They're not USING OpenGL. And obviously since xbone uses AMD architecture they aren't going to be using PhysX for the games anyway. They have to optimize PC games for both architectures anyway so not sure what you're suggesting here.

They're gtx750s as far as I'm aware, but either way it doesn't matter what the dev kits are rolling since dev kits are almost always more powerful than the consumer product and that's what optimization is for anyway. What brand of chips they're running is fairly irrelevant anyway since DirectX is what's doing the work.

OK, so the whole thing with the PCs being used for xbone demos--they're dev kits. My boss gave me a stern talking to about how stupid the internet is and implied I'm stupid for buying into the whole thing, haha. Using windows 7 because games have like a 4+ year development cycle and doesn't make sense to switch OS in the middle. So there's that. The dev kits are generally always more powerful than the production platform, as well; that's what optimization is for.

Their ingenious "wallet" system couldn't handle the fact that I had €0.38 on my account from before I moved countries, so I'd get lots and lots of error messages every time I tried to make a purchase. I tried asking them to convert it to £, but they were scared I'm trying to rob them of €0.38. So I asked for them to just get rid of my balance but set the wallet to the right currency, just so that it stops bothering me with errors. Nope, that's too hard as well. It took them a month of "escalating" and asking for "my debit card details" (which one? I've used four different cards with my Steam account at the very least. "Sir, we need your debit card details." YES, BUT WHICH ONE. "Your debit card details.") to eventually convert it.

Yeah, Steam is policed with a lot more intelligence.
I'll admit, though, the game sharing/lending/selling platform for Xbone is somewhat less draconian than what you find on Steam, at least.
From my understanding you can "share" your games like so:

The depressing part about all this mess is that I'm starting to realize just how restrictive Steam is, as much as I love the service and appreciate their A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ customer service (to use the eBay phrasing)

- Sign in on your friend's xbone and play the game, but have to maintain a once an hour network check in.
- Lend your friend the license through the XBL marketplace for a couple days at the cost of not being able to do anything with the physical copy you have.
- Give (not sell) your friend the license in the XBL marketplace, also rendering the physical copy useless unless you give it to them as well.
- Sell your license to the XBL marketplace for probably even less than you'd get at gamestop, and Microsoft will probably sell it for more (these prices are, of course, guesses)
In this way, it's more "free" to sharing than Steam is. And this is actually something I've wished Steam had for a while now. It's not even about being a bad console (it's pretty technologically great), or about having bad games (though frankly it appears to have zero exclusives worth considering that aren't also planned to be released on PC), it's about the fact that they publicly do not give a single shit about the consumer.
This makes me so mad that I genuinely feel like I should uninstall and burn my copy of Windows because I know this is where they intend to take things on that platform as well. I've even defended them as a company in the past, but fuck that. They are literally the devil.

Yep, that's right. No matter how many games you've bought and/or how much money you've spent in your Xbox live account, if you get your account banned for whatever reason you will lose all ability to play your xbone games. You can literally have a copy of the game IN YOUR HAND that is NOT playable on ANY console because of an account ban. How is that OK?

I was waiting to finish Iron Man 2/Thor(k)/Captain Amerikkka, but now they don't have it on netflix anymore and I don't THAT much of a desire to acquire it by other means. Never been a huge Marvel fan, save for X-Men. Sometimes.

I wonder why so much hate about Superman? Just because the movies have sucked in the past, doesn't make him inherently a crappy character. It's not like the Batman movies after Tim Burton's original and before Nolan's were any good, but obviously Batman is the shit. I know Superman is pretty OP, but the various writers over the years have managed to balance him out quite a bit. I never did really have that much of an attachment to him as a character, but I don't see that as a reason to pre-judge this movie. It's not a work of cinema gold, but it was the best Superman movie to date.
Not sure how to compare them. I haven't seen The Avengers

I was never a big fan either. We got free tickets through Walmart (they won't pay their employees, but they'll give them movie tickets--how quaint!)
It was good, though. I was impressed by the fighting. They didn't just try to make kung-fu in super speed, it felt right--like you'd see in the cartoons--also impressed that they didn't stoop to bullet time to emphasize how fast they were moving. It really appeared that these people were supposed to be "superhuman."
Only thing I didn't really like was the way they stylized the Kryptonian technology and the appearance of their world. Kind of a petty quabble, but it wasn't very imaginative and was too much brown and grey. Krypton has always been painted as a very, very colorful place.

I could be horribly wrong, but I believe if you have one of the PS3 models that supports PS2 games you can access PS2 digital downloads from PSN. I think you can purchase the downloads directly from PSN on your PC, but you'd need the PS3 that supports PS2 games to play them. Although it's doubtful, I suppose it's possible they'll throw in PS2 emulation in the PS4; should be powerful enough to play most games without too much struggle.

Yeah, they kind of sneaked that one under the radar. Everyone was so excited that Sony wasn't going for super restrictive DRM that nobody noticed that little catch. It's fine, though, it's kind of like a petrol tax for maintaining the freeways. Except that tax also gets you a free car every month and lots of other extra goodies. And it's not like XBL where you HAVE to pay the sub to do anything online other than use the shop; you can use any of the streaming services and do whatever else you want to do on PSN, you only have to pay the sub if you want to play online multiplayer. Which frankly I don't really play online very much.
Chances are, though, that unless the girlfriend buys a PS4, I will probably stick to PC Master Race. That said, PS4 is the clear choice for next gen console gaming. $100 cheaper, no restrictive DRM practices, better hardware, way cooler exclusive titles on the way... I don't know what Microsoft thinks they're doing, but they done goofed. The war is over before it even started this time.
