Stop saying general relativity means gravity doesn't exist, that's just logically wrong.

Flat Earth Debate / More evidence of the distance of other planets.
« on: December 07, 2016, 09:50:58 AM »
Today's Google doddle is about an experiment that measured the speed of light using the distance of planets, it's not hard to do the reverse if you know the speed of light from experiments we can now do on earth.

I've got a theory
That it's a demon
A dancing demon - nyehh, something isn't right there
I've got a theory
Some kid is dreaming
And we're all stuck inside his wacked broadway nightmare
I've got a theory, we should work this out
It could be witches
Some evil witches
Which is ridiculous 'cause witches they were
Persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and
Women power and
I'll be over here
I've got a theory
It could be bunnies
Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses
And what's with all the carrots
What do they need such good eyesite for anyway
Bunnies, bunnies
It must be bunnies
Or maybe midgets
I've got a theory, we should work this fast
Because it clearly could get serious before it's passed
I've got a theory
It doesn't matter

Flat Earth Debate / Explain these pictures?
« on: August 26, 2016, 12:50:24 PM »
Here are two pictures of Mallorca taken from a beach at Cala'n Bosch, Menorca. About 45km distance between the two, but I don't know the exact location I was looking up.
One was taken standing on the beach, the second was taken standing on a lifeguard post about 2m high. Both are taken at x40 zoom.

How does the FET explain the increased height in the second.

Standing at sea level.

About 2m higher.

If you don't believe there is a height difference, download the images and check the height of the land in pixels.

Flat Earth General / Trigonometry of the stars to create a map
« on: August 17, 2016, 11:55:29 PM »
While any attempt to use trigonometry in Euclidean space gives a round earth, hasn't John Davis created a geometry that agrees with a flat earth? Couldn't star maps combined with the Davis geometry create a rough map of the planet.
If you are willing to trust the high position data given by some observatories, the map could become pretty accurate. If you don't trust them, then just use star maps to a precision that can be checked by amateur astronomy.

Flat Earth General / Ptolemaic systems
« on: August 12, 2016, 08:08:35 AM »

Does the fact that a Ptolematic system can work for any path make it good or bad for basing a scientific theory around.
Hint: Look up Newton's flaming laser sword.

Flat Earth General / Infinite earth and pictures from space.
« on: June 28, 2016, 11:16:05 AM »
If the earth is an infinite plane, wouldn't this be easy to prove by sending up a camera with a helium balloon.
On an infinite plane we would expect the horizon to be blurry, as it would be caused by the limit that light can travel through air, instead of looking sharp as expected on a globe.

This star makes no sense in the FET, it's south of everyone.

Flat Earth General / How can the stars fit on a sphere?
« on: June 25, 2016, 10:56:37 AM »
The FET says that the stars are on a disk that rotates around the north pole. How come if you map the stars onto a sphere with the observer at the center, the future position of the stars can be found by rotating said sphere around a point (with the point being your latitude degrees above north/south)

Flat Earth General / Explain the latitude symmetry.
« on: June 23, 2016, 08:18:32 AM »
When looking at the stars, being a certain amount north gives a similar view to being the same amount south of the equator. One example are the stars that never set, the same percentage of stars don't set if you a x degrees north or south. Why is this.
This question is only for the flat earth model, I know the round earth answer.

Flat Earth General / Method of calculating distances on flat earth.
« on: June 21, 2016, 01:30:28 PM »
Assume that the earth is flat.
Now GPS transmitters send out a radio signal that contains the time that the signal is sent. The difference between that time and the current time is used to calculate the distance between the reciever and transmitters. Now the distance calculated is too large to agree with the flat earth idea of transmitters on the ground, so the only way for the FEH to be right is for the time contained in the signal is not the real time that the signal is sent. This means that the distance you calculate from the transmitter is always a certain constant more that the real distance. This fact can be used to calculate the real distances on the flat earth.
The two yellow dots are two point on the surface of the earth, one is straight beneath a transmitter (it is the point that has the smallest distance to is). Given a "fake" round earth distance (distance following the curve of the earth, not length of a straight line connecting them) between the two point X, and the real height of the transmitter from ground T, and the "fake" height of the transmitter S, the "real" flat earth distance between the points can be found.

The green dot is the transmitter.
The angle a=X/R (using radians), D=sqrt(2R^2*(1-cos(a)) (D is the staight line distance between the points). The angle between D and S is equal to x/2r + pi/2. Using the cosine rule again, F=sqrt(D^2+S^2-2*D*S*cos(x/2r + pi/2)), so from the "fake" distance x, the "fake" distance to the transmitter F can be found.

Now H=F-S+T, Dr=sqrt(H^2-T^2).
This is the full equation for finding the real distance between two points.

Now for a transmitter and two points, S and x can found using round earth data, all that is need is a method of finding T and you have a way of either creating a flat earth map using triangluation, or disproving it using a contradiction in the distances.

Got a way to conclusively proof whether or not satellites exist and if the earth is curved or flat.
http://www.aholme.co.uk/GPS/Main.htm
It's possible to build your own gps receiver.
Now for the earth to be flat, all gps unit maker have to be in on the conspiracy, because the coordinates gps recievers give you don't fit on a plane, they fit on a sphere.
Now if someone here was to make the gps device in the link, they could check if the commercial gps devices are lying about the satellite location or the receiver location.
If the satellite location is a lie, satellites aren't real, and if the receiver location is a lie, the earth is flat.
Are any flat earthers willing to test this.

Flat Earth Debate / Gravity is magic?
« on: March 15, 2016, 10:00:04 AM »
Can someone give me a reason why gravity is magic, that doesn't also apply to electromagnetism, or the universal accelerator?
My bet is that no one can give a correct answer.
Edit: By correct I meant an answer that address "why this doesn't also apply to electromagnetism, or the universal accelerator". I should of chosen a better word, maybe "full answer".

Flat Earth General / Relativity is wrong?
« on: March 01, 2016, 09:21:07 AM »
It seems that the equivalence principle is wrong. Here's a thought experiment that shows it to be wrong.
Take a spherical body with a gravitational field, and two people on opposite sides. The both have the equipment to send neutrinos through the planet, so they can know the distance between each other. Now they are in the gravitational field of the body, so general relativity says that any experiment will look the same as the body accelerating towards them. If the body is accelerating both people in opposite directions, then the distance between them should increase, but their neutrino scanner says their distance stays constant, meaning the experiment contradicts the equivalence principles, as it tells them they are not accelerating.

It's a star in the southern hemisphere that is somehow south of everything, how could that work on a flat earth, without using teleportation.

Flat Earth Q&A / How does the UA model explain gravity waves.
« on: February 15, 2016, 04:39:17 PM »
The equivalence principle can't explain this one, so I guess like the result of any non local experiment it's going to be a force made by the stars.

This question still hasn't been answered.

Well it was proved that the earth is round years ago, but there is now more proof.

Flat Earth Debate / GPS wouldn't work if the earth was flat.
« on: February 10, 2016, 04:04:21 AM »
The GPS works by having transmitters send out their coordinates and time, the time is used to work out the distance from the transmitter, and trigonometry is used along with the data from a few transmitters to find your location.
The problem is that the coordinates used don't work on a FE (longitude, latitude and height don't fit with a flat earth), so any gsp device shouldn't work, as they are based of math for a sphere.

Flat Earth Debate / The UA doesn't follow Occam's razor
« on: February 09, 2016, 03:59:11 PM »
Quote
Entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity
Gravity requires one force downwards that varies with distance.
UA requires two force, a constant one downwards and a variable one upwards.
To simplify UA, you can just add the two fictitious forces together to get one fictitious force, which oddly enough has the same equation as gravity.

Flat Earth Debate / How do you find your coordinates from the stars.

On a FE.

Flat Earth General / Another way you could make a map.
« on: February 07, 2016, 11:48:01 AM »
You can find daylight maps online, and you know the sun creates a circle of daylight, you should be able to combine these two facts to create a FE map.
Combining this with the star map method, you have no excuse to not have a map.
For those that have forgotten, the star map method is,
1. You know what the stars look like from any location, by using the places RE coordinates with a star map.
2. You can use the stars to find the true coordinates of the location.
3. Since you can turn a "fake" RE longitude and latitude coordinate into a "real" FE polar coordinate, you can transform the globe map into a flat earth map.

Flat Earth Debate / Stop confusing physics with philosophy.
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:46:11 AM »
Some people one this site don't know the difference between the two. In philosophy why's are important, in physics their less important.
In physics you don't always have a reason why something happens, at the fundamental level you just have a set of rules/laws that objects follow, and if you have a reason why a rule happens, it will always be another rule, so you can't have a reason for every rule, because then you would have an infinite list of rules.
So a law of physics not having a reason why isn't a flaw, in philosophy not having a reason why is a flaw.
So stop saying that a physical effect can't exist because it has no reason why.

Flat Earth Debate / How does the FES explain magnetism.
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:26:12 AM »
I mean magnetism is clearly magic like gravity. You can't explain why a charged particle has an electric field, just like how you can't explain how mass has a gravitational field.
So what really causes magnetic and electric fields.

29
As anyone that knows a bit of GR knows, the equivalence principle only applies locally, so it doesn't say you can't tell the difference between gravity and acceleration, it only says you can't tell the difference with a local experiment. An experiment that can tell the difference would be finding the acceleration at sea level, and finding the acceleration far above sea level, since this experiment isn't local, you can use it to tell the difference between acceleration and a gravitational field.

Flat Earth Debate / Inertia, a way to truly prove/disprove the FE.
« on: February 05, 2016, 03:31:19 PM »
The FET says the earth is accelerating upwards at 9.8ms-2, so if your "falling" at this rate you are inertial. Now if you are at the top of a mountain objects will accelerate downwards slower, so if the earth is flat, the reference frame of the object will not a inertial, since it isn't accelerating at 9.8ms-2.
Someone just needs to test this.
