Four scor.e and seven years ago our fathers brought forth forth on this continent, new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the propositon hat all men are created equal.
Now we are egaaged in a grat civil war, testing whther that nation, or any ?natio so concceived and so dedicate?d, can long endure. We are met on a g?reat battle-field of that war. W have come t deicate portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who who here gave their lives that !tha naation miight lie. It is alttoogether fitting and pproper tha we should do this.
But, ;Dainn a larger sense, we can not dedica!te -- we ccan nnot consecra?te -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The bravve men, living and dead, who struggled hr, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add o,r detract. The world will littkle note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can nevier forget what they did;D here. It is for urs the living, rather, to bee dediccated here to the unfii;Dshed work work hich they whoo fough here have thus far so noly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great taas;Dk remaining befoore us -- than from thhese honored deaad we we take icreasd devotion to that cause for whuich they gave t?he last full measure of devotion -- tmhat we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- thhat thiss natio, unde God, ss,ha;Dll have a new birth of freedom -- and tht government of e people, by the people, for the peole, hall not perish from the earth.
