Your favourite God/Goddess/Djinn/Spirit/deity
« on: May 29, 2009, 02:03:37 AM »
I don't care if you're Christian, Muslim, Jewish, atheist, or an adherrent of any other religion/non-religion. Who or what is your favourite deity and why?

Perhaps it's the mighty Zeus? or the beautiful Venus?

For me it's the Egyptian God, Min a horny god in charge of sex and...lettuce.

have a browse through at godchecker.com if you want to compare and contrast.

Jesus is kind of boring as far as Gods go.

Prometheus was pretty beast.  Plus, he was kind of like Jesus.  Bonus for the Bible thumpers.
When I look out my window, I see exactly what RET predicts.

I don't have a favourite but Pekko, God of brewing is cool. And Ukko the old man.

Sounds like Pekko and Bacchus, together, would have a good party.

Pekko and Bacchus/Dionysus seem to be sort of the same guy.

Fav gods for me are probably Freyja, Loki, Odin and Heimdall. Freyja, as a goddess, mostly had one defining characteristic: She was a hawt chick. :D Loki is the trickster God, and also gets some sympathy points. After that unfortunate business where he killed Baldr and trapped him in Hel forever, he was bound to a rock where a snake would drip poison into his eyes for all eternity. Not so nice. Odin, because he's the highest of the Aesir, and knows everything, and finally Heimdall because were it not for Heimdall, Asgard would have been invaded by the jotun pretty quickly.
Here's an explanation for ya. Lurk moar. Every single point you brought up has been posted, reposted, debated and debunked. There is a search function on this forum, and it is very easy to use.

Prometheus was a Titan, not technically a god.

I agree that Norse gods are awesome.  Especially Odin.  He was kickass.

I think I also like Lempo, God of fertility who's also some kind of demon God too. Nice mix.

If I was asked to imagine a perfect deity, I would never invent one that suffers from a multiple personality disorder. Christians get points for originality there.
