to 45,330 (it was 34,520 yesterday)"

This person on Twitter shared an image of the USGS ShakeMap from the earthquake overlaying the UK to show the scale

The cleaning and rebuilding are going to take a long time. The healing is going to take even longer. It's really hard to process the scale of destruction that happened, it still seems very surreal from my far-away vantage point.

While under deep cover, I learned of Chechnya's workings to try and get Putin to invade Poland. I raced back to share as quickly as I could, but it seems the news has broken in the mainstream already. Undoubtedly, this is because the secret documents that I confiscated were found to be missing, a necessary risk.

The building codes are there, but from what I've been able to read it seems like they are often overlooked because they are expensive to follow.

3,500 dead now.

I get the impression that these buildings are still in the process of collapsing.  They might have a situation where any building taller than a few stories is now unsafe to use.

There's that, and then there's the likelihood of more aftershocks still to come. I just looked on the USGS site and they've had 4 major earthquakes today listed at 6.0 or above.

This looks like nearly an entire city block, turned to rubble, and supposedly this was from before the second quake hit. This is insanely tragic.

Go squish that sunset picture horizontally and have a gander and what you see, it's really neat.

Kinda hard to see the important part right away. If I zoom in on the horizon, it looks like this in your picture:

Weird, huh?

If there are any FES members that would like to check it out, join the server and just listen and make up your own mind.
That's what I'm saying, though... I did join. And it left me wondering things. Things like these:
What's with the weird leveling system? Is it tied to how many times you post something? What's the point of it? Why is there a mod out there calling people derogatory names and then following it up with "uh, well, I have tourette's" as if that is an excuse? Why are new people being bombarded by mods demanding to know if you are FE or RE the moment they show up? Shouldn't that be something a person could opt into on their own?

I cant answer the leveling system, I find it weird myself.   As for the insults, unfortunately its just the nature of the community.  I am sure it happens here as well.   Each side insults the other to some extent.   As long as it doesn't cross the line, just deal with it.   Unfortunately the definition of 'crossing the line' can be different for everyone.   But its really difficult to root out the insults completely from both sides.   It is what it is.  Regarding the FE or RE, that is just for roles, so everyone can be assigned a role and if you do participate people can look at your profile and know where you stand without asking.
I think a near-universal definition of "crossing the line" should include a moderator claiming that Tourette's is causing them to say things like that. Don't you? And why should anyone need to look at my profile to see where I stand? Shouldn't one's arguments stand on their own merit? Are the people there so incapable of independent thought that the need to check to see if they are on the same FE/RE team as the person they are about to reply to? If not, then that mechanic doesn't really matter and might even be harmful to productive conversation.

You guys have fun with it. From what I saw already and what you're saying here it, sounds like my time already spent there was more than enough time for me.

Good luck, Wise. Glad you are OK. Seems like a very scary situation for a lot of people right now.

That Discord server is like a middle school hallway 2 days before summer vacation. Yikes.

Edit: What's with the weird leveling system? Is it tied to how many times you post something? Seems like a weird way to build in some sort of appeal to authority, on a server where that sort of fallacy should be quickly weeded out. There's a lot going on here, I've only scratched the very surface and like I said, I bailed already.

So those Chinese spy balloons... I'm not saying those were mine, and that I dressed them up to look like Chinese spy balloons just in case they got into some trouble, and I'm also not not saying that.

Debbies 18, 23, 24, and 29 have gone offline :'(

On the propaganda side though, things are going well. Jimmies have been rustled, pots stirred, just really great and fun stuff.

Edit to add: What the actual fuck, why isn't the crying emoji working in my time of need? I'M FUCKING MOURNING OVER HERE MY BEES ARE FUCKING DEAD. Why you do this to me, SMF?

Mmmm, maybe try the propaganda.
Well fine, I'll just set this swarm free to do as it will then and I'll get started propagandizing.

I've used advanced Artificial Intelligence to create a swarm of highly intelligent cybernetic balloon animals - all the cutest of animals, too, so as to be quite disarming.

Here is Reginald the balloon sloth:

A mated pair of balloon ostriches and their balloon baby named Sam, The Sham, and The Pharoah:

And I have 35 clones of this delightful balloon bee, named Debbies 16-51:

I'm a little confused, so let me just ask a clarifying question to be sure I focus my efforts where they are most needed and most helpful. Should my chief priority be in the propaganda and balloon animal direction, or should I be more focused on the intelligence side of things?

Boydsta, Minister for propaganda and balloon animals.
Crouton, Master of the night’s travails.
Slem, Chief investigator and library returns.

You just got yourself a FES-themed balloon hat that looks like the AE projection resting atop a turtle's shell
