Flat Earth Debate / How does the flat earth impact AGW?

So, the release of massive amounts of CO2 result in the trapping of IR radiation, which makes the earth hotter than it would be without the human produced CO2.  Well, that's how it works on a globe earth.  Will it work the same way on a flat earth?  Do we need to do the same things to mitigate this, or does the flat earth reduce the impact of all the CO2 we release in our industrial society?

I don't really get why anyone cares if the earth is flat or not.  It would seem that the flat earth is described in a way that makes all our observations (for some definition of "all") indistinguishable between a flat earth and a globe earth.  We can't seem to find any set of tests that will actually show a difference between the two world views. 

So, why care? 

Obviously, many people here do care.  There are any number of raging debates going on here, with each side trying to show just how wrong the other side must be, and how not agreeing with them means the others must be totally stupid or easily duped.  But, why?

Why does anyone bother to post here?  Nothing you say will change the minds of those you are "debating" with.  So, why try?

Think an object, like human, has density about 1t/m^3
Water has 1t/m^3 too.

Imagine a person in water. the water at the top of it and the water under it are equal forces him and create a balance.

So; The total force applied to the person by water is zero.

if the force of gravity was present, the person would move downward in the water. but it is not. Anything that is equal to the weight of the self-weight of the water remains in a fixed position within it, not falling down.

No need furthermore information of 20th. Absence is an evidence for it.

In the 20th point, you argue that you do not need to reposition your satellite antenna to keep pointing at the satellite, which is orbiting the earth.  But, the satellite is orbiting in a geostationary orbit, meaning it orbits the earth every 24 hours, just like the earth spins once every 24 hours.  So, the relative position appears fixed, even while it is orbiting at a high velocity. 

Ergo, the earth is not flat, but a globe.  If you understood science, you would understand this.

Flat Earth General / Radiation Belts: An Unnecessary Complication

If I understand correctly, flat earthers have to believe the entirety of anything having to do with space has to be fake, in order for the flat earth ideas to survive.  This means, we never explored the moon and the moon landings are all faked, right?

So, why would we invent the Van Allen radiation belts?  These belts are one of the reasons why moon landing deniers say we did not go to the moon, we could not pass through the belts and live.  It's not true, because geometry.  But, why invent them if space itself is not real?

I don't know all the reasons why people say we did not land on the moon, but if you are a flat earther, the flat earth and it's many issues are enough of an argument to  agree that the moon landings were faked, and all the science "around" the globe earth is also fake. 

So, why would anyone invent the Van Allen radiation belts?  Flat earthers aren't trying to show why the moon landings were faked.  If there's no need to explain, why would something that makes travel to the moon more difficult have been invented as part of the fake moon landing story?  It's an unnecessary complication.

How do you, or anyone else, know Antarctica is off-limits south of 60 degrees latitude?  Have you been there and been turned back?  Do you know someone who has been there and turned back? 

It seems like there are so few things actually understood about the flat earth when it comes to physics or geography, while there are so many things that are known, which seem nearly impossible to know.  Like, how is so much known about the various conspiracies maintained by governments to keep the public from knowing about the flat earth?  If flat earthers know, how did they learn?

I assume avatars are the images that sit above a post?  I'd like to add one, but I can't get it to work.  I'm trying to use the URL method and I keep getting an error: The avatar you have selected is either too large or not an avatar. 

The image is a jpg, not so large (X by Y dimension).  Anyway, what are the requirements for an avatar?

Flat Earth General / Theory of flat Earth, Life and Everything

I've been trying to learn about the flat earth from watching videos on YouTube.  That's not so productive, because they seem to either by from denialists "proving" some claim of the flat earth to be false, or... a very few videos using one microfact to prove the globe earth false. 

Nowhere, have I seen a coherent explanation of how the flat earth model works and how it would be different from the globe earth model. 

Is there a simple description of the flat earth model someplace?  I'm not looking for a library of books.  I would love to find a Reader's Digest size article that, instead of trying to disprove a globe earth, simply describes how the flat earth operates.  I would like enough rigor to actually show (for example) how the phases of the moon work and a simple thing such as the sun set. 

Does this exist anywhere?
