I just found the forums and I'm am glad to finally see some fellow FE'rs.  The reason I'm a FE is because I myself have tested for the convexity of the oceans but have seen them to be perfectly flat.  I do not know everything about the FE and how it works just that it is flat.  I'm sure many of us FE'rs are ridiculed here but if thats what it takes to spread the truth I am fine with it.  I hope to gain knowledge in the FE so I can spread the truth.  One of my questions that I don't understand is that the Sun and Moon are above us and very small (the sun is 32 miles in diameter I think?) but in the RE model everything is centered around the sun.  So my question is what do the other planets revolve around or do we know.

He's saying he doesn't really believe you're a flat earther. I don't think it's that relevant anyway, though, because it's a valid enough question. Might be answered somewhere else in the forum, but i'm not sure -- have a search just in case.

A troll is someone that tries to start arguments online, I think, more or less.

If you don't understand something you're meant to blame the conspiracy, or make "I have no idea" sound more credible, something like "The mechanism is not known as of yet".

The measured diameter of Jupiter is 142984km (+-8km).  That's pretty big.

I don't see that Horatio has done anything wrong in asking Tom to disprove the figure he gave. Tom's statement that "the planets are pretty small" holds an implicit invitation to disprove, as well, since he probably knew the majority of people on this forum would disagree with that statement.

How did you measure the planets as "pretty small", Tom?

Also, what is "pretty small"? I guess even Horatio's figure for Jupiter's diameter is pretty small when compared to the size of the universe.

Well i'd like him to prove his figures. Does he know how NASA obtained them? Could he prove these figures correct? One person's findings in science is never enough. Others must verify them.

You're right. What I should've said is it was no worse than Tom just throwing out his assertion that the planets are "pretty small" :) What's fair for the goose should be fair for the gander.

They should both give some evidence and proof - Horatio shouldn't be any more (or less) bound to do so than Tom.

More like, if people followed the BoP, they wouldn't have to argue over what to prove vs. all the other crap that's been spewed. I find that more uninteresting and useless in an argument than something established. Not that I expect anyone to use their brain though.

This isn't really an official debate or even a forum of scientific discussion. Burden of proof could be demanded of a FE'er for a figure he pulled out of his ass, or for a RE'er to make him realize he is blindly accepting a number he was told.
