Title: Moon visible during the day
Post by: Logic hopeful on May 08, 2008, 10:02:51 AM
According to FET, the sun and moon both orbit overhead at an altitude of about 3000 miles.  Atmospheric refraction prevents us from being able to see the sun at night, but what accounts for the moon being visible during the day?  Why would the moon be visible when it's in a position where the sun isn't visible?

Don't forget atmospheric refraction/perspective effects.

because as far as I remember the Moon doesn't orbit at the same speed

and [ ] Conspiracy is the least of our concerns.  We're not easy to fool with a few simple photoshop pictures like you are.

In this case, all of the above.  The moon is a light source, as is the sun.  Why wouldn't it be visible during the day?   Only in RE model to have have to concoct bizarre explanations for how the moon is visible even though the sun clearly is not in a direct path to shine light on it.

What?  Are you serious?  In the RE model the is almost always a direct path from the sun to the moon.  In rare occasions, there isn't and what-do-you-know those times just happen to exactly coincide w/ lunar eclipses.

What about selenehelion eclipses?  Or full moon (gibbous) in the daylight?  Oh yeah... umm thats on account of thu magiking.

Or.... we can just observe that the moon _shines_ a light on the earth and be done with it.
