If you drive a car over a flat plate it breaks. What do you think would happen if you drove a car over a flat earth.

Can someone make this a meme please.

It's not hard to understand. Relative to some standing on the earth, the sun takes 24 hours to go around. The moon takes a bit longer because it's orbiting the same way the earth spins, so it goes slower across the sky.
So while the moon still travels in the same direction, the faster moving sun catches up with in.

When you want to prove that NASA photoshops images, photoshop the images yourself and claim they are from NASA!

Is the Galaxy Zoo on Devon Island ? Because you mentioned exploring the surface of Mars .... ::) ::) ::)

Can you link to where NASA says that second photo is from mars, I think not, your claim of a hoax, is a hoax itself.
So you can't see the difference between Mars and Devon Island + red filter.

Case closed !!!

No it's not case closed...it's a case of your mind closed.

Did you even go to the site?.....it's got little to do with NASA!  Why are you narrow minded Americans so fixated with NASA?

Your argument that dismisses this world wide project involving both the public and many scientific institutions in hundreds of diverse projects is to drag up two random images that prove just how narrow minded and ignorant you actually are. Do yourself a favour and visit the site rather than posting conspiracy drivel that proves nothing!
You have been framed by moi !!!!
Of course i visited the site.......to proof you children that you don't see the difference between mars and earth+red filter.
Ka-ching for NASA...who has a studio set up, with rovers & co in Devon Island for the steep price of only billions of taxpayers money.

Hurray for the shit photographs from mars that look exactly like places on earth with a red filter and some little photoshop tweeks where needed.
You might as well empty your bank account into their pockets straight away....how gullible can people be.

Fuckkkkkk....that anyone believes they are actually on mars with a ''rover'' toy sending photographic ''data'' (lossless compression  ;D ;D ;D ;D) over 200 MILLION km back to earth...boy o boy....
Can you reply with a link to the place on the NASA website where they claim that the image is of mars? Is this really that hard to understand?

I think he was suggesting that it's quite simple for a NASA denier to apply a red filter to a NASA rover test image.
It's well known that there is an exact duplicate of the rover here on earth, used for testing maneuvers before compromising the remote unit with difficult instructions.
That is what I am saying. Seems he can't read, I said "Can you link to where NASA says that second photo is from mars", and it seems he can't.

So, nothing in the replies so far show any evidence of a flat earth which really isnt surprising.
Are you blind?

Be a smart.

This is an exact proof but you are saying there isin't. Are you joke or alt member of rabinoz?

You are saying lie. Shame on you mister, shame on you.

Flat Earthers will not have a map that works.....The maps work now as flat. It's when you make them into a globe that the problems arise.
Can you link to said map please. So I should be able to triangulate the height of the north start using this map?

"There are rivers that flow for hundreds of miles towards the level of the sea without falling more than a few feet — notably, the Nile, which, in a thousand miles, falls but a foot. A level expanse of this extent is quite incompatible with the idea of the Earth's convexity. It is, therefore, a reasonable proof that Earth is not a globe"
Why this is not taught in school, a mystery.

The red line is on the horizon way off in the distance, not beneath the bridge. Stupid meme.

not at all.....just sounds and looks like desperate BS.
So on a flat earth the bottom half of the mountain magically disappears. It's amazing how a flat earthers mind just blanks out whenever there is a picture that shows something impossible.
Like the rotation of stars in the southern hemisphere.

The trouble with scale models of the solar system is that there's a lot of space and not much solar system, as this illustrates:

Well it has been done

And look, flat at sea level

... Well okay not quiet, but there is a downwards camera angle.

Mountains are tall.

Flat Earth General / Re: What world would you rather live in?
« on: March 30, 2017, 02:46:15 AM »
It would be interesting if the earth was an infinite plane and the other "planets" (areas that have their own sun) were near enough for us to reach. They could even contain aliens, but would such an encounter be good for both species, if we are at different tech levels then history says no.
If we are talking about the real world be are currently living in, it would be very disappointing to find out that it wasn't a  concave round one, as it would mean that I am a complete idiot for thinking that the evidence for a concave round earth was 100% foolproof. All my knowledge about science and geometry would be completely wrong, even the parts I understand from first principles. It would mean that my ability to reason logically would be fundamentally flawed. It would be a very scary and depressing place to live in. I wouldn't know anything about the world at all.
Thinking about this has made be realise why it's impossible to convince flat earths that they are wrong. As humans we only understand a small part of the universe, having that small part taken away would be horrible.

Pictures showing the curvature.

Here are two pictures of Mallorca taken from a beach at Cala'n Bosch, Menorca. About 45km distance between the two.
One was taken standing on the beach, the second was taken standing on a lifeguard post about 2m high. Both are taken at x40 zoom.

How does the FET explain the increased height in the second.

Standing at sea level.

About 2m higher.

If you don't believe there is a height difference, download the images and check the height of the land in pixels.

How are you getting on providing a proper rebuttal to the cavendish experiment?
I don't need to provide a rebuttal. It's not even an experiment. It's a nothing thing.

It's like me hanging a brick from a shed roof and saying the string is proof that the shed roof is pulling up the brick.

It's just nonsense, so don't try and use it as if you're proving gravity when you have no clue what gravity is.
Absolute nonsense.

So you can't provide any rebuttal at all.

Can you explain why the weights are deflected towards each other?
Earth has a natural whirlpool action from the centre, outwards.
Everything is moving around you as matter.
It also moves hanging mass.

If you can now tell me what the gravitational force is that causes the mass to meet mass is, then fire away but don't just say "it just does" because that is not an answer, no matter how many of your peers you have stood beside you.
Can you explain why I can't walk through walls, there is no good reason for why I can't occupy the same space on the wall, don't say "I just can't" or say there is some magic force that causes matter to push other matter when they try to pass through each other.

Btw pressure doesn't exist, can you show me a physical piece of pressure, you can say that your barometer moving shows pressure but it doesn't, it just shows a barometer moving, no one can explain why this magical invisible pressure real exists. Stop being a brainwashed sheep and realise that denpressure is impossible, be a free thinker and realise the truth.

Also If I breath near a barometer it doesn't move, but my breathing should be moving air so should change the air pressure, further evidence that air pressure doesn't exist!

Given the atmospheric pressure and the volume and mass of an object, how much acceleration will the magic pressure cause?

Also btw pressure doesn't exist, can you show me a physical piece of pressure, you can say that your barometer moving shows pressure but it doesn't, it just shows a barometer moving, no one can explain why this magical invisible pressure real exists. Also yes, Rabinoz, your post reminds me of a deliberate attempt to draw attention away from the topic at hand. I do not accept your apology. Show me some proof that NASA and the soviet space program was NOT started by Nazis!
The equation c=2πr has nothing to do with the reality? Are you a member of the philosophy that believes π doesn't exist?

Small question, what is it that makes you geometry flat instead of +/- curved?

How is that relevent to dinosaurs?
The OP started a discussion about geometry.

John the shortest distance between two points on a flat surface is a straight line.
Show this is the case, presuming you mean any flat surface, and I'll gladly admit I'm wrong. Also, why it is relevant.

The triangle inequality, a <= b+c is true in flat space.
Consider the straight line AB and some curve c that goes from A to B and isn't equal to AB.
A set of C points will be used to approximate c.
Step 1
Pick a point C1 on c, the path A,C1, B is clearly longer than AB by the triangle inequality.
Step n
Pick another point Cn on the path c, then find the points Cr and Cs that are before and after Cn on the curve c.
The path Cr,Cn,Cs is longer or equal to the path Cr,Cs by the triangle inequality. So the approximation of c given by the n C points is still longer than AB.
So by induction any approximation of a curve from A to B by a finite number of points is longer than AB.

This can be extended to the length of the curve itself.
Consider the sequence T. The value of Tn is the length of a finite approximation of c by a set of points where no two successive points are more than 1/n distance apart. Also the approximation used for Tn+1 must contain all the points used for Tn.
The limit of the sequence will be greater than AB, and will be equal to the length of c.
Therefore the straight line AB is the shortest path between A and B.
I feel like my proof has been ignored.
I missed it.

I'm sorry, you seem to be using some terms you haven't defined, such as some straight line AB. How exactly do you define a straight line? And such a straight line that lies from A to B?
I just meant the normal definition of a straight line, it's a primitive object of the geometry and any two points share a line. Come to think of it straight lines are normally given the property of being the shortest path between two set points, so my proof it a bit redundant if that is an axiom.

I have a feeling the definition of straight line is different in the geometry you have, so I think it would be easier if you give the axioms of it and I see if I can still find a proof.
Small question, what is it that makes you geometry flat instead of +/- curved?

Flat Earth General / Re: Is evidence free belief ok?
« on: December 24, 2016, 02:12:07 PM »
Many of the threads here on this forum all have something in common, the rejection of evidence in favour of a deeply held belief. The existance of a dome for one. When it was first postulated over 2000 years ago our knowledge of the universe and the world we lived in was pretty basic. Here in the year 2016 soon to be 2017 we have come a long way. Our knowledge of the planet we live on and the solar system we are part of is pretty substantial.
If one look up we can see the ISS and with the aid of binoculars see other sattalites. This is not knowledge that has come from on high this is evidence that we can all verify easily just by looking up.
http://www.space.com/32054-satellite-tracker.html

Yet despite this clear evidence that is available to all the belief of the existance of a dome still persists, why is that? It's one of the many strands of flat earth belief I find most perplexing.

The question I would like to ask flat earthers is: despite being able to observe satellites orbiting the Earth in a predicted way, according to the many web sites that deal with this topic, why does belief in a dome exist when there is no evidence for it?
Do you have any evidence that the world was not created last Tuesday, do you believe it wasn't?
