The Lounge / Why can't we be friends?

The administrators of both societies are currently discussing a reunification. I'm not directly involved in the process, so don't axe me any questions. All of the information we have so far is available in this thread. The discussions appear to be going well, but nothing is final.

Anyway, I'm wondering how people here feel about this possibility. Are most of you even aware of the other site? If not, imagine something similar to this but with fewer cube earth jokes and less traffic but greater user retention.  Parsifal and Pizza have both proven to be excellent administrators, and I think a combination of skills from both sides of the schism would lead to a society greater than either of the two we have now.

TempleOS is a fairly basic operating system, similar to DOS in many ways. It's free, and open-source. It was also developed by a paranoid schizophrenic who believes that God lives in this OS - that it is quite literally his temple. After watching the narrated demonstration videos and reading a lot of his comments, I've come to believe that the creator isn't faking his insanity. Insanity and software development make for a pretty interesting mixture.

Also, it was called "Hoppy" at one point during development.

I'm sure most of you have noticed that Youtube has adopted a new layout that makes negative sense. They must have made a mistake. For those who aren't aware,



about half of the screen is utilized. Also, instead of exclusively showing videos related to the one you're currently watching on the sidebar, videos that Google thinks you would be interested based on your history are now also shown. I already know that I like Chopin, thanks.

Also, this might be better suited for Technology & Information. I was blinded by my rage. Does anybody know why they've chosen to do this?

After making my case for the Master Chief in a thread about Texas, it occurred to me that this is an incredibly serious topic. Which video-game protagonist would be able to defeat all others? Of course, with such a wide variety of universes from which to pull candidates, comparing can be difficult, so universes that try to maintain some sort of realism are the most convenient. For example, I know at least one person will bring up that stupid game where you roll the ball around and stick larger and larger objects to it. Just shut up. That game sucks.

Anyway, as I said, my allegiance in this important debate lies with any survivor of the UNSC Spartan II program, with my case being made here:

Even with ten times his normal physical strength, [Doomguy] probably still wouldn't be able to match the MC. Every Spartan has nearly unbreakable bones, enhanced musculature (a UNSC Spartan is Thork's worst nightmare), artificial thyroid enhancement to facilitate further skeletal and muscular growth, and neurological modifications that increase reflexes to 300% that of a normal man, among other things. That's all without the suit, of course, which is so powerful that anybody who attempts to wear it without an augmented skeletal structure will quite literally tear their own body apart with their new strength.

Additionally, Spartans are clever. They're handpicked by ONI at a very young age, after they've displayed outstanding feats of strength and intelligence. From then, their lives are dedicated wholly to the training that will turn their minds and bodies into the ultimate tools of war. Even without their MJOLNIR armor, any Spartan could easily outwit and eliminate any single opponent like Freeman or Doomguy in practically any real world situation.

By far the most cleverly written webcomic on the internet. Oh wait, that means almost nothing. Well, it's more cleverly written and has a more engrossing story than a lot of novels I've read as well. It's also a fantastic way to expand your vocabulary, you mendicant recalcitrants (or recalcitrant mendicants). I actually discovered the original soundtrack before the comic itself, which is equally awesome.



Intense.

Homestuck. It's hilarious and awesome, one might even say hilariously awesome. You should read at least as far as the first "battle scene", which is where I was smitten.

Anencephalic fetuses basically don't grow brains, only brain stems. They normally die in the womb or very shortly after birth. This one, however, had enough brain to regulate basic body functions.



Should the family have sustained the child's life for this long, or for any amount of time? Obviously, their motivation was mostly religious.

After drying my tears I realised something: I am not Around and About, nor am I rooster. I used to post from the same IP as A&A, but not anymore. I can only assume that the "tracker" is rather daft.

In conclusion, I should not be banned. Oh yeah, and neither should A&B or rooster, they post from the same IP because they live together.

Just recently, having moved into a room with a baby grand piano in it  , I've taken to playing again. Right now, I'm only interested in classical but I've enjoyed playing many types of music in the past.

Numbers stations are shortwave radio stations that broadcast encoded messages, usually in the form of numbers or spelling alphabet words spoken by an automated voice. It's reasonable to assume that these messages are intended for very specific recipients, most likely government or military operatives in the field. Some are more mysterious than others, and others seem to serve no purpose whatsoever; but it obviously requires resources to maintain a radio broadcast, so even the most incomprehensible broadcasts must serve some purpose.

1. UVB-76

From Wikipedia:

UVB-76 (sometimes referred to as UZB-76, but recently MDZhB[1]) is the call sign of a shortwave radio station that usually broadcasts on the frequency 4625 kHz (AM suppressed lower sideband). It is known among radio listeners by the nickname The Buzzer. It features a short, monotonous About this sound buzz tone (help·info), repeating at a rate of approximately 25 tones per minute, for 24 hours per day. The station has been observed since around 1982.[2] On rare occasions, the buzzer signal is interrupted and a voice transmission in Russian takes place. Despite much speculation, the actual purpose of this station remains unknown to the public.[3]

Anyone else play this? For those who don't know, it's a military simulator that aims to be as realistic as possible. The singleplayer gameplay consists of spending 30 minutes trying to sneak up on an enemy encampment and then getting killed by a sniper that you didn't see and having to start all over. Multiplayer is pretty fun.
