Yeah, that's always a good time to put the kettle on. I think its FES' way of reminding me there is a big flat world out there to be part of. Long live the connection problems.

I typically just go to 4chan while I wait for FES to come back.

Never been to 4chan. However ...

4chan is many things to many people. To Faux News, 4chan is a hazardous "Leftist Internet Hate Machine" filled with domestic terrorists. To others, it is that site full of weeaboos, trolls, and pedophiles that churns out many of the Internet's most popular viral content.
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/4chan

In light my research, I will leave you and the other paedophiles to your viruses and just get that cup of tea instead.
Besides Japanese animation, video games and cooking etc don't really interest me. I'm a man in my 30's. My interests are aligned as so. I am quite typical and fairly right-wing.

I get a 'server busy' type error every now and again. Is this the same thing?

The exact error message is:

Quote
Connection Problems

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

Yeah, pretty sure that's the one I get. So no, it's not just you.
"I want truth for truth's sake, not for the applaud or approval of men. I would not reject truth because it is unpopular, nor accept error because it is popular. I should rather be right and stand alone than run with the multitude and be wrong." - C.S. DeFord

Nor do they me. I spend most of my time on 4chan lurking /b/ and trolling /g/.

How do you troll a cookery thread?
"I put hazelnuts in my walnut cake".
"The secret to a good soup is to make sure it is always stirred anti-clockwise"
"First boil the ice-cream and add the spinach"
"Peel the gerbil much like you would a banana. Then remove its testicles. They will be for decoration at the end"

I've been having a nose around 4chan and can't get into it. There is nothing to read. Just tragic teenagers squabbling over linux kernals and wanting to know how to cheat in their favourite computer game. It made me confirm I was over 18 on entry. I suspect I am the first person who told the truth on that, all day. The Japanese can keep it. It gets a big thumbs down. Half a star.

I have a feeling the server just runs shit early in the morning each day.  Maybe a database backup or something that would hog up sql and use the available connections.
The illusion is shattered if we ask what goes on behind the scenes.

Neither /b/ nor /g/ has anything to do with cookery. Lurk moar.

You sound like Richard Stallman when someone asked him to post on /g/. "I tried to look at that page but only saw inane comments."

The problem is that "early morning" for you is "middle of the evening" over here. It does it right when most Australian members would be trying to post. Either way, I don't know of any other sites that do this, and I'm pretty sure most hosting places would back up their data on a regular basis.

I don't want to Lurk there. It is rubbish.

That Richard Stallman probably talks a lot of sense. I agree with him.

So you support getting rid of all forms of identification and you'd like to imprison people in the UK?

He does; he is the founder of the free software movement. He also talks a lot of rubbish, however.

I do not think ID cards are a worthwhile expense and I do indeed think too many criminals escape custodial sentence in the UK. I am beginning to like this Stallman guy more and more.

Irrelevant. He claims they restrict your freedom.

and I do indeed think too many criminals escape custodial sentence in the UK.
Oh. Because, you see, he thinks that too many people go through customs, and therefore suggests that people stop using airports. I'm glad that you're against this insanity.

I am beginning to like this Stallman guy more and more.
Then try to find out about him.

Can we stay on topic in S&C? This is your only warning.

Also, this is God's way of telling you to go outside, or look at porn.

This seems to be happening several times per day now. Can somebody who Daniel actually trusts please get in contact with him and inform him about this?

FES was just unresponsive for approximately eight minutes, because I performed one search. Eight minutes is an exceptionally long time to run a SELECT query on a database. This problem isn't new, but it's been getting gradually worse for more than a year now, which should have been more than sufficient time to get it fixed.

I've gotten reports this has been resolved.  Can I get a few folks to verify this?

Added full text index to search.  This should resolve any issues.
