Flat Earth General / Flat Earthers and Empiricism

This is a quote taken from the very beginning of the Flat Earth FAQ:

The evidence for a flat earth is derived from many different facets of science and philosophy. The simplest is by relying on ones own senses to discern the true nature of the world around us. The world looks flat, the bottoms of clouds are flat, the movement of the sun; these are all examples of your senses telling you that we do not live on a spherical heliocentric world. This is using what's called an empiricist approach, or an approach that relies on information from your senses.

My question is this: why do Flat Earthers accept so many "facts" about their model without using the empiricist approach?

What empirical evidence is there for the existence of a firmament?

What empirical evidence do you have of aether behaving the way it is described?

There are many other examples, but I thought these two could get a conversation going.

As everybody who has studied flat earther beliefs knows, The Conspiracy  MUST EXIST for any flat earth model to exist feasibly. In this thread I will attempt to list all possible agents operating within this conspiracy.

1. Every space agency on earth

7. Pilots

8. Sailors who use round earth navigation (large ships still do this in case GPS systems fail for any reason)

9. All university systems that exclusively teach a flat earth model (which would be all of them)

10. Most professions in the field of earth science

11. Round Earth shills who are paid by The Orthodoxy to post misinformation on this very thread.

Flat Earth Debate / Eclipsed

How do solar and lunar eclipses work under the Flat Earth theory? According to the FE theory, the sun and moon are the same size, equidistant from Earth and each other, orbiting in opposition above the terrestrial plane. If this is true, how could the moon possibly get in between the Earth and the sun, creating a solar eclipse?

Even more troubling are lunar eclipses, where under RE theory, the Earth's shadow engulfs the moon. How is this possible in the FE model? What causes the moon to change color?
