I see now that it undermines our ability to run these forums in an effective way, your trust in us, and your view of the Society in general. I was clearly angry at the situation, but the actions taken were silly, trite, and wrong. Sorry Jack, Dispute, others, and Australia.

I will be taking measure to ensure transparency in how the workings of the forum are run. This won't happen overnight, but I had started this by having a public repository for the code, and will take additional measures to ensure this always reflect the state of the server. I will also implement methodology to avoid manual changes being made to the server code that can be applied broadly to users such as a drunk filter text that is added to users when they personally insult me or claim I am drunk, in rehab, or an alcoholic (I am not.)

Further, I am once again removing myself from any moderation or administration. Time and time again I have shown I am too hot headed for such a position.

Also it needs to be said - it was not my intent to remove SCG as a moderator; I unintentionally left it in a bad state while leaving. SCG has done nothing but help the forums here and the community her entire tenure and I hope she continues to do so, but it is understood if she'd rather go to greener and purpler pastures. Either way - SCG personally, publically, I'd like to apologize for both my actions and my misactions. I am forever grateful, and will always consider you a friend.

Finally, I will be starting a campaign to increase forum traffic and attempt to save these forums from themselves and myself. This will be across various media and include a redesign of the site, its contents, our branding and message, this forum, and likely move away from a strictly forum based approach to something more modern. Don't worry - it will likely allow for viewing it in either a forum based mode or a feed view. The idea here is to help new users have access to us - not to disrupt the things we all enjoy about the forums.

I understand this apology likely will be looked at with distrust by many, but it is sincere and I will work towards these goals diligently. Please let me know if there is anything additional I can do and it will be considered.
