Hello,

I've been commissioned by a UK based newspaper called The Independent to write an article on 'obscure/quirky cultural/scientific beliefs' and I feel that believing the world is flat falls under that category.

Now my article has to express both sides of the perception, as to not make it biased etc and since I have absolutely no idea where to begin researching this theory I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of books/works/etc which lay the foundations upon which all your beliefs are built.

The better the references the better the balance.

Thanks

?

Tom Bishop

Step 1. Look outside your window

Step 2. Read the FAQ

Step 3. Read the book "Earth not a Globe" by Samuel Birley Rowbotham

Step 4. Preform the experiments described in the book for yourself

Step 5. Read the book "One hundred proofs the Earth is not a Globe" by William Carpenter

Step 6. Preform the experiments described in the book for yourself

Step 7. Read the back-issues of "Flat Earth News Quarterly"

Step 8. Preform the experiments described in the newsletters for yourself.

Step 9. Read the book "Flatland" by Edwin A. Abbott

Step 10. Come to the conclusion of a Flat Earth

Also - where can I get more information on 'Tom Bishop'? and can the 'Tom Bishop' on this forum verify that he actually is 'Tom Bishop.'

It would be rather unjust for me to ridicule his words if he didn't actually say them.

Regards.

According to him, yes, he is actually Tom Bishop.  Also, that picture is supposedly actually him.

Now wait a sec.  If this article gets published, doesn't that say something about the international conspiracy?  Wouldn't the conspirators want to prevent this from getting printed?  The Independent apparently has a circulation of about 250,000 people...

Hardly. If an article came out under the heading of 'obscure/quirky cultural/scientific beliefs' and proceded to "ridicule his beliefs" - that would only strengthen people's convictions about FET being a ridiculous proposition.

Well, this site has a steady barrage of topics trying to explain how ridiculous FE is, and yet YOU believe it don't you?  Even if he discovers it to be wrong, it's still a lot of exposure to the theory.  And what if he finds that your theory has some backing - he does the experiments in the books that Tom copies and pastes 90 times a day and it's correct?

His attitude, I mean there are some spiteful individuals that post to him where his retorts are justful, but most of the time they are not.

It's hard to sift the the crap - such as your sig..... I'm sure being the same to everyone is probably the  most efficient way of proceeding for Tom
