You know what, I think that racism and alot of social problems start as you are raised. For example, alot of people are born into a house where everyone practices one religion and really revolves their life around that. Well, obviously if you're being taken to a spiritual house every week and parents and siblings are praying all the time you'll follow them, just like you learn from your parents not to play with lighters. It's hard to just throw away the way you're raised and convert when you're older.

Well despite my parents best efforts I love lighters, and am completely racist. In fact those two facts alone could get me into the clan....
you had better be protestant as well

Of course. Though my gf's gma is trying to get me to turn catholic.
If you do turn Catholic then you might as well be black to the clan

Better than being jewish.

Actually I believe they are letting catholics in now days.

http://www.Johnleeclary.com/questions_on_the_ku_klux_klan.htm

here is a link with info.

Catholics were disliked for bowing to a foreign power and holding the vatican higher than God. Now the clan is open to membership for white catholics.

Look at the facts in the US.  A majority of the people in prisons are minorities and black on black homicides are the most common.  I'm not racist but why is this so?  When the Mississippi flooded Ohio and other northern states last year, how many reports of violence, rape, murder, theft, and people shooting helicopters bringing supplies did you hear of?  Now compare that to the number of accounts in New Orleans, a proportionally large black community.
Normally when I'm not sure I just cop a feel.

The majority of people in prisons are from poorer backgrounds and in the US (and pretty much the rest of the western world) is mainly people from minority backgrounds. You can't just say there's more black people in prison therefore black people are more criminally minded than white people, you gotta look at the causes.

Also phrase most likely to make people laugh "I'm not racist but...."

I'm not racist, but I hate people because of their ethnicity.

It's because most minorities live in poorer regions, which usually have gangs. Then once you get involved in gangs, you go to prison.

It does not mean that minorities commit more crimes, only that they get convicted more often than white people.

The percentages of the different races in jail pretty much relfect the percentages of the overall population, the only place I have eer seen different is people on death row, more minorities are given the death penalty for murdering a white person than murdering another minority and if you are a minority and you kill a white girl, you are really screwed
Only 2 things are infinite the universe and human stupidity, but I am not sure about the former.

That is unfair, due to the lesser mixing of races, crimes that cross races are generally violent crimes committed without provocation. Murders are more likely to get the death penalty if there is no real relationship between the two people, because a motiveless murder is seen as more hateful than a ruined marriage turned bad.

I already explained it to you, learn to read.

Edit: Although I did oversimplify it, there are more reasons than just being poor. Like Cheryl said, they're more likely to be convicted.

You're a moron. You are clogging the front page of this board with every damn 3-month year old topic that strikes your fancy.

To say I'm stalking you is like saying a streaker is getting spyed on. Stop clogging the front page with whatever rocks your boat.

You are going to get banned.

It seems to me that most racist beliefs can cause the stereotype to be true. Now I can understand raist argument that race could have an impact on someone. such as how he said a mutation could of happened in Asia to make people smarter in certain areas. (I am not saying this is true just possible). now although it is possible for this mutation to move into a different group of people through breeding the race could still be a marker for it. meaning it is more likely for the person to have the gene. However I think the more likely answer deals with culture and stereotypes. I know a bunch of Asians that are in much higher classes then averages should have them. this however does not seem to be from any innate strength. rather there parents are immigrants from china and because of this raise their kids in a much more structured environment. your going to study and your going to like it environment. as for more minority in the prison system means a certain race is bad which means people are less likely to higher them which means they are poorer which means they are more likely to commit a crime which means they are more likely to go to jail. This is what I think although to be honest no one can discount Raists argument because it is racist. to discount things as false because it goes against your morals is stupid and bad science. you need facts to support it. calling someone a racist does not prove them wrong. I don't know enough about a genetics to be able to pass judgment, and I doubt you actually understand enough to do it either. Just being able to point out statistics does not help your case. As I believe Mark twain put it there are three types of lies . lies, damn lies, and statistics.
You can't outrun death forever
But you can sure make the old bastard work for it.

we are not literally equal, just equal as human beings

Naturally. There may be vast genetic differences (though admittedly, not nearly as vast as those between men and women). Similarly, different races may function somewhat differently. It is ignorant to become entirely colorblind. If nothing else, different cultural upbringings make people of different colors... different. However, in the context of interactions with one another, and the job market, these differences are insignificant.

We humans are social spunges, put us in a luke warm ignorance sink and after a few years we are practically dripping with the stuff.

Hardly, take one of us that is sufficiently intelligence, and he'll fix as much ignorance as he can, and learn from the ignorance of those around him.
this can be done, but only after the ignorance has all dripped out.
at a later stage, our ignorance ports become smaller but when young it is easy to fix all that messy ignorance up.

take my grandfather for example, he is still the racist that he was raised to be for having never chosen to question it.

Maybe because no one stood up to him and let him know that its not right. My dad tried to raise me to be a racist but I knew from an early age that it wasnt right. I even called him out on it when I got older. He finally stopped acting that way after I continued and pursued him to change his way of thinking.
