I think hydrogen is probably the way forward with the car. If not, I'm buying a camel.
I think bio fuel. Its easier to tax the hell out of you for due to 'emissions', relatively cheap, easy for traders and middlemen to trade by the barrel, needs sod all effort from an engineering research point of view and won't heavily dent the performance of someone wanting a Ferrari or similar. They could probably do it tomorrow if it wasn't in so many rich people's interest to keep us all on the black stuff.

On topic, moon base, there are already secret ones?
The winner is the survivor. When man obliterates himself from the face of the earth it will be a good thing that he has subterranean farming on the moon to help with species survival. Russians, didn't a Mar's lander of theirs recently fail?

There is no moon base. In fact, not one person has been on the moon.
I saw a slight haze in the hotel bathroom this morning after I took a shower, have I discovered a new planet?

Hence the question mark ????

Hydrogen engines currently cost a lot of money to make, and there's no point running them if we require extra fossil fuels to create the hydrogen fuel anyway.

Incorrect.

Twelve men have been on the moon.

Ichi, I really do think that this thread is supposed to be for those of us who are willing to break character and discuss the implications of the Russians colonizing the moon (even if nobody else is brave enough to admit it >:().  To have another FE debate here would be pointless.

All debates regarding FE is pointless, FE'ers just throw all evidence out the window.

As for the implications of a Russian moon colony, I think we would see a war for independence at one point, it would be epic.

Nah, it would be a New Siberia, they'd grumble but never make any serious moves towards independence.

I can't wait to go mining whaling on the moon.

It's the happiest place orbiting the Earth.

That.  I was under the impression that for the most part the FE stuff was supposed to stay in the upper fora.

It wouldn't be much of a war. The colonists rebel, the Russians stop sending supplies, and the colonists die. Then they send new colonists.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

Not if new resources are found on the moon.

And the results of trying to get at those resources? Unquantifiable terror.

If the colonists are stupid enough to fight for independence when they are still totally dependent on Earth to survive then they deserve what they get.
